Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., says former President Donald Trump “was right” to go after the China-owned video-sharing app TikTok.
Warner made the comments during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, telling host Shannon Bream that the app represents a major threat to Americans’ privacy. He also warned parents against allowing their children to download the app on their phones.
“Well, I think Donald Trump was right. I mean, TikTok is an enormous threat,” Warner told Bream. “So, if you’re a parent, and you’ve got a kid on TikTok, I would be very, very concerned. All of that data that your child is inputting and receiving is being stored somewhere in Beijing.”
Warner is only the most recent in a series of U.S. politicians and officials to call for a crackdown on TikTok. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr called on regulators to ban the app in the U.S., and FBI Director Christopher Wray warned that it contributes to China’s status as the No. 1 thief of U.S. data in the world.
“China’s vast hacking program is the world’s largest, and they have stolen more Americans’ personal and business data than every other nation combined,” Wray told lawmakers last week, adding specifically of TikTok: “[Dangers] include the possibility that the Chinese government could use it to control data collection on millions of users or control the recommendation algorithm, which could be used for influence operations if they so chose or to control software on millions of devices, which gives the opportunity to potentially tactically compromise personal devices.”
For all Trump’s bombastic behavior, he was usually right. And he wasn’t the only one saying it. One of my favorite fun sites, Bored Panda, had a post years ago saying how dangerous it is. But, I’m not going to scroll back to find it, because BP keeps using TikTok posts. Wired says it’s a national security threat. The NY Times said it was dangerous (before taking the opposite view because Trump said it was dangerous). The FCC under Biden says it’s dangerous, especially for kids. TikTok’s user base mostly consists of children and adolescents, which many consider to be vulnerable groups. This is a main reason for different authorities to express their worries. However, it isn’t just the youth that might be in danger from TikTok. Privacy regulators from the EU also decided to study TikTok’s privacy policy, and even Reddit’s CEO harshly condemned TikTok’s practices.

As is typical for the left, five dead homosexuals is a crisis to be used, but 464v dead Philadelphians, about 85% of whom are black, well that’s really nothing, because we just expect that in Kensington and Strawberry Mansion and North Philadelphia.
Of course, while the Colorado Springs killer might not have been homosexual, and thus it’s a hate crime, in Philly the killers of so many Negroes are almost always black themselves, so we can’t say anything bad about the murders.

A few VPNs are a wise choice. You get what you pay for. There are what is known as the 5 eyes and the 14 eyes which all share intel with each other. They can go to a VPN that is headquartered in any of those 14 countries and demand and receive intel on anyone using their VPN anywhere in the 12 eyes countries. If you are headquartered outside of the 14 eyes but have a server inside a 14-eye country you are still free from their prying eyes for the most part.
For example, there are some excellent VPNs that are headquartered in the USA. That makes them about as secure as a blind man on a street corner in NY with a hat on the ground filled with 1000-dollar bills.
Tik-Tok should be shut down but unfortunately, kids have jumped on the Tik-Tok bandwagon and it is an egregious evil website that puts anyone at risk using it. A vpn and good internet security, a chained router set up and Malwarebytes might actually keep you safe on the internet even visiting Tik-Tok.
In short, choose a VPN that is not headquartered in any of the 14 eyes countries. NORD VPN is good. Express VPN is good. Both of these are not headquartered in any of the 14 eyes countries and vow an oath to never give your information to anyone.
Express VPN is I think perhaps the BEST VPN on the market, though a bit pricey. Nord is good, slower than Express but much cheaper for the first two years. After the 2 years is up Express and Nord are the same price per year.
Express VPN is headquartered in the British Virgin Islands where There are no data retention laws in the BVI. The BVI is an offshore jurisdiction renowned for privacy protection. This is in contrast to many European countries and Australia, which have laws requiring internet service providers to retain metadata related to their users’ internet activity.

I would also recommend Malwarebytes along with your normal Internet Security such as Nord or BitDefender. Malwarebytes catches bad websites that Norton misses and vice versa keeping your computer free from zero-day attacks and preventing your computer from being taken prisoner for a ransom.

Do not be afraid of using or downloading a VPN. They are simple…simple…simple. You click to download and it does everything. A box pops up and you pick a server in the USA or usually any one of 200 countries and click on it. With that click, your VPN is working because the software does the rest with you having to do nothing.
