The political pleasantries didn’t last long.
Immediately after appearing together in public for the first time Friday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., took aim at Mayor Adams’ plan to erect a migrant tent camp in her district, charging that there’s a “better solution” to be had.
The progressive congresswoman, who’s had a simmering beef with the more moderate-minded mayor for months, offered the rebuke in a brief interview with the Daily News on the steps of City Hall following a press conference with Adams on an unrelated topic.
“I think we can get to a place with a better solution here,” Ocasio-Cortez said when asked about the tent facilities being built in the Bronx’s Orchard Beach parking lot to house upward of 1,000 Latin American migrants.
Ocasio-Cortez said she also ”very much“ sides with ”the sentiment” of Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, who raised a number of concerns about the Orchard Beach site earlier this week, including poor transit access and susceptibility to flooding.
I’m sure she’s fine with the tents in other districts. Just another case of an open border liberal wanting all those illegals/migrants to be Somewhere Else. Someone Else’s Problem.
Why would you think that she would be “fine” with migrants being houses in tents ANYWHERE?
NYC is already negotiating to lesse a Norwegian cruise ship to house migrant families. Each year 10 or so ships are scrapped they could hold 25000 migrant refugees until better accomodations are available. Should those migrants be encouraged/allowed/ forced to work? Our unemployment rate is extremely low companies need more workers there are 11 million jobs that need workers. Don’t libertarians want to be able to hire workers free from government interference?
Hairy they are not “migrants” they are illegal aliens, invading hordes, a threat to America. You must know the best and brightest are not walking across the Rio Grande to join our great Republic. Not necessarily “illegal”. The US, like most civilized nations, has a process for dealing with asylum seekers.
We’re all ‘illegals’, each of us has committed a misdemeanor where we weren’t caught. You know, speeding, rolling a stop sign, spitting, crossing against the light…
We do not have “open borders”.
That said, most crossing the border not at Border Patrol Stations or Ports of Entry are not formally seeking asylum.
Economic reasons don’t appear to be qualifying.
Insane idea hairy if you think that you can put 25000 people on a boat designed to hold at max 5000k of workers and passengers.
Who gets the penthouse suites? Have you been on a cruise ship? Most of those staterooms are not much bigger than a tent Buried in the bowels of a ship.
Additionally, a Cruise ship would be a Petri dish for disease and covid, flu and colds, given that most migrants are not fully vaccinated as in MMR, tetanus, pneumonia, shingle etc. The amount of crime involved as the people rip out the guts of the ships to sell them for money and basically you have no need to scrape the ship. It will probably sink after about 3 months.

Given that illegal aliens are flowing through with no action to stop them from entering then by definition the border is open. Catching some and releasing them is not an act of closure.
