    The top echelon of the DOJ — Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Chris Wray, Deputy DOJ Director Lisa Monaco, and others — were arrayed around a conference table at an Election Threats Task Force meeting last week to unveil their information operation whose purpose is to interfere in the upcoming election. The result was to malign powerful right-of-center, Trump-supporting commentators by calling their words the product of malign influence.

    This is strange. For people who claim to defend democracy, it is striking that so many liberals and Democrats are freaking out that Donald Trump is warning people intending to commit election fraud that they are liable to go to jail.

    If re-elected President Trump will enact an 10% general tariff on imported goods and a 60% tariff on some Chinese imports.

    Total U.S. goods imports were $3.1 trillion last year, which implies a 10% global tariff could raise about $310 billion, a fraction of the nation’s $1.7 trillion budget deficit last year.

    Candidate Trump believes that tariffs are paid to the US by the exporting country, e.g., China. But no. The US consumer pays more for the imported item with the tariff going to the US government. So, Trump’s tariffs would raise prices and have the consumer class pay down the national debt!! He wants to raise your taxes and you’re cheering him for it!

    The Peterson Institute for International Economics calculated that Trump-proposed tariffs of 10% on all nations and 60% on China would raise about $225 billion per year in federal revenue, before accounting for negative effects on economic growth.

    Candidate Trump has threatened nations not using the USD as the reserve currency: “You leave the dollar and you’re not doing business with the United States because we are going to put a 100% tariff on your goods!”, said on 7 Sep ’24.

    Will the American Vice President (or the moderators) bring this up in the debate?

    Will Ms Harris or the moderators correct his lies and misinformation? Would it matter?

    The “debate” is tonight. When Harris demonstrates publicly that she is an empty-headed Marxist, with no real accomplishments like we all already know, will the shadow government replace her on the ballot too? Will Walz inherit the mantle of candidate or does the Democratic party just have a do-over like they did with Biden when it became obvious that Republicans were right about him all along? We already know that teh Democrats don’t care about election laws and are shameless in their ability to change laws illegally at the last minute to help their chances.
