President Donald Trump has been open to a big plan to fix America’s infrastructure, and has tried working with Democrats previously, but, they were pains in the behind and caused that push to die
(CNN) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer will meet with President Donald Trump on Tuesday in an effort to find common ground on infrastructure policy even as tensions run high over ongoing Democratic-led investigations into the administration in the wake of the Mueller report.
The meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. ET at the White House, a senior Democratic aide told CNN.
Rebuilding America’s infrastructure has long been talked about as an area of potential cooperation between Democrats and the President since both have described investing in infrastructure as a priority. That’s no guarantee, however, that the two sides will agree on an infrastructure plan, especially since congressional Democrats and Trump rarely agree on anything.
“Our message is: Let’s work together,” Pelosi told reporters on Monday, adding, “The American people understand the need to build the infrastructure of our country. Let’s find a solution.”

The leaders laid out other Democratic priorities: Any deal must extend beyond traditional infrastructure projects, take into account climate change, include “Buy America†provisions and provide jobs for a broad swath of workers.
“A big and bold infrastructure package must be comprehensive and include clean energy and resiliency priorities,” Pelosi and Schumer wrote. “To truly be a gamechanger for the American people, we should go beyond transportation and into broadband, water, energy, schools, housing and other initiatives. We must also invest in resiliency and risk mitigation of our current infrastructure to deal with climate change.”
So, instead of just trying to fix infrastructure, they want to delve into all sorts of other things, including Hotcoldwetdry idiocy. This should be a short meeting. Because these demands are not opening requests which lead to negotiation, they want it all or they won’t cooperate.

The council met Monday night and chose its chairman, Sam Page, to fill the executive seat until the November 2020 election. Under the county charter, the County Council had to pick a Democrat, the same party as Stenger.

I want California, Oregon, Washington State and Hawaii to pull out of the UNION. If they agree to do that and form their own nation I will agree to tax hikes and climate change iniativies. Lets see that would be 8 less democratic senators and about 50 less house members and perpetually give the right all three branches of government. And then The great New England states could pull out as well and form their own nation. Then Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin could petition to join Canada. Leaving Nirvana in the United States as we control the gulf coast, Atlantic coast. Then we could extend our walls to include the California, Oregon and Washington Borders and life would be grand.
Sounds fair to me. I mean after all. This is about as absurd of demands as the left continually places on any deal to work with Trump for the American people.
I have forgotten the book name and author, but a Russian did suggest that the U.S. can not hold together and would likely split along the lines that you have defined.

Actually, America builds infrastructure every year, in a deliberate ongoing basis. It’s how we do things. Only Congress thinks that we need their annual interference in the process to make this stuff happen.
We should probably not tell them that building certain “walls” are an infrastructure program.
I don’t agree with Donald sometimes, but I support Donald all of the time because I believe he is truly aiming to MAGA.
Here is one socialist act that I do not agree with Bigly:
Centralized government spending trillions on infrastructure is a characteristic socialist act. States that took better care of their own roads and bridges are going to (again) have to pay for California and other socialist states. Each State having to pay for their own infrastructure would force the socialist States to be responsible with their own tax payers’ money.
We have got to get back to being our Constitutional Republic. We are currently leaving future generations with massive, crippling debt we are spending on ourselves, and that is certainly evil.
I understand your position. But there is no inherent difference between Large centralized programs and smaller centralized programs.
The central issues that matter are:
1. Can you afford the project?
2. Is the project worth what will be paid?
3. Are there higher priorities that should get the money instead?
Since the answer to the first one is “no”, it really doesn’t matter what the other two are. Politicians of both parties love to spend huge amounts of other people’s money because that is how their friends get rich. Then their friends are appreciative.
It seems that our infrastructure is in an advanced stage of decay and that much of the infrastructure is entwined with the central government already, so a state initiative is impractical.
Maybe where you live. If you ignore what you read on the internet and look around, you get a different picture. Where I live, bridges and roads are as well maintained as ever. Canals are not collapsing. Municipal water and power supplies are staying ahead of demands. And then there is that Yuge gasoline tax transportation fund that gets spent every year. The “crumbling infrastructure” argument is just another manufactured crisis that politicians use to justify spending a trillion dollars and no one will notice where the money went.
