PRESIDENT OBAMA: “Thanks to the investments we made in the Recovery Act we’ve seen huge gains in our advanced battery industry. Because, solar and wind don’t work unless we’ve got good ways to store power when the sun’s out or the winds blowing so that it can be used in a regular, reliable way.â€
That’s from a speech he made today regarding his wonderful Stimulus in Jacksonville, Florida, so, yet again, massive use of fossil fuels in terms of planes, helicopters, and vehicles.
Let’s not forget all the failures and wasted money from the “green” portion of Obama’s stimulus, which really didn’t do a whole lot to stimulate the economy. Well, China’s economy, what with all that borrowed money.
Both solar and wind max out during the time of day when power is most needed

The amateur finally figured out we need battery storage – lots and lots of it – so we can run our homes at night.
But the greenies don’t want to talk about that, batteries are very, very bad very the environment, and the number and sizes we would need is simply staggering.
These simpletons want those solar and wind farms miles and miles away from their own particular private little paradise, but don’t want to install the hundreds of miles of power lines need to get the power to them… power lines are ugly, and the batteries? Forget it!
The bottom line, which they absolutely refuse to discuss, is that solar and wind is not – and will never be – cost effective. but that’s fine by them, let the Fed just print more money. That’ll fix EVERYTHING!
It’s difficult to understand how people with a higher education – many who endlessly flaunt their precious(but worthless) college degrees – can be so damned stupid.
Again, all-or-none “reasoning” is on display. We don’t have to replace 100% of our energy supply, but we need to greatly reduce our reliance on CO2 polluting technologies.
With all energy sources there are trade-offs.

I totally agree with you, the battery issue is more of an environmental hazard than anything fossil fuels can do, but they will not even mention it.
