Today’s Obligatory Global Warming Post

And, it's not about Al Gore winning an Oscar

BALTIMORE – A winter storm that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of Midwest homes and businesses moved into the East on Monday with a dicey mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain that slowed travelers and tied up airlines once again.

Highway crews scrambled to clear the roads, and hundreds of flights were canceled — including at least 68 for JetBlue, whose flight schedule and reputation were severely battered by a storm two weeks ago.

That dastardly global  warming, causing winter ice and snow storms. Goodness. What is next!

Teach, the temperature of one place at one time is called weather. It says nothing about climate, much less climate change, much less again Global Climate Change.

    Take care :-)

  2. Bingo, now you are getting it. And that is exactly what those who believe in global warming by Man are doing. Measuring weather, or, to be more exact micro-climate data.

  3. Silke says:

Climate is defined as weather averaged over a long period of time (usually 30 years). The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report is the most comprehensive compilation and summary of current climate research.

Please stop confusing weather with climate.

  4. Please stop confusing a political movement that makes some people quite a chunk of money, as well as “prestige”, and damages big business, with actual science.

Science is reports that state that the Sun has been more active over the past 60 years. Science is a report that shows the volcanic vents in the Mid Atlantic ridge have been very active over the past 40 years. Science is understanding that climate changes. The Little Ice Age ended about 1850. There was a warm period before that. Change happens.

Teach, can you please provide the names of these reports? As I understand it, according to the World Radiation Center, there has been no increase in solar irradiance since at least 1978 when satellite observations began.

Can you please give me the name of this report? According to this report, human activities release more than 150 times the amount of CO2 emitted by volcanoes–the equivalent of nearly 17,000 additional volcanoes like Kilauea (Kilauea emits about 13.2 million tonnes/year).

Yes, and every major scientific institute dealing with climate, ocean, and/or atmosphere agrees that the climate is warming rapidly and at an unprecedented rate.

  6. Look back in the archives. I have posted the info many times.

I have said many times that “show me the proof, and I will believe it.” Facts, figures. No one who follows the global warming as caused by man can do that. They throw conjecture, unscientific data, limited data, hysteria, and computer models.

CO2 does very little. Methane, on the other hand, is much worse, as far as greenhouse gases go. And volcano’s release vast amounts. And, underwater ones in the Mid Atlantic ridge release other gasses, warm the water, and cause separate deposits of methane to be released, without putting debris into that atmosphere that blocks sunlight.

Teach, I looked through your archives and didn’t see the scientific reports you are referring to. I would appreciate it if you could point them out to me.

I have provided facts and figures along with the links to those reports and you invariably respond with more unsupported assertions. Again, where are these scientific reports you keep referring to?
