Overshadowed by the “Make Us Lawbreakers Legal” rallies, there are some who are against what has been going on:
But there is also a movement countering that of the illegal immigrants’ taking place.
“You should send all of the 13 million aliens home, then you take all of the welfare recipients who are taking a free check and make them do those jobs,” said Jack Culberson, a retired Army colonel who attended a Pensacola rally.
“It’s as simple as that.”A group of Hispanic Americans calling themselves, “You Don’t Speak for Me,” participated in a Washington news conference Monday in support of strong border security.
Led by Ret. Army Col. Al Rodriguez, the coalition formed to dispel the impression that all Hispanic Americans support those who are trying to disrupt the nation on May 1.
“As the demands of illegal aliens and their supporters become ever more shrilled and outrageous, the silent majority of Americans are remaining silent no longer. We are proud and delighted that will give a voice to the millions of hard-working, law-abiding Hispanic Americans whose views are too often misrepresented,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which organized the coalition.
It’s nice to know that some understand that this issue is not about legal immigrants and/or migrant workers. It is about people coming in to our country illegally, many of whom are violent criminals.
But down in Mexico, we had the “Day Without Gringo’s” (I am sure the SF Chronicle writer had an orgasm writing about something so anti-American)
Thousands of Mexicans obeyed the call of “A Day Without Gringos” and boycotted U.S.-owned businesses in a show of solidarity with the immigrants who participated in rallies across the United States. But because most firms already were shuttered in honor of the annual May 1 national holiday, it was difficult to measure the impact of the boycott. (did you catch all the Communist rhetoric?)
Reading the rest of the article, some agree with this, some don’t. But they STILL do not get the debate. It’s about illegals. It’s not about legals “working jobs that Americans won’t,” otherwise known as “working jobs that those on welfare are too lazy to do.” But folks are trying, and doing a good job, at changing what the debate is actually about.
Also, the media did a pretty good job of avoiding any of the nasty pictures from the rallies. They are showing all these immigrants flying the US Flag. However, Michelle Malkin has other photo’s.
Here in the Triangle, there were some rallies. And some want our sympathy
“We’re talking about a group of individuals that many of them have risked their lives to come into this country,” said Zulayka Santiago, director of El Pueblo, a Raleigh-based Hispanic advocacy group. “To many of them it was worth risking being fired.
To put it bluntly, this is our problem why? We did not force them to risk their lives to come here, breaking our laws. Perhaps if they got off their asses and showed the same dedication to sneaking in to the USA illegally, they could reform Mexico and the other countries they came from.
But others were not impressed. Patrick Rockwell met protesters after they finished their march at the Wal-Mart in Smithfield with signs reading “No illegals, no amnesty.” He said people in the country illegally have no right to protest. “If you want to come here, great. But please, do it legally.”
Exactly. America is a generous country. We welcome you, whether for temporary work or for citizenship. But do it right, do it legally.
