Does this have meaning over the long term? Maybe. Maybe not
(No Tricks Zone) Climate scientists on both sides of the debate agree on one thing: the earth’s surface and atmosphere have (unexpectedly) stopped warming; there’s been no temperature increase in over 17 years and counting.
While global warming scientists insist the pause is only temporary and that warming will resume in earnest sometime in the future (once the missing heat comes out of hiding), other scientists are very skeptical. Today a growing number of distinguished scientists all over the globe believe the earth will be cooling due to the forces of natural cycles that have recently come into play.
Yet as many scientists are making forecasts of cooling, there’s one fact that seems to have escaped them: the datasets of the world’s leading climate data institutes clearly show that planetary cooling is already taking place and has been happening for over a decade.
HADCRUT and RSS are the two main sources for global temperatures. HADCRUT is showing what would be considered a statistically insignificant decrease, while RSS, with a 0.1C decrease could be considered in the range of significant. Regardless, what happens now? Does a pattern similar to the 40’s through the 70’s occur, where the temperatures dip, with the media freaking out about a coming ice age? Do they simply flatline for an extended period? Do they start a march upwards, bringing the globe closer to the higher temps of the Medieval and Roman warm periods? Time will tell.
Many studies and scientists state that the Earth is in for a cooling period. Some go for the slight cooling, like during the 40’s through 70’s. Some are thinking more along the lines of a typical Holocene cool period. Some even think there could be a deep cooling, like during the Little Ice Age. Are any right? Time will tell. We can probably expect a spike in temps if El Nino sets up in the latter part of the year. I won’t prognosticate what happens climate-wise, but I will predict that if cooling happens, it will be Blamed on mankind via “climate change”.
Oh, and it must really suck when the Earth refuses to cooperate with your models of extreme doom from slight temperature increases, cause those increases are not happening.
What would be really entertaining is if Obama’s science czar John Holdren changed his catastrophic future preachings again.
In 1971 Holdren forcasted the coming of a new ice age was likely in his Rational Strategy For Man. And he put a lot of blame on man’s pollution, urbanization, and deforestation for the coming ice age.
Then in 1997 he predicted that temperature would rise 10 degrees. Caused by man. And he hasn’t stop since, forecasting all sorts of weather catastrophes and ice-free winters by 2010, none of which happened. He’s still pushing hard on this same agenda for his boss even though he has never been right about climate.
Could Holdren flip back again? Predict an ice-age caused by man again? And have the cajones to say “See, I told everyone in ’71”. That would be too damn funny.
Ok, then CO2 must, must be the cause of any cooling, say the hoaxers in 3..2..1..
…And (oddly enough) Jeffery the warmist nitwit is nowhere to be found.
It’s a terrible thing when the facts support the “deniers,” isn’t it?
Hold on! In a late-breaking update, the git has been sighted! Here’s an exclusive photo: He’s the one lying down, if you’re not sure.
Well J comes and goes based on the availability of his meds. and if his mom pays her electric bill on time.
JG, right on. Most of these CAGW kooks were the same ones prognosticating a global ice age in the 70s. It was about control then and it is even more about control now.
I have no clue what the climate will do since the climate is a chaotic and random thing. Anyone who thinks they know what the weather will be 50 years from now is evil. And their intent is only evil against their fellow man.
Casey:
Kiss my ass, you ignorant science Denier, you. What facts are you talking about that support the Deniers? The cherry-picked data shown in this misleading post?
The Earth’s oceans and atmosphere continue to warm. Look at the graph: from 2008 to now the atmosphere warmed significantly (see, anyone can cherry pick data).
Kiss my ass, you addled-brained moron.
g1,
Kiss my ass, you ignorant science Denier.
Very few climate scientists described cooling in the 70s. Now, almost every climate scientist accepts the overwhelming evidence supporting the theory of AGW.
Far-right authoritarian followers like yourselves can’t even imagine that others may possess motives different from your own.
You were gone for a long time, now you’re back. Did your mommy kick you out again for whacking off to pics of pre-teen boys?
J,
I, unlike you it appears, have a job. A job that doesn’t allow much free time to just play on the internet like you do all day.
And, isn’t it funny that you call me an “authoritarian follower”. An awesome oxy-moron if I ever heard one. Slowly speeding. Dying of life. Socialist freedoms. AGW warming. all quaint and apt oxy-moronic sayings.
You claim we have no proof and we cherry pick data. Yet, you suffer from the same problems. You’ve never proved your assumptions except to say, “they believe it”.
