At this point it is hard to distinguish between real, common sense stuff and propaganda designed to keep people in fear and willing to give their liberty up to Government
Although the rise of Covid-19 variants in the United States could spell trouble, pharmaceutical companies and scientists are confident vaccines will evolve with them, senior White House adviser Andy Slavitt told CNN.
“I spoke to all the pharmaceutical companies and scientists, and they all say the same thing: Even if these vaccines diminish a little bit, they will be able to continually update them,” Slavitt, who is responsible for the Covid response, told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Thursday.
The US has witnessed a 26% decline in new cases from this time last week, continuing the trend of the steepest decline in new cases since the start of the pandemic, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
But variants, many of which appear to be more transmissible, have been spreading, with more than 1,500 cases reported in the US, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
But, see, if we can double time it on vaccines we can maybe possibly fix this
Vaccination delays caused by harsh winter weather gripping much of the US means that many people will have to work “double time” to get back on track, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci.
“It’s been slowed down; in some places going to a grinding halt,” Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, said in an interview with MSNBC on Thursday.
Remember all the articles on continuing to mask and keep locked down even after you get the vaccine, even after herd immunity?
Even as cases continue to decline and more Americans receive their vaccines, the coronavirus isn’t likely to go away anytime soon, health officials say.
The nation’s top infectious diseases expert Dr. Anthony Fauci dismissed the idea that COVID-19 would be eradicated in the next several years at a webinar hosted by think tank Chatham House in November.
“We need to plan that this is something we may need to maintain control over chronically. It may be something that becomes endemic, that we have to just be careful about,†he said.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines endemic as the “constant presence and/or usual prevalence†of a disease within a population in a certain geographic area.
An endemic disease spreads at a baseline level every year without causing major disruption to people’s lives, said Dr. Donald Burke, professor of epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
Yes, but because it will be endemic, the Powers That Be can continue to make proclamations and issue edicts. Think they won’t? You haven’t been watching over the last year.
Teach may not understand the meaning of “endemic”.
Unlike smallpox which has been eradicated, Dr. Fauci suggests that the SARS-CoV-2 virus infections will likely exist at low levels that can be dealt with by ordinary means.
Teach considers Dr. Fauci and any other public health official to be a combination of Stalin, Mao, Idi Amin and Dr. Mengele, out to control your every move – or worse.
But please understand that Mr Teach is a provocateur, an avocation where science and reason are anathema. As a result of a religious-like adherence to an ignorant ideology, actions and inactions as promoted by that former guy and his acolytes such as Mr Teach made the current pandemic worse for us all.
“Covid”??? I guess the humor of cartoon names is fading as we approach 500000 dead
Of course the “fake news” meme stopped months ago
Jeff,
Trying to appear as an authority makes you look like a dumbass. The excessive response to a minor illness like COVID makes many wonder what the underlying motive may be. Countries and states that have not instituted the horrific restrictions have actually faired better than states like California and New York. So the motive of the powers is called to question. Note that in New York the hands on approach from Cuomo has resulted in a large number of unnecessary deaths and massive destruction of their economy. Your attempt at giving an example was fairly stupid. Another example of endemic illness is plague which is endemic in the US, yet we don’t go crazy over this much more severe illness.
John,
100,000 people have died in the few weeks since Biden took control and he has made the vaccines much harder to get. We yearn for Trump and his approach to this complex issue.
Now we see the results of the Dems stealing the election.
david,
0.5 million dead Americans is a minor illness? It’s up there with heart disease and cancer.
It seems you also may not understand the meaning of endemic. An endemic disease exists in a population at a low frequency. Chickenpox was the example given. Most adults have lifetime immunity based on either past disease or immunization, but it is still seen in children who have not been vaccinated. Vaccination in the US has reduced the incidence significantly. Fortunately, chickenpox kills fewer than 1 in 10 million population. Unfortunately, Covid this year has killed about 1 in 500 Americans.
Jeff,
You don’t have a clue about anything medical related so it does not help to explain things to you. COVID is a minor illness and has been well treated by Trump. The numbers for CIVID are intentionally inflated, The illness kills less than 1% in most populations. If you desire to fear your shadow, be my guest.
boogaloo,
Minor diseases do not kill 500,000 Americans in a year. Is lung cancer minor? Are MIs minor? Liars such as you get your information from FOX, ONAN or Newsmax. There is no evidence the numbers of dead are inflated, just as there’s no evidence that “the former guy” beat President Biden. If Covid killed 1% of Americans that would be 3.3 million dead, so thank allah the virus doesn’t.
Typical stupid response Jeff. Why are you so afraid of this virus, especially as Trump has lessened its impact. And, you are not in New York were Cuomo could kill you.
boogaloo,
What’s makes you think I’m afraid of this virus? What a stupid thing for you to say.
“That former guy” did nothing to lessen the impact.
Unforeseen consequences, likely things will thaw out in a few days with Spring approaching.
There will be plenty of blame to go around, but what are the going to do to prevent recurrence?
