If you start thinking “hey, this seems familiar, are you sure this isn’t a story from years past?”, you’re certainly right. It seems familiar to me, and I know I’ve posted similar articles in years past as we approach Thanksgiving.
I like how the headline says “could” while the permalink says “will”. I guess they realized that it would be foolish to take a hard stance when the facts are iffy
Food is at the center of many American holidays. And changes to the climate pattern will affect where and how food is grown. The Guardian takes a look at how the Thanksgiving meal might be affected by climate change if it continues at the current rate.
Turkeys depend on corn for food so changes to the corn crop could substantially affect the turkey market. Since corn cannot seed at a temperature higher than ninety-five degrees, says US food guru Michael Pollan, production may eventually need to move north. And if it moves as north as Canada, we’ll be importing more of our Thanksgiving meals.
Pumpkin Pie supplies were put at risk in 2009 as floods swept Morton, Illinois, where most domestic pumpkins are grown. Substantial increases in rainfall may endanger current pumpkin infrastructure. Concerning the crust, the the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change confirms that world wheat yields are down due to rising temperatures.
This is all part of the typical Scareathon pushed by the Cult of Warming. Hey, there were floods? That never happened before. It must be due to Other People driving fossil fueled vehicles.
Corn? The main corn producer states, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and Minnesota, have a long way to go hit 95 degress. In order, their average summer monthly temperatures are 71.6, 73.4, 69, and 66.8. That’s for June, July, and August.
If you click that Guardian link, they take on pecan pie, wine, stuffing, potatoes, and other Thanksgiving foods. I love the way the food looks in the picture, kinda like a Michelle Obama school meal. Anyhow, this just goes to show that Warmist will attempt to ruin everything with their insane adherence to their Cult.
Just a few days ago Instapundit posted a tongue-in-cheek link “when wild turkeys attack.”
Apparently there’s been a great increase in wild turkey flocks, at least in the east/northeast US.
…So much for that shibboleth…
