Other criminals convicted of felonies similar to D Trump’s have received prison time. Trump’s case is complicated by his decision to run for president, so his sentence wouldn’t start until after the election or, if elected (heaven forbid), after his time in office.
One of his confederates in these crimes, Michael Cohen, was sentenced to 3 years, but was cooperative and actually pleaded guilty. Trump was convicted of 34 felonies with up to 4 years per felony count or 136 years, but legal experts expect any prison sentences will run concurrently.
Trump has suggested his civilian troops will not respond peaceably if he receives jail time.
