Car Crashes Now Blamed On ‘Climate Change’

I know, I know, you’re totally surprised by this. What’s most shocking is it took them this long

Study Blames Global Warming, Not Cell Phones, For Spike In Car Accident Deaths

Global warming was responsible for thousands of road deaths in 2015, according to a new study, contradicting many public safety experts who blame increased cell phone use for the spike in traffic fatalities.

“As temperatures continue to increase from heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere, road deaths will likely increase more than expected unless there are major mitigating countermeasures,” retired Yale University epidemiologist Leon Robertson said in a statement.

What the study attempts to do is blame the warmth and rain for more people being on the road

“If millions more people drive cars because the temperature is getting warmer … then that adds up to a lot of miles,” Robertson told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. “Mainly it’s a simple multiplication.”

Or, hey, it could be that there are more drivers. Shocking notion, eh?

The Transportation Department, however, said human factors were to blame for most of the traffic deaths in 2015. Human factors include drunk driving, distracted driving — which includes cell phone use — and speeding.

The department also found “[vehicle miles traveled] and the average monthly temperature had strong, positive relationships with the number of fatalities, meaning that more fatalities tended to occur when more driving was done, and also when weather was warmer.”

You also add in that gas prices are down. So, yes, people do tend to get out and about when it is warmer. Is that anything unusual? But, the nutters are specifically blaming “carbon pollution” for warming, and, there’s a wee bit of a problem with blaming anthropogenic global warming, or, heck, natural global warming

Huh.

I think we’ve pretty much exhausted all the possible connections – but I’m going out on a limb here and say that 97.85% of scientists and 102.3% of all climate studies support the fact that climate change is principally caused by Climate Change. But I could be wrong.

I work in utility construction & spend most of my time working on the side of the road, in the middle of the road, or driving A class vehicles. I spend a lot of time watching out for people in cars. A sizable minority of people are paying more attention to their smart phones instead of driving, a majority of drivers are paying almost no attention to driving. Imagine driving an A class dump truck pulling a trailer with an excavator in heavy traffic as the car on your right speeds up, drops back, and randomly swerves into your lane as they put on their makeup, as the fellow on your left does the same thing because he’s checking a Facebook post. I won’t be hurt if some idiot swerves into my lane, they will certainly be killed. I won’t go into how often people run over cones, speed through your work zone or drive directly into your coned off work zone.

I was driving the interstate early one morning and passed a woman who was going 65 to 70. She did not have a hand on the wheel as she was putting on make up. She also had a mirror in front of her and could not see the road. People are nuts.

Increases in traffic collisions are definitely due to cell phone social media usage.

Which is due to climate change anxiety, of course.

Perhaps if our esteemed host could publish a list of bad things not caused by global warming climate change, we’d have better information . . . as well as a far shorter list!

I am a volunteer fireman. Yes, I have entered burning buildings to fight fires. But I have to say that one of the most dangerous of all my duties has been directing traffic at the scene of an auto accident or natural disaster. All the behavior that Bob Spelled Backwards mentions applies. What part of six flares across the road don’t you understand?