You follow blindly the hysteria of an authoritarian cult that wants to dictate how people live, what people buy, and where people should live. Seems you tend to look in the mirror too much.
Oooo, somebody struck a nerve. It’s been my experience that when one gets that pissed over a slight insult, that insult struck close to the truth.
I also find it funny that these warmists say we cherry pick and don’t tell the whole truth while spouting the proven FALSE claim that most, 97%, of scientists agree that Global Warming is mostly or completely man made.
n,
As I’ve said many times, I’ll give as good as I get. I prefer not to get into trivial namecalling but you guys make it easy. Conservatives love to slam others but then clutch their pearls and swoon when they get slammed back.
I didn’t claim 97% of scientists agree that global warming is man-made, although it is probably true that they do.
g1,
You typed:
“Well J comes and goes based on the availability of his meds. and if his mom pays her electric bill on time.”
but also,
“I, unlike you it appears, have a job. A job that doesn’t allow much free time to just play on the internet like you do all day.”
Which is it? Because far-rightists are driven by ideology rather than evidence, they can easily hold logically contradictory positions as long as both positions support their ultimate ideology. This is one of the diagnostic signs of the far-right authoritarian mind. If you don’t want to be identified as a far-right authoritarian follower, I suggest you stop acting like one.

While you did not specifically mention the number 97% in this post, you have in multiple others. And here, you link “majority” with the belief that global warming is man-made.
So, yes, another lie from J. And yet, you cherry pick data as in this case. To claim a <100 of the <100 respondents to a survey (of which many authors replied that they were mislabeled) believed that some warming can be attributed to man is not the same thing as 97% of all climate scientists believe that CAGW is man-made.
Also, when data is shown that is verifiable you claim "cherry picking". When analysis is started from an end point (of which there can be no debate) and extends backwards in time to just before any significant departure from 0 occurs, is not cherry picking. It is a statistical analysis that has a rule and follows that rule. If you don't like it, then create your own.
But you've been asked this before and only want to stomp your feet and claim that since you say something, it is true.
But, we've already shown that you are anti-capitalist, anti-minority, and anti-poor. So, your motives for pushing for AGW reparations is not based on good intentions.
Also, please learn a bit of knowledge. Far-rights are libertarians who believe in very, extremely, drastically limited government. That is not authoritarian. All authoritarian gov’ts throughout history have been on the left. they’ve been anti-freedom, anti-economy, anti-liberty, and anti-personal responsibility. That’s the hallmark of an authoritarian rule.
You don’t seem to be able to distinguish between an oxy-moronic statement and a true one. But then, we’ve already shown you have no grasp of reality.
g1,
By all means point out the “multiple others” I’ve stated 97% of climate scientists… blah blah blah. Oh, you can’t? So, who’s the liar?
You seem to relish these pissing contests rather than discussing evidence, but I’ve come to expect that from you and your ilk.
Many from the current iteration of far-rightists, John Birchers, Tea Partiers, right-wing anarchists etc do claim to be libertarians but obviously are not. Many may be “cafeteria libertarians” choosing and rejecting their positions based on their biases, ideology and partisanship.
Have you sworn off all Federal subsidies? Do you refuse to drive on interstate highways, drink tap water, breathe clean air, not accept unemployment payments, avail yourself of the courts, patent protection, safe and effective drugs, Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid? Do you pledge not to use FDA approved antibiotics for you and your family? Or are these subsidies OK for you and your ilk but not for others?
You wish to further the interests of white, straight, conventional, Christians who think as you do. You wish to further the interests of business over the rights of workers. That is your right, but why do you deny it?
Do you favor forcing school children to listen to Christian prayer in school; forcing school children to learn Christian creation stories. Do you favor restricting the teaching of biological evolution, genetics and astronomy. Do you favor banning abortions? Birth control? Gay marriage? Prostitution?
The neo-libertarian movement favors policies that support business over workers, and favor the interests of white, straight, conservative Christians over all others.
‘
As that number has been thoroughly debunked, the answer to your question can be seen in the mirror.
Of course, non of these things are subsidies but don’t let those facts get in the way of your delusion.
Because it is not true.
I realize that a tactic of people of your ilk is to make ridiculous statements and then expect others to show you how they are wrong, but that just goes to show that you have nothing to add to the argument, so you rely on delusional theories.
Let’s address that a bit….
Tell us Jeffery, in your company, do you pay everyone the same rate of pay? Do you as an owner make the same rate of pay as a janitor? If not, why are you favoring your interests over the workers?
Do you think that the only people who believe in Christianity are white?
