    A West Virginia Republican state senator, Robert Karnes (R-WV) is under fire after arguing on the Senate floor that children who have been raped “romanticize” their sexual abusers, saying the children are involved in “relationships” with their abusers, and see them as a “boyfriend.”

    The legendary basketball player Bill Russell passed away yesterday. Russell was arguably the greatest basketball player in history, winning 8 straight NBA championships and 11 championships during his 13 year career. He was also the first Black man to coach a major sports team in America. Russell also won Olympic gold and two NCAA championships. He was further lauded for his outspoken civil rights activism.

    The Supreme Court on Monday certified its month-old ruling allowing the Biden administration to end a cornerstone Trump-era border policy to make asylum-seekers wait in Mexico for hearings in U.S. immigration court.

    The two-word docket entry read “judgment issued” to record that justices voted 5-4 in a ruling issued June 30 that the administration could scrap the “Remain in Mexico” policy, overruling a lower court that forced the policy to be reinstated in December.

    Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said shortly after the Supreme Court victory that justices would need to communicate the decision to a lower court, which, in turn, should lift the order to keep the policy in place in a lawsuit filed by the state of Texas.

    Right-wing terrorist goes to prison…

    Washington — A federal judge on Monday sentenced Guy Reffitt, the Texas man convicted of bringing a handgun to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack, to 87 months in prison, the longest sentence so far related to the 2021 assault.

    A member of the far-right militia group the Texas Three Percenters, Reffitt was the first defendant to stand trial on charges stemming from the attack. He was found guilty in March of five criminal counts, including obstructing Congress’ certification of President Biden’s Electoral College win.

    Refitt’s daughter said DonJon tRump should be in prison for life. Smart girl.

    BTW, tRump hopes that running for president again will immunize him against prosecution.
