Today’s Seasonal Joke

Now THIS is really funny:

Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on news media reports that President Bush is considering lifting the presidential moratorium protecting Alaska's Bristol Bay from oil and gas drilling:

Wa waa wa waaa. Wa. Waa wa waaa waaa. (here it comes)

"Our domestic oil supplies are valuable but limited. We should not sacrifice our marine ecosystems, robust tourist economies, and fishing communities for the sake of extracting every last drop of oil from American soil.

"Our fragile coasts, from Alaska to California to Florida, require greater protection than a mere presidential moratorium that can be easily lifted. Lasting protection under the law is essential. So is a comprehensive plan that builds our economy around clean, homegrown, renewable energy sources and exciting new technologies.

"While the Bush Administration dances to the oil companies' tune, (wait for it) Democrats intend to achieve energy independence within 10 years." (end of article)

Funny stuff! Though, I missed the punch line, which would explain how they would achieve said energy independence, when they refuse to allow drilling, do not like the current drilling operations, refuse to allow nuclear power plants (even thought their EU buddies love it,) and do not like solar, because the transmission lines can cause ecological damage, as do the waste products from building solar collectors.

Using coal and wood? Pollutants and deforestation. I have to agree on those points.

And let's not for get Ted Kennedy, who is blocking the Cape Wind Project.

Maybe we are all supposed to burn our feces.

Anyhow, What do you call Santa's helpers?

  1. Ogre says:

Since she’s from CA, maybe she still thinks solar power will work.

  2. Funny thing is, there was a story a week or 2 ago, where the environuts were complaining about transmission lines going from the desert into LA, originating at a solar energy plant.

Just can’t make this stuff up :)