How terribly bigoted of you. I guess what you are saying is that you only hate white people who believe differently than you do. It must be nice to see people and discriminate against them by their race.
Most conservatives and libertarians will tell you they don’t care what people believe as long as it doesn’t impact their freedom to believe as they choose.
People like you think that your beliefs should trump all others. People like you think that it is proper to discriminate on the basis of race. People like you like to call others name and then threaten people when that same invective is thrown their way.
So tell us Jeffery – tell us all – enlighten us with your wisdom as to how you think it is proper to discriminate against people of a certain race and color? Tell us how you claim to think it is wrong to put “businesses ahead of workers,” but do so in your own company? Tell us how you object to people of faith having their own beliefs they want to exercise, but the state should allow other beliefs to restrict them from exercising those beliefs?
As we have shown before and you continue to prove, you’re a small minded, bigoted hypocrite.
Jeff,
Actually, you have said 97% in the past, or maybe it was 99%. Then you consistently show us how much of a bigot you are and now you are racist.
As I have said in the past, the best correlation for what is happening with climate science is what occurred with the cholesterol issue. A new book is out detailing the aberration of the science and how the data was manipulated to fit the desired result. I refer you to “The Big Fat Diet Surprise”. Now, I realize that this is not a science publication, but it does summate what I have seen over the last 40 years.
g2,
“…how you think it is proper to discriminate against people of a certain race and color?” — It isn’t.
“Tell us how you claim to think it is wrong to put “businesses ahead of workers,†but do so in your own company?” — You have no knowledge of my company.
“Tell us how you object to people of faith having their own beliefs they want to exercise, but the state should allow other beliefs to restrict them from exercising those beliefs?” — So you think that any person’s religious beliefs trumps all other laws and rights?
when those laws violate a person’s established religious beliefs, and those established beliefs/practices that are trying to be infringed do not harm another or restrict another’s rights.. then yes.
Then why do you keep doing it, you hypocritical bigot?
Except for what you have said in the past. You have said that you find no fault when owners are paid more than janitors and admitted there were different pay rates in your company. Are you now saying that you lied previously and that all people in your company make the same pay? Or are you now denying the truth because your hypocrisy has been shown again? (And again, and again, and again, and again…)
So why do you hate workers, Jeffery?
This is in addition to your assertion that the government should not protect intellectual property and patents while maintaining your own patents in order to make more money.
So why the hypocrisy, Jeffery?
Gee, I can see where you got that from what I said. (Actually, I cannot but I am trying to be polite instead of mocking your reading and comprehension skills.)
I’ll try this again.
The government is set up to protect the rights of people. That includes the right to believe or not believe in a set of morals and beliefs.
The funny thing is that you are such a hypocrite that you hate Christianity but don’t see that I don’t hate your atheistic views. In short Jeffery, you think that your rights and your beliefs trumps laws, rights and all other belief systems.
Once again, we see that you are not only a bigot, but a hypocrite.

g2,
As always, when you can’t attack the arguments, you attack the person.
“Then why do you keep doing it, you hypocritical bigot?” — I don’t, you low IQ kochsucker.
“You have said that you find no fault when owners are paid more than janitors and admitted there were different pay rates in your company. Are you now saying that you lied previously and that all people in your company make the same pay?” — Nice try. Straw man argument + red herring + ad hominem attack. Who, myself included, has advocated that everyone make the same amount? And what does that have to do employers forcing their employees to abide by their the corporation’s religious beliefs? BTW, asshat, I vacuum our offices.
I don’t hate Christianity. The irrational beliefs of others in a stone age goatherder myth is none of my business AS LONG AS BELIEVERS DON’T ATTEMPT TO FORCE OTHERS TO ABIDE BY THEIR BELIEFS. My wife of 40+ years is a devout Christian.
I note that you conveniently didn’t answer any questions about your own beliefs. As a libertarian, I’m certain you feel that gays should by able to marry, with all the legal rights and privileges that attend. Abortion? Should women be able to have sex for money? Should children be forced to listen to/ even participate in prayers offered by their teachers? Should thousands of employees in a corporation be forced to abide by the religious beliefs of their few employers?
Here’s an article we should all read and discuss.

This is a point I’ve tried to make before. Income inequality is not a problem because of social justice, or natural law, or the Constitution. It’s a problem because it will continue to destabilize our nation. The working classes need more money, and our economic system has been designed to deliver just the opposite.
