(San Fran Chronicle) There’s no shortage of their kind in the politically bluest parts of California. Liberals so freaked out about the prospect of President Obama losing his re-election bid that they can’t sleep at night. Can’t talk about anything else. Can’t stop parsing the latest polls.
For the past several weeks, the 60-year-old San Francisco resident has frequently bolted awake in the middle of the night, in “a panic attack,” she said. She darts for her computer and checks the latest polls. Some days she’s so distraught that she can’t exercise.
Every morning, she gets e-mails from friends who’ve been just as sleepless. Most are so tense, they can croak out only a few words. “Very anxious.” “Worried.”
It’s a good time to be a mental health professional, especially if Obama loses. But, um, er, after Bush won re-election in 2004, there were quite a few mental health professionals who suffered PEST (post election stress syndrome) themselves. Will we get another round of liberals unable to get out of bed and go to work (or unable to spend lots of time looking for and applying for jobs in this pitiful Obameconomy)?
Anyhow, these same San Fran liberals were freaking out after the first debate, and it just got worse for them
Then Obama started dropping in the polls.
“Oh my God,” Ikels said. “I didn’t really start paying serious attention to the race until then. All the Republicans were tearing each other up during the primaries and they were all looking insane, so I thought (Obama) would be all right.”
I suspect this is an attitude common throughout Liberal World. And certainly Republicans are, as MKH points out, are “not immune to worry over the election or the fate of the country”, but I’m not losing sleep or too stressed to hit the gym every day I can. And, if I wake up and Obama is the winner, I won’t mope around for weeks. I’ll just get right back to work attempting to stop his far left agenda, as will most Republicans. Liberals take politics entirely too personally.
You do realize that his far left agenda helped the Dow to rise 100% plus in his term
Teach it sounds like you are no longer optimistic about Romney
Hey Johnny! Good to hear from ya son! Obama and the Dow, priceless. You crack me up!
Yeah, I don’t lose sleep but I have been drinking a tad more these nights…especially through the debates. It seems I needn’t, as Romney has more class and presidentail wisdom in his pinky than NMP/Obama.
Why does this effect liberals? They don’t pay taxes, they still get all their free stuff, they could care if the country tanks, so what is at stake for them? I am predicting a landslide for Romney.
David, it only affects those not getting their free medical marijuana. The others are too busy trying to control other people’s lives to notice life around them. Then you have these PESTS who get the media attention in order to have some point in their lives.
Silly not-to-be-named person. Silly as a racist antisemite. Hey, talk to a person who has not had a job in 3-4 years how they feel about the high DOW, which only reflects the changing shares, not necessarily of BUYING.
It’s a …… story John, one about Liberals getting typically unhinged.
We’ll see what happens come next Wednesday.
