This is horrible! People might actually have to pay a tiny amount for their own contraception, sterilization procedures, and abortion pills!
(The Hill) The era of free birth control for women could be coming to an end.
The requirement that insurance companies cover contraception at no cost is believed to be on the chopping block now that Tom Price has taken over the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Price opposed the mandate as a member of Congress and could take aim at the regulation — and other rules related to ObamaCare — as Republicans in Congress move to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
There’s no such thing as free. Someone is paying for it, and, with Ocare, this meant higher premiums for all. Realistically, the mandate, which had zero basis in law, since it appears nowhere with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), was meant to pander to women, in an attempt to gain their support. So, now, if you force all these super empowered women to pay a measly $9 a month for birth control pills, it will mean you hate women, and Democrats can trot out their war on women meme again.
Conservative Republicans have opposed the mandate since it was issued by the Obama administration, saying it infringes on religious liberty by requiring employers to pay for contraception coverage, regardless of their beliefs.
It does infringe on religious liberty.
Now that Republicans hold Congress and the White House, they have the chance to do away with the mandate entirely.
Reversing the birth-control mandate would not necessarily require an act of Congress. HHS could issue a regulation excluding birth control from the list of women’s preventive health services that insurers must cover with no cost sharing.
Getting rid of it is as easy as waving a pen. It was a rule created out of thin air by HHS, not a requirement via the PPACA. Then, if insurance companies want to offer this as an elective, they have that choice.
Prepare for Unhinged Level 10 from Progressives.
The money line:
I could see some companies insisting that their insurance carriers continue with this. Pregnancy costs businesses money, in lost productivity and time away from work. More, having children adds to the business’ costs in higher insurance premiums. The ideal situation for a business is for the workers to have no children.
Of course, the left would never be satisfied if companies had a choice as to whether to cover contraception.
Making contraception less available increases abortions. Always has, always will. Proving again that conservatives care nothing about fetuses but want to control women.
White cons are always afraid that their women will cheat on them with a more appealing man. The threat of pregnancy helped to control their women. It’s why con men objected to birth control pills – the Mrs. could pop a pill each morning and bang the pool boy in the afternoon with little fear.
Please explain how contraception will be made less available, little guy.
Nobody is making contraception any less available. Can’t you not lie for just one lousy comment? Fetuses have nothing to do with it, choice does. Your choice is to use it or not and if you do then you choose to pay for it.
“White cons”? As usual your racism is showing as well as your leftist privilege.
It’s in no way less available. Availability won’t change at all just because government is no longer mandating that Other People will be forced to pay for people to have risky sex.
