After watching Obama these past 5 years, color me skeptical that this is anything other than some sort of self-serving political move
(The Hill) President Obama will create a new task force to examine how to better prevent sexual assault on college campuses, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
The president is giving the panel three months to gather specific recommendations for schools to better prevent and respond to an epidemic of campus sexual assaults, according to the wire service. Obama is also asking the task force to provide recommendations on how the federal government can track and promote how well individual schools are responding to the issue, and punish universities that fail to confront the issue.
Vice President Joe Biden, Attorney General Eric Holder, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Education Secretary Arnie Duncan and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius will join President Obama and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, chair of the Council on Women and Girls, in the Oval Office to announce the initiative on Wednesday.
A couple points: first, college students tend to vote much for Democrats than Republicans. These are the people who pushed hard to get Obama elected the first time, and sure helped the 2nd time. So why is Obama’s base so involved with sexual assault? Perhaps this is part of the “if it feels good, do it” culture pushed by Obama and the Dems, along with a society of loose morals. Sexual assault has always been around, and, sadly, will always be around. Why has it grown during Obama’s presidency?
2nd, Obama rarely does anything without an ulterior motive. Might one of those be to give the federal government even more direct control over state and private colleges? If you think that’s all conspiracy-like, you haven’t been paying attention the last 5 years.
Then there’s this, from Jammie Wearing Fools
Left unsaid: All the folks listed above have failed over the course of five years to do anything about this so-called epidemic. Meanwhile, they never mention the epidemic of abortion.  Hundreds of thousands will fight the cold weather to march against that epidemic today, but apparently that isn’t newsworthy.
Good point. So, why now? Is this another case of Obama attempting to appear as if he’s Doing Something, especially with the midterms coming this year? Reducing sexual assault is a worthy goal. I just do not trust Obama’s motives.
I don’t understand this sexual assault business. I have seen some references to the women all upset on other blogs, but don’t understand if this is clear, forcible rape or just the usual of girls teasing and going a bit too far or having next morning regrets. I really don’t see any reason to assault a woman in the current environment as they generally have the morals of a street prostitute and I work to keep my male children away from a many of them. In short, they are nuts.
But for the good hearted young women that aren’t absolute sluts like the 70% of their peers, all they have to do is carry a couple of friends, Smith and Wesson. That seems to make the playing field very equal.
I would think Obama is trying everything to get the topics off all his various problems. This topic will show how caring he is to women and in turn how bad the Republicans are for not understanding the concerns of females.
Last year the Obama administration tried to expand the definition of “sexual harassment” to the point where the First Amendment was gone as well as people being guilty until proven innocent.
I suspect that you are going to see more cases like this: (If it doesn’t show up, “Google Taranto: An Education in College Justice”) and this.
No serious individual thinks can justify rape, but at the same time, not all interaction is rape. Furthermore, those accused of rape must have the same protections in courts as well as in school tribunals.
I believe that is where you are going to see this going. Once again, we see the administration looking to strip people of their Constitutional rights. But hey, it takes focus off of the ACA, Iraq, Syria, Benghazi, the IRS……

Do you have evidence that 1) campus sexual assaults are perpetrated by young liberals? and 2) that sexual assaults have grown during Obama’s Presidency?
The Bureau of Justice statistics contradict your claim.

david,
So you think that 70% of women are sluts with the morals of street prostitutes?
And you wonder why women run from the conservative movement?
No Jeff, I know that 70% have the morals of a street prostitute, I don’t think. But, unlike the liberals/communist, I don’t see that it is the place of the government to do a thing about it. I feel that women should have abortions and that no law should be passed that restricts anyone’s liberty or ability to do any good or harmful act on their body that they desire. That includes the government getting out of the drug business. This goes against the thoughts of Dems and Repubs. As to courting a segment of society, that is so foreign to the way our government is supposed to work that it shows we are living in a different world than the one laid out and to which we signed on to. And, no, I am not a Dem or Repub or liberal or conservative, I want my little area of geography to have its own government and country and watch the US continue down the tubes.
