Weird: Americans Moving To Regions (Supposedly) Doomed From Hotcoldwetdry

Well, why shouldn’t they? You have people like Obama and Al Gore buying homes at the shore. Biden has his Delaware beach house. So many of the Elites pushing climate doom have their own beach homes. That said, this cBS News article gets incredibly stupid

Americans are flocking to U.S. regions most threatened by climate change

Americans often pull up roots in search of better jobs and cheaper housing. But in recent years, those moves have drawn more people into regions with higher risk of natural disasters, which have become more destructive because of climate change.

Hurricane Milton, a powerful Category 4 storm on Tuesday afternoon, is on a path to hit the Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida, area late Wednesday or very early Thursday morning. Yet the metropolitan region has grown by 39% since 2000, boosting its population by an additional 1 million residents during that time.

Last month’s Hurricane Helene devastated parts of western North Carolina, including the city of Asheville, the population of which has increased by 13% since 2000, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The region attracted new residents during the past few decades by appealing to retirees, remote workers and other professionals pursuing Asheville’s highly rated quality of life.

The population growth of Tampa and Asheville are part of a trend noted by economists, demographers and scientists: Regions facing heightened risks from climate change drawing in more residents. The juxtaposition of growing populations and intensifying natural disasters, in turn, creates the risk for even greater losses to human life and property.

Good grief. Tampa has always been in an area in danger from tropical systems, much less big thunderstorms. Asheville? It’s in the mountains. And has had devastating floods previously. Weather happens.

The populations of high-risk counties have grown at a rate that’s 3 percentage points faster than low-risk counties over the last three decades, according to research from economists Agustin Indaco, Francesc Ortega and Xinle Pang.

“Our results show that, in general, the U.S. population is not retreating from high-risk areas,” they noted in a 2023 paper published in Econofact. “In fact, there’s increasing agglomeration in areas with high climate risk.”

Added the economists, “These results imply that, even in the optimistic (and unlikely) event that climate risk were to remain constant, natural hazards with record-breaking damages will continue to take place over the foreseeable future.”

In other words, when it comes to living someplace nice no one cares about the climate scam, even Warmists.

    Our esteemed host began:

Well, why shouldn’t they? You have people like Obama and Al Gore buying homes at the shore. Biden has his Delaware beach house.

To me, the more interesting part of this article was that line. Joe Biden already lived in Delaware, though his home was more inland, while Barack Hussein Obama came from Chicago, but retired to the coast in Martha’s Vinyard, and Al Gore is from Nashville, but he retired to an oceanfront home in California. Bill Clinton is from Arkansas, but he retired to Chappaqua, New York.

The recent Republican presidents? Both Presidents Bush came from Texas, and retired back to Texas. President Reagan came from California, and retired back to the same ranch where he lived previously. President Trump lived in New York and Florida, and retired back to Florida.

It seems as though the Republicans were more connected to their homes, while the Dems couldn’t wait to get the heck out of there!

Maybe because generally lower taxes and milder weather are tangible, while “climate doom” is always “x” number of years” away.

  3. H says:

Obamas house is 15 to 20 feet above sea level. If the sea level were to rise 1 foot per decade his house would be safe furring both his anf his children’s lifetimes
Al Votes house is 100s of feet above the Pacific. Your arguments are lacking validity much like your Messiah, The Donald

  4. H says:

President Trump can never again live in NYC
His hometown will not allow it. People scream obscenities at him when his motorcade drives by

    • Professor Hale says:

Yes. We already know that Democrats are violent, angry people. Not just the Democrats in NYC, two others hate Trump so much that they tried to kill him recently. You may have heard about it. It was briefly in the news. Maybe if Democrats weren’t so violent and angry, Trump could live his remaining years in peace and comfort.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Do you think thousands of violent Dems will storm the Capitol building if they lose the White House?

Or is that just a MAGA thing?

BTW, Thomas Matthew Crooks was registered as a Republicun.

        • CarolAnn says:

Show us his voter registration. Not that it matters I am currently registered Libertarian. My husband’s a registered democrat, my parents too. Yet none of us has voted anything but Republican since the Great Communist Takeover of the democrat party in 2008.

        • L'Roy White says:

Do you think thousands of violent Dems will storm the Capitol building if they lose the White House?

Or is that just a MAGA thing?

Is that the democrats way of calming down the rhetoric? But just so you know I don’t think they have the balls to “storm” the capitol. Dems are more into burning houses and businesses that are unguarded and murdering unarmed citizens. When they’re not murdering babies and cutting the dicks off children that is.

Spreading lies about repubs is no way to dampen the violence so we assume you want violence.

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

Is that how democommies “save democracy” by attacking free citizens? What a wonderful party to belong to. You commies disgust me.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Every state is at risk from natural disasters.

The Gulf Coast and Southern East Coast are naturally attractive. The areas are also at much higher risk of natural disasters than most other areas in the US.

The lovely hills of MO, AR, KY, TN, NC, GA, WV, PA, Helene notwithstanding, are at low risk of hurricanes!

CA, AK and MO are at risk of earthquakes.

The west is at risk for heatwaves and wildfires. The midwest and south are at risk of tornadoes.

Hurricanes are by far the most expensive natural disasters.

The insurance companies let you know where the highest risks are.

      • drowningpuppies says:

On the same day Garland addressed the conference, the FBI arrested Justina Guardino, a 34-year-old member of a North Carolina chapter of Moms for Liberty, a nationwide group of moms defending their children from “woke” ideology and government overreach; Trump spoke to the group in Washington last month.

According to DOJ charging documents, Guardino nonviolently entered the Capitol on Jan. 6 and stayed inside for approximately 10 minutes.

Despite being interviewed by law enforcement in the summer of 2022, the FBI waited more than two years to make and announce her arrest, raising questions as to whether the DOJ is delaying arrests to coincide with the election.

  5. H says:

Al Gores “oceanfront” house is about 600 feet above the Pacific
Obamas oceanfront house is 15 to 20 feet above sea level. Even if the Atlantic were to ride 1 feet per decade that house will be safe for the next 20? Years of obamas life before any remediation might be needed As well as his childrens lifetimes

Trump can never live in the town he grew up in
He was disliked even before nationally known
He was disliked here first for forcing out elderly tenants if rent controlled apartments by refusing to do repairs so he could build new high rise apartments on valuable real estate. My recollection was that this happened late 70s

The Cintons own and live in 2 homes
The 2st was bought immediately after his 2nd term, it is in NY and was specifically bought to establish residency for Hillary’s Senate run. It cost 1.5 million they were at that time so poor they had to borrow the down payment. They bought a 2nd house in DC for 4.5 million. They now are worth perhaps 100? Million but have not chosen to upgrade. They appear quite comfortable living at that level, no yachts or jets. I think that Obama likes the Vineyard because people respect his privacy there especially off season

  6. Elwood P Dowd says:

Mr White, I bet dollars to doughnuts that the majority of Jan 6 “vandals” were Trump supporters.

And why are conservatives obsessed with murdering babies and emasculating little boys, two things that don’t happen?

  7. James Lewis says:

    Chicken Little Hamas Man

Mr White, I bet dollars to doughnuts that the majority of Jan 6 “vandals” were Trump supporters.

So you are saying that 49% were DOJ agitators.

    I’ll take that number.

But isn’t the real question why, after almost 4 years, all the people haven’t been arrested, charged and tried?

    Justice delayed is not justice.
