(Daily Caller) Following a public policy meeting of African-American leaders, National Urban League president Marc Morial and National Action Network president Al Sharpton called for a new national assault weapons ban, saying the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution should be regulated.
“The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are not absolute. One cannot yell fire in a crowded theater and hide behind the First Amendment,†said Morial when asked by TheDC if he supports California Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein’s assault weapon ban bill.
That’s because the portion about Free Speech regards political speech, Al. Perhaps you should read the documents regarding the Bill of Rights from the time it was being debated. I bet Al’s view would change if The Central Planning Office decided to slap a few restrictions on what MSNBC could broadcast.
“No one has been more aggressive in our defense of the Constitution than this nation’s civil rights leaders. …We respect the Second Amendment,†Morial added. “None of these provisions speak in absolute terms.â€
So, if they do not speak in absolute terms, then slavery was OK, Al? Because the 14th Amendment sure seemed to “speak in absolute terms.”
People do not have the right to unregulated rights in this country,” Sharpton continued….

Sharpton also said “everybody is regulated with every right,” using airports as an example.
Air flight is not a “right”. I love when liberals start yammering on about the Bill of Rights which they seem to never have read nor understood.

The “restriction” (not regulation) of rights is the same as it has always been – your rights end at my nose.
But notice Sharpton’s argument on “yelling fire in a crowded theater.” First, that standard is no longer in effect as it was supplemented by a later court decision because it implies, and Sharpton goes down this path, that because you can’t use the First Amendment as a defense if you can yell “fire” in a crowded theater, that means the government has the right to restrict speech itself.
The problem is that you DO have the right to yell “fire!” if there is a fire.
The government has no right of prior restraint when it comes to speech. They cannot prevent speech but can only hold people accountable for the results of that speech (ie creating a false panic, libel, slander, etc.)
Thus, the government should not regulate the right of gun ownership but only hold people accounable when a weapon is used illegally.
That’s what liberals don’t understand. My right of gun ownership does not infringe on the rights of anyone until I use that weapon in an illegal manner that violates the rights of someone else.
Don’t be so quick to mock Al Sharpton.
He is the new face of the Democrats,

Excellent point, GC. You can yell “fire” in a packed anywhere when there is, in fact, no fire, causing massive panic, mayhem, destruction, injury, and even death. No one can stop you. But, the person who yelled it will pay the penalty afterwards, because that is not protected free speech.
But, with guns, these leftist fascists want to take away that right before a person has broken the law.

Hmmmm, you know, the way that I interpret the 14th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution, a Negro is required to be gainfully employed or at least self-reliant if he or she is to be granted citizenship in the USA, and I have a few other liberal interpretations of that amendment, too. Interpretations which Al Sharpton wouldn’t want to consider, much less hear.
The point is that anyone can read into the Constitution whatever he or she wants to read into the constitution, not necessarily what was written there, which is what Liberal activist judges do routinely, arrogantly writing their own case law to deliberately further f*ck up the system, also..
