Climate change hits home for Latinos

Latinos in the fight against climate change will gather this week during a virtual summit highlighting the community’s growing environmental activism.
The big picture: Climate change and pollution have outsized impacts on communities of color in the U.S.
- Unsafe water is more common and studies show people of color are more vulnerable to wildfires and environmental disasters fueled by climate change.
- A newly released Harvard study found majority Hispanic, Black and Asian neighborhoods across the country are consistently exposed to higher levels of pollution particles.
- Climate change and pollutant exposure also cause greater displacement, wealth loss and long term health issues for people of color.
By the numbers: 81% of Latinos in the U.S. consider addressing global climate change a priority, compared to 67% of non-Hispanics, according to a Pew Research Center poll.
Now, see, here’s where the problem lies: things like unsafe water, higher pollution, and pollutant exposure are environmental issues, and have zero to do with the climate crisis scam. But, instead of working to fix those environmental issues the climate cult rolls them into their policies, which never actually fix the issues. They just waste time and money on things that won’t help. And year after year after year those environmental problems persist.
Global warming and environmental insults are worse for the poor than the middle and donor classes. Latinos and Blacks are overrepresented in the poor.
Good-now come up with what is allegedly happening to the “poor” that hasn’t happened before.
Central and South America are predominantly Latino and Hispanic and live in filth, squalor, and poverty in nations replete with violence and anarchy bubbling just below the surface of each countries societal mesh.
The large cities are where each nation focuses its resources as well as where ninety percent of all companies put their businesses in order to have a large labor force to draw from in these countries. You will not find 3M building a giant factory in the middle of the rainforest of Brazil.
The same thing occurs in the United States. Large companies put their manufacturing facilities in or near large cities where people of color tend to congregate. This by the nature of economics is why People of Color including Latino’s are much more likely to be affected by Poverty and Pollution.
This is the most disingenuous approach to climate change I have ever seen, even though I see it used almost daily. Where people gather is where big business builds their factories and pollution-spewing facilities because of a plethora of labor. Not the other way around.
I of all people am not defending big business but rather pointing out the fallacy of this argument. and how deceptive a poll can be conducted by pew research which generally is pretty accurate with their social polling. In this case, Pew does get the percent mostly right, but without context, it becomes a lie used to prove a negative.