Also, read Dean Baker’s book, The End of Loser Liberalism (it’s a free download), which starts:
“Money does not fall up. Yet the United States has experienced a massive upward redistribution of income over the last three decades, leaving the bulk of the workforce with little to show from the economic growth since 1980. This upward redistribution was not the result of the natural workings of the market. Rather, it was the result of deliberate policy, most of which had the support of the leadership of both the Republican and Democratic parties…”
http://deanbaker.net/books/the-end-of-loser-liberalism.htm
(g2 will attack the authors for being hypocrites in 3, 2, 1…)
Really?
Clearly you are either so stoned or drunk that you don’t know what you write. Self awareness is a virtue Jeffery – a virtue that you do not posess.
Oh. I am sorry. I thought that you were talking about how income inequity was a horrible thing even though the gap has quadrupled under the policies of Obama and the Democrats – policies that you support. Don’t you just hate it when you call people out on things that really show how silly and hypocritical your own beliefs and actions are? (Okay, maybe you don’t. But honest people do.)
I understand now. Income inequity only matters when you are talking about other people.
I don’t know what it has to do with it. Why are you bringing up a false statement? What company forces their employees to abide by their religious beliefs? Maybe you should start asking why the government forces business owners to act against their religious beliefs? Or is it your position that business owners should not have the same rights as others?
Well, I suppose that is just another way that you suck.
(But of course, it doesn’t address the income inequity in your company and the corollary of why you hate workers. Nice try at a deflection though.)
And you would know that how?
Sorry, like so many things you seem to think, you got wrong.
Aren’t you tired of being wrong so often as well as being a hypocritical bigot?
And yet you contribute and cause that inequity that you hate. You want others to do what you will not.
g2,
Are you interested in discussing the policies that contribute to income inequality in the US? I didn’t think so.
Why do you attack my success? Using my own money and hard work (including a couple of years of no salary) I started a company with 4 former colleagues during the Great Recession that is now successful and will make significant advances in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. I set out on my own at 18 without a penny. I worked my way through college and graduate school. Married over 40 years, we’ve raised wonderful children and have even more wonderful grandchildren. I obey every law. I pay my taxes (a lot!) without whining. I give to charity. I live a simple life in a working class neighborhood in a small, energy-efficient home we bought some 35 years ago.
I’ve worked my butt off my entire life. But you know what? I was lucky in that I inherited good genes, have been healthy, and my parents instilled a solid work ethic in me and my many siblings. We were dirt poor and had to learn independence.
Even in a small town a few miles north of the Missouri- Arkansas border, I was lucky to be able to attend good public schools, racially integrated even in the 50s and 60s. I was able to see the hurt in my black friend’s faces as we walked together and other white kids would yell “nigger” and “nigger-lover” at us. My best friend in grade school, a black kid also from a large family, recently retired from GM; a life well-lived. I wonder if the kids yelling “nigger” and “nigger-lover” fared as well as we did?
We had a good local state college, so I was able to pay the low tuition by working part-time. I was able to attend graduate school by working. The National Institutes of Health funded my training at an elite medical center for 4 years. I spent 2 decades in drug development with big pharma companies, saved my money and retired early to start smaller, more-focused companies. My wife spent 4 decades busting her butt in a small company and now owns it.
So excuse me if I don’t accept your incessant whining attacks on me personally. The fact is “I didn’t build this”. I had help. As a society we all need help, and also to help. Income inequality is harming the nation. Please read the insightful article by Mr. Hanauer.
Please read Dr. Baker’s book on the policies we’ve enacted over the years to enable upward income distribution.
I don’t pretend to understand what drives the rage and hatred of the far-right. Typically such actions and emotions erupt from fear.
Jeffery,
I am not attacking your “success.”
You are.
Your own actions in how you treat your own employees and their “income inequity” demonstrates that despite all your bluster of wanting others to close the income gap (made greater by the policies you support) you won’t do a thing in your life what you demand others to do.
You hate others that are successful and demand they do more but you won’t do a thing in your company. You want to protect what you believe and want to suppress others who believe differently. You want higher taxes but don’t want to pay them yourself. You want to cut down on CO2 and yet have not one but many cars.
Well, you pretend to understand everything else within your fantasy so it is somewhat surprising that you make up some fantasy on hatred from the right and then say “I don’t understand.” Maybe you can get your unicorn to explain reality to you. The fact is that there is no hatred from the right. It is on the left. You hate religions. You hate success. You hate anything that allows people control of their lives.
In short, the best thing that you can realize on this July 4th is that you are a hypocritical bigot who hates freedom.
g2,
I know you are, but what am I?
One thing I do understand is your envy. And that you are a consistent and talented liar.
I also understand that you refuse to discuss issues. I’ve played this game with you before.
