Iran’s Guards ban communications devices after strike on Hezbollah, security officials say
Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has ordered all members to stop using any type of communication devices after thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by its Hezbollah allies in Lebanon blew up in deadly attacks last week, two senior Iranian security officials told Reuters.
One of the security officials said a large-scale operation is underway by the IRGC to inspect all devices, not just communication equipment. He said most of these devices were either homemade or imported from China and Russia.
Iran was concerned about infiltration by Israeli agents, including Iranians on Israel’s payroll and a thorough investigation of personnel has already begun, targeting mid and high-ranking members of the IRGC, added the official, who declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter. The security official declined to give details on how the IRGC force, comprising 190,000 personnel, are communicating. “For now, we are using end-to-end encryption in messaging systems,” he said.
According to the same official, there is widespread concern among Iran’s ruling establishment. IRGC officials have reached out to Hezbollah for technical assessments, and several examples of exploded devices have been sent to Tehran for examination by Iranian experts.
Man, that’s a real shame. How will the IRGC troops get their TikTok dance videos? Really, this may end up being something that goes on for a long time, and, if Israel is smart (and they are) they’ll get some pagers, phones, and walkie talkies mixed in that they can blow up in a few months, especially for a big wig. Throw IRGC and other Iranian communications into disarray.

Why would local national employees of the UN get Diplomatic immunity? Most embassy employees do not get diplomatic immunity unless they are diplomats or specifically recognized as such by the host nation. This is obviously the UN trying to cover for their own pro-Hamas faction that they know operate in Gaza. This isn’t even a secret. It would have been news if UNRWA were not involved in attacks on Israel. This makes the UN itself complicit if not openly allies.
It is greatly amusing to me that Israel has managed to bump Iranian, Hamas, and Hezbollah communications back to couriers, hand delivering messages. Not just for secret and sensitive information, but for everything so that they don’t get blown up.

New systems that are not clearly understood just create more chaos that enemies can exploit. Since the Israelis already had ICON radios ready to explode after pagers exploded, I am sure they already have a plan to monkey with the new courier networks and intentionally sewed distrust in the signal layers just for that purpose. If you had the capability to set off pagers and then radios, would you do it just to cause a handful of casualties? or would you save it for a time and place where it does the most effect for your campaign plan? Unlike American CIA, where the only campaign plan they have is interfering with the next US election to support Democrats, The Israeli intelligence services aren’t stupid and they are indeed operating on a plan, not just showing off.
