Retiring Senator Joe Lieberman makes a few good points
(The Hill) Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) on Sunday called for a “national commission on violence,†in the wake of Friday’s shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.
“I’m always reluctant about commissions, but I really believe we ought to have a national commission on violence,†said Lieberman, according to a White House pool report. “These events are happening more frequently and I worry that if we don’t take a thoughtful look at them, we’re going to lose the hurt and the anger that we have now.â€
Guns are the tools being used, but they are not the result. When people drive drunk and kill someone, we don’t blame the alcohol or motor vehicle, we blame the person who got liquored up. When some Islamist straps on a bomb and goes out to blow himself up with a whole bunch of women and children, we don’t blame the bombs and clothes, we blame the jihadi and that culture of violence (well, many liberals tend to blame Israel and the United States).
Lieberman suggested the commission should have a broad scope and not focus only on the nation’s gun-control restrictions.
“That includes looking at violence in the entertainment culture, mental health services and, of course, gun laws,†he said.
Let’s look into that violence in the entertainment industry, chock full of liberals who wield and even glorify guns. Look at all the violent and popular shows. Person of Interest, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Bones, Dexter, Law and Order (on tons of times and with different spin offs), shows on prison, Gangland (one of my favorites), Burn Notice (also one of my favs), and so many others. Plus so many others in regular and syndication.
The top video games of the year include Assassins Creed 3, Halo 4, Dishonored, Ninja Gaiden 3, Max Payne 3, Binary Domain, Sleeping Dogs, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Borderlands 2, among others.
Look at all the violence in the movies released this and every year.

Deyon Durham, 24, of 279 Faulkner St., was found shot to death at 1221 Montgomery St. shortly after 7 a.m., police said.
The initial investigation suggests that Durham was breaking and entering at the home when the homeowner, whose name was not released, shot him.
Durham had convictions, starting in 2005, for indecent liberties with a minor, sexual battery, breaking and entering vehicles, larceny and failure to register as a sex offender, according to state Division of Adult Correction records.
We should make sure that guns are taken away from law abiding citizens so criminals are never in danger.

The USA has a huge culture of violence. Some people think that this is not a good thing to have. And as is typical you place the blame on “THE LEFT” Hollywood produces what the Americans want to pay to see. It is the culture that is wrong and should be changed. The average AMERICAN child will see 16000 homicides on TV before he is 16. And 200000 violent acts in addition to the killings. Couple this with the fact that in many states a kid can lawfully own a gun before he can drive a car. Maybe it should be different.
Teach do you think it might be the liberal Jews who are forcing Americans to watch that crap ? Hollywood and TV are full of them.
There are 10000 un lawful killings with guns each year and 18000 suicides each year with a gun (many vets and police) there are usually less than 500 lawful killings each year. Sooooo in order to have the 500 we must accept the 28000, I do not think so.
in 2012 44 policeman have been shot and killed. About 4 times more will kill themselves with their own gun.

Tell us how many court cases have won using the argument that the child was desensitized to violence so they killed someone. I’ll give you a hint: it is a number less than 1.
In fact, the exact opposite has happened where people don’t learn how to resolve conflicts. Schools have eliminated “dodge ball” because the game is “too violent.” “Duck duck goose” picks on kids too much. It used to be kids stood up to school bullies and the kids resolved it. Now we have parents and teachers saying that if a kid stands up to a bully, they get suspended too.
Leftist love to create the illusion that they are creating a safer world when their actions actually make the world worse. People do not recognize dangerous situations or what to do about them. They count on others to resolve conflicts instead of learning how to handle situations themselves.
The entire leftist agenda is flawed and now we are seeing the results of that agenda. Instead of looking and saying “we are wrong,” leftists just keep wanting more control over people.

Was watching a bowl game that was on ESPN on saturday. one day after the Connecticut shooting. The play-by-play espn announcer, said (paraphrase)… “one of the main plays by the wildcats is known as the pistol offense. In respect and deference to the tragedy in Connecticut, we will not reference that play during this broadcast”
yes… that will make a HUGE difference in the world when you yourself don’t call a play what is called on the field.
you might end up starting a chain reaction leading to the deaths of thousands or… because those parents who lost a child MIGHT be watching and have their feelings hurt cuz the shooter killed their child THE DAY BEFORE …. with a RIFLE!!!
