Go America. Go America. Go America
Dalton Carriker couldn’t feel his legs as he rounded the bases.
His home run in the bottom of the eighth had just given Warner Robins, Ga., a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tokyo to win the Little League World Series title.
"I felt like I was flying, like Peter Pan," Carriker said. "I didn’t know what I was doing."
Adrenaline took over from there, said the 12-year-old slugger with braces.
His dramatic home run over the right-field wall off a 2-1 pitch from Japan’s Junsho Kiuchi gave the United States three straight Little League championships.
No doubt about it, America is #1!
"USA! USA!" cried the Georgia-partisan crowd as dozens of fans waved American flags. Columbus, Ga., won the crown last year, and Ewa Beach, Hawaii, in 2005.
Except for the libs, I’m sure, who seethed over this good news for America.
I read this morning that a bus carrying the defeated Japan team caught fire! But thankfully all the kids were OK and got off the bus in time! Damn!
when I say, “damn”, I mean like, “Damn! Can you imagine?!”
I saw that after I wrote the story and was about to leave for work. Weird, huh? Glad to hear that the kids were OK.
And the American kids (from Georgia, I might add!) comforted the Japanese kids when they were upset over losing.
You have to love Americans – we are tough AND nice!
You betcha!
