AGW Today: Disease, Zombies, Frogs And Birds

We’re doooooooooomed!

Health experts meeting at an international conference this week in Spain predict global warming could lead to the spread of more than a dozen infectious diseases into new regions of the world. If not addressed, the experts say, the development could impact both human and animal health. VOA’s Jessica Berman reports.

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) issued a list it calls the Deadly Dozen, 12 wildlife diseases or pathogens the organization says could spread into new regions as a result of global warming.

The list includes cholera, the Ebola virus, plague, Rift Valley fever, sleeping sickness, tuberculosis and yellow fever. Some of the diseases only affect wildlife, some affect humans and some affect both.

Nothing about zombies? I heard anthropogenic global warming causes zombies, who, instead of eating our brains, make us eat veggies and spread awareness of AGW

Inconvenient Youth, a non-profit, non-partisan network for and by teens, announced today that more than 1,100 young adults have registered for the organization’s online social network. Since its August 2008 launch, Inconvenient Youth has trained young people to educate their peers about climate change. The group is currently touring the U.S. to recruit members and raise awareness of global warming.

“By becoming a member of Inconvenient Youth, teens can learn how to effectively educate others about global warming,” said Inconvenient Youth founder Mary Doerr, a high school senior. “Social networking, in general, is a perfect way for young people to stay informed. On Inconvenient Youth, they can show their enthusiasm for the cause and unite in the fight against climate change.”

Will George Romero make a movie about it? Maybe he could make one about the spread of the Bubonic Plague at the onset of the Little Ice Age. Creating zombies, of course.

(Scotsman) MORE than half the world’s amphibians and more than a third of birds face possible extinction because of climate change, a study has warned.

More than seven out of ten warm-water reef corals are also particularly susceptible to changing climate, yesterday’s report from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) said.

Some 3,438 of the world’s 9,856 bird species and 3,217 of the 6,222 amphibians were “climate change susceptible”.

Yada yada yada. If it was getting colder, as Newsweek and Time said was to occur in the mid-70’s, we would be talking about the same thing. Most who think Man is the cause of “climate change” take no steps themselves to minimize their “carbon footprint.” Instead, they use the issue to push draconian measures that would control people’s lives, private industry, and governments. Effectively, they would turn us into the kinds of zombies we saw in the Soviet Union.

It’s a fair criticism. Do you include John McCain in this group? He is the candidate you support and he accepts the scientific evidence that man-made greenhouse gas emissions are responsible for the current warming trend.
