Morning, y'all, Jebediah here. Ya know, I reckon' that them thar Liberals keep telling us that diplomacy is the way to go, that fighting never solved anything, that if we all just sang Kumbaya and other leftists claptrap, everyone would be nice.
So, what happens when a Liberal is asked nicely about one of their children?
At a private reception held at the White House with newly elected lawmakers shortly after the election, Bush asked Webb how his son, a Marine lance corporal serving in Iraq, was doing.
Webb responded that he really wanted to see his son brought back home, said a person who heard about the exchange from Webb.
“I didn’t ask you that, I asked how he’s doing,” Bush retorted, according to the source.
Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didn’t. It’s safe to say, however, that Bush and Webb won’t be taking any overseas trips together anytime soon.
Got that? The President and Commander in Chief asked specifically how Webb's son was doing, Webb had to pull the leftist "let's run away BS", and a "source," unnamed, of course, puts words in the Presidents mouth, causing Webb to want to commit violence. And told the media!
It's not OK to treat Muslims who want to harm America and Her citizens, but, punching the President? Seems OK in their minds. Remember Mary Landrieu threatening to punch Bush? And don't forget all the assasination chic the left has put out on Bush and Cheney.
The Left is a strange bunch. Always do as I say, not as I do.
Allahpundit, over at Hot Air, says that Bush's response was kinda dickish, which I would have to agree with, but, so is what Webb said next, according to the Washington Commie Post
“That’s between me and my boy, Mr. President,” Webb said coldly, ending the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House.
Pleasant, eh?
Mary Katherine Hamm shows that Webb himself was the source of the story. Still waiting for the Tennessee jersey, MKH, though I might have missed it.
More on this subject: Over at the Hufftard Post, the loons are celebrating Webb wanting to slug Bush, and are chiming in with their own "I want the Secret Service to investigate me" violence wishes.
Anyhow, while I am over at The Hill, down at the bottom of the page is an interesting story
Looks like Republicans aren’t looking for answers after losses in the November elections — at least not in books.
Tom Nissley, senior books editor for Amazon.com, says he hasn’t seen the same post-election bump in sales for what he thinks of as “self-help” books for losers. After Democrats got trounced in the 2004 election, he noticed a spike in sales of left-friendly books such as Tom Franks’s “What’s the Matter With Kansas” and George Lakoff’s “Don’t Think of an Elephant,” books he describes as “what can we do and how to fix things” tomes.
This time, there’s no Republican analogue, he said. “That was a surprise for me,” Nissley said. “It might be that conservatives don’t think of themselves as needing to make a change.”
Could be because we aren't whiny little bastards who go all sorts of wonky after an election defeat like the libs did after the 2004 elections. We don't sit around and seethe about what we did wrong, reliving it time and time again. We don't go to mental health professionals, and we don't stay in bed for three days like Fat Mike Moore. We don't have trouble going to work or being around friends. We just get on with our lives.
Heck, the last three Giants losses pissed me off more then the GOP midterm loss, and 4 straight Devils losses upsets me more. Yet, I'm still getting on with my life.
