Former President Donald Trump said he had “no choice” but to support electric vehicles after Tesla CEO Elon Musk “endorsed” him.
Trump then went on to criticize the EV industry at length.
Musk has long been a champion of the pivot to electric vehicles. His company Tesla has largely led the way in developing the industry, which for a time made Musk a darling of the climate-conscious left.
But Musk has more recently embraced conservative politics, especially the issue of free speech. Musk bought Twitter in 2022, rebranded it to X, and has dismantled many of the checks and balances meant to limit hateful speech and misinformation on the platform.
Wait, you mean free speech is a conservative issue? Huh, I guess Democrats are against it.
At a rally in Georgia on Saturday, Trump told the crowd he supported electric cars but thought people should still have access to gas vehicles.
“I’m for electric cars. I have to be because, you know, Elon endorsed me very strongly,” Trump told the crowd. “So, I have no choice.”
He then clarified that he only supports them as a “small slice” of the larger auto industry.
“You want to have gas-propelled cars. You want to have hybrids. You want to have every kind of car,” he said.
Exactly. It’s about choice. Not government forcing the peasants to buy EVs, all while the Elites continue to drive large, fossil fueled limos/EVs

CHECKING AND BALANCING something said is NOT FREE SPEECH. It does not matter if you lie or tell the truth. Free speech is FREE SPEECH. Before social media, if Fred told Jethro a lie, it was up to Jethro to figure out Fred was lying. Now, the crybabies want someone to figure it out for them.
This is a vast campaign forced on the world by big Pharma. They realize that their world is in tatters right now as people are starting to realize that they make us sick so they can feed us pills.
One only has to look at the food industry to see what kind of shit they put in our food. I have a friend who lives in the Netherlands, and she says that the stuff Americans eat is mostly FORBIDDEN in the EU. Because of the harmful chemicals put in almost everything we eat daily.
Musk has always said drill baby drill and buy Teslas. They can both coexist side by side. I agree with him. If you leave my oil alone for now, I will leave your EV’s alone and let the market decide.
Subsidize EVs and don’t subsidize Oil. I don’t care; the Gas guzzler will still do fine for a couple more decades until we can make the switch harmlessly and painlessly. That’s all I care about. Wise choices by the world as a whole seem to be wise decisions by the world, not something a bunch of billionaires force on the world.
Isn’t it funny how the dems went from hating big pharma, big business and billionaires to loving and embracing them in a matter of about 7-8 years. All it took was Donald Trump to arrive on the scene and blow up their fragile world.
