Change you can believe in!
An 18-year veteran of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), who advocated for federal legislation to give the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States a path to citizenship, has been tapped for President-elect Barack Obama’s White House staff.Â
Cecilia Muñoz, who currently serves as senior vice president for the office of research, advocacy and legislation at the NCLR, will serve as director for intergovernmental affairs in the Obama administration.
Oh, good, another “community organizer,” if you will. Someone with little experience in the real world other then being a sop for the illegal aliens. In other words, we have a person who has essentially spent her life fighting to break the law going added to the White House staff.
Muñoz said she supported comprehensive immigration reform that required people who are in the United States illegally to come forward, prove they have no criminal record and are paying taxes, pay a fine, start to learn English, and then be put on a path to citizenship that would take about 10 years to complete.
“We’re not rewarding illegality,†Muñoz said. “We are asking (illegal immigrants) to earn something and we’re asking them to pay a fine. And then we need to move on.â€
Actually, you are rewarding illegality. Perhaps we could put the same measure forth for rapists, pedophiles, and murderers. Oh, wait, lots of illegals do those things, too.
In other news, Arizonian’s (Arizonans?) aren’t too impressed with the pick of Napolitano for Homeland Security
If Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano wins confirmation as secretary of homeland security, she will be responsible for enforcing the nation’s immigration laws. This is a chilling thought for those of us who have witnessed up close how Napolitano can be vexed to the point of paralysis by that highly charged issue.
Good quality for the Sec of Homeland Security. But, then, we will soon have a president who did everything he could to vote present and avoid almost every tough issue.
I can tell you that the Customs and Border Protection agents I know aren’t really too excited by her nomination…. I need to ask some of my ICE buddies what they think, though I think I already know their answer…
And by her I mean Napolitano.. L-)
