Family Of Romney Prank Target Not Real Happy With Washington Post

In their attempt to attack Romney as a mean person (I don’t remember similar stories about how nasty John Kerry could be in treating people like peons coming from the MSM in 2004), the Washington Post forgot that there are real people affected (via Hot Air headlines thingy)

(ABC News) Betsy Lauber, one of John Lauber’s three sisters, spoke with ABC News Tuesday night regarding the accuracy of the story.

“The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family,” she said.

We’re awaiting the in-depth story from the Washington Post on Obama’s days growing up. Perhaps something about his college transcripts. But, then, this is the same media who weren’t particularly interested in a young Obama snorting a Class I drug, cocaine, also referred to as “a felony.”

Was what Romney and his cohorts did wrong? Sure. Was it unusual? Nope. Kids are cruel. I’m sure each of us can dig back into our memories and find an incident we aren’t proud of. As someone who went to boarding school for four years, I could provide many “pranks” that were way, way worse. How about planting a tiny bong in another students room right before a dorm search? The recipient was not a pot smoker, but was a real jerk. And it got her kicked out. How about dead birds and animals in a kids shoes for a week? Lots more from that pool of memory (FYI, I was involved in neither.)

Anyhow, the MSM should remember that there are real people out there who do not want to be a part of the political narrative.

RS McCain wonders about the WaPo’s chance for a Pulitzer with “Bullygate”. Patterico points out all the problems with the story. And, as the Talk Of The Times finds in Obama’s own book, Obama bullied a girl. Actually, according to today’s doctrine, looks like assaulted the girl.

Late afternoon update: in the The Other McCain story linked above, RSM says the WP writer should be fired for journalistic impropriety, and discusses the pitiful sourcing by Horowitz.

Donald Douglas has a whole lot more on the Left’s coordinated attack.

What is morally worse is what Obama has done to our country.

Why would it be a hate crime John?

None of the supposed people there remember it being motivated by any classification that would qualify as a hate crime.

Lauber (the kid) was “attacked” for his hair – not for his sexuality. The idea that the left has tried to classify this as a “hate crime” shows a lack of truthfulness on their part.

In essence you are asking “which is worse – a crime or hazing by some high school kids?”

For me, the answer is easy – it is the cocaine use.

The hair cutting incident was a one time thing. The illegal drug use, according to Obama, went on for years.
