Now fear, though, the Paulites will go to stages 4, 5, and especially 6 in an attempt to mitigate the disaster inherent in Ron Paul’s writings
(CNN) As the newsletters burst into view, first during his 2008 presidential bid and again in recent weeks after he climbed to the front of the Republican race in Iowa, Paul has blamed the writings on ghostwriters. He said he was not aware of the “bad stuff,” as he described it.
But one of Paul’s own books, published solely under his name, contains several passages that could be problematic as he attempts to push his libertarian message into the political mainstream.
As usual, Paul does have some good points, though some of them are rather un-PC, even if he is telling the truth, and Independents might have an issue with them. Then we have stuff like this
In a passage first flagged by the Houston Chronicle in 2007, Paul then claimed that sexual harassment should not be a violation of one’s employment rights.
“Employee rights are said to be valid when employers pressure employees into sexual activity,” Paul wrote. “Why don’t they quit once the so-called harassment starts? Obviously the morals of the harasser cannot be defended, but how can the harassee escape some responsibility for the problem? Seeking protection under civil rights legislation is hardly acceptable.”
That’s a great way to lose the female vote (though not all harassment is towards women), and completely foolhardy. Blaming the victim? Dumb. Leon Wolf finds a quote from the book not in the CNN article
The Middle East, in the last forty years, has soaked up billions of dollars in the name of American security and peace. The more we give Israel, the more we must give their Arab enemies. The height of this folly was vividly and tragically dramatized on October 23, 1981, with the killing of the 241 Marines in Beirut when their barracks were destroyed by radical Moslems. The terrorists probably were aided by Iran and supplied with explosives sold to them by Israel, originating from the United States and paid for by American taxpayers.
So, the bombing was the fault of those eeeeevil Israeli’s and the US, not the Islamist wackjobs. Ron Paul doesn’t seem to like the country he wants to be president of too much, and darned sure takes the far left position that Israel is the root cause of all problems in the Middle East.
“takes the far left position that Israel is the root cause of all problems in the Middle East.” I was recalling just last night, that the group most likely to accuse the US of being an “empire” (other than Paul or his followers) was leftist radicals in the 60’s.
Maybe that guy who said Paul might be a neo-liberal is on to something?
I can see the logic in all of Paul’s statements. In fact, I find the man to be very truthful. Have you ever wondered that you minds might be so poluted with the party line that you have difficulty understanding freedom and truth when it is presented. I like Paul because he desires to roll back the clock and eliminate the socialism that has been our government since the early 1900’s. No other candidate even understands the issue.
That’s just sad.
Really? You think that a victim of sexual harassment should just quit? So a person who has put in time into a company, is vested in a retirement plan should just quit because of a boss that says “sleep with me or be fired?”
You really find “truth” and “logic” in that?
This is a typical statement of Paulbots and conspiracy theorists. Only they can see the truth. Only they are smart enough to “get it.”
What we are seeing is typical elitism from a candidate that is supported by the left.
The terrorists probably were aided by Iran and supplied with explosives sold to them by Israel, originating from the United States and paid for by American taxpayers.
Capitalism at its finest…..Freemarkets everywhere…..isnt this a trademark of the libertarian way of life?
This here is EXACTLY what libertarians preach and yet……in this case….its now evil…..
Wait in a libertarian world would we not need rules and regulations to prevent lockheed or boeing from selling missiles and jets and parts to Iran and Pakistan……..
I mean after all in a free market capitalist driven libertarian world the MARKET dictates……..Iran wants it…..let not the government stand in the way of Boeing selling Pershing Nuclear missiles to them……
Right?
Thats the libertarian way.
Ron Paul doesn’t seem to like the country he wants to be president of too much,
Libertarians are ANARCHISTS….of course they dont like America.
Progressives are communists….of course they dont like America.
Just remember when you hear about the radical right and the radical left.
We are talking about libertarians and progressives….
The Christian coalition is not RADICAL….unless your a libertarian who believes in ultimate freedom to do anything you want to do…..or are a progressive who believes that in order to get your agenda passed you have to destroy GOD to make room for porno, abortions, gay rights and all the other socially deviate behavior that BOTH libertarians and progressives EITHER defend or preach.
So yes….these people both left and right do in fact hate America for what it is….and want to fundamentally change it….
and neither group will be happy unless they get their way.
