Never let a good crisis go to waste
(CNN) Now more than ever, we need to provide support for the advocacy organizations that are working to establish a formidable counterweight to the gun lobby, which is well financed, well organized and will stop at nothing to protect the interests of the firearms industry and obstruct sensible legislation that will help save lives.
Groups like the Fund for a Safer Future and Mayors Against Illegal Guns — spearheaded by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg –have been leading the charge in Washington for meaningful reform. It is incumbent upon all of us in the philanthropic community and the people served by these programs to stand firmly behind them during this critical time.
There’s lots more in the opinion piece, and what it all boils down to is what the headline at CNN says: “write a check”. I’d suggest that instead of giving money to these groups that lefties agitate for disarming the security at government offices and government officials, like Nanny Bloomberg, because if we can save just one life……hey, the writer is yammering on about a right to safety. I don’t feel safe that Bloomberg has armed people around him.
Teach would you like to see more gun control less gun control or are comfortable with the way it is now?
As I’ve said, I have little problem with expanded background checks for gun purchases. Otherwise, let’s encore existing law and go after criminals, not pit burdens on law abiding citizens.
