There was a time when Rolling Stone would have laughed at the people buying these books, calling them nuts, and especially noting that 1984 more aptly describes the Biden-Harris regime. Rolling Stone, like so many in rock music, has become a stooge for Big Government
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘1984’ Return to Amazon’s Bestsellers Charts Following Trump Win
Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale has returned to the top of Amazon’s bestsellers charts, less than 24 hours following the reelection of Donald Trump, a convicted felon and twice impeached former president, to a second term.
The day after Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 general election, Atwood’s dystopian bestselling book saw a staggering 1,826% increase in sales on Amazon’s Movers & Shakers chart. The book previously sat in the 443 spot on the list and has jumped to the eighth spot on the chart.
Remember how Trump forced all women to be like the handmaids during his first term? It was crazy!
In a Rolling Stone interview back in 2021, Atwood discussed watching Trump’s rise “With trepidation! We’ve seen this before. It’s right out of the playbook. The big propaganda lies, the replacement of people in pivotal positions in the judiciary — because every totalitarian regime controls the judiciary. The attempt to subvert the Constitution, the attempted coup. These are motifs that have occurred many times throughout history. The attempt to seize control of communications media. They couldn’t actually do that, but they could try to erase belief in the media as a trustworthy source of information, and replace that with other sources that were telling you there are blood-drinking Democrats in the cellar of a pizza parlor that didn’t have a cellar.”
Huh. She need Xanex. Democrats actually have legislation ready to pack the Supreme Court.
Orwell’s 1949 dystopian novel has also received a rush of sales following the election, up 63% at the time of this writing.
For all the caterwauling about Trump being Hitler 2.0, he wasn’t out there getting news outlets to be his mouthpiece and telling social media companies to do his bidding or else. He wasn’t constantly yammering about “misinformation” and “disinformation”: that was Biden, Harris, people working as agency heads for Biden, federal government agencies under Biden, and them actually working to stop speech that was Wrongthink.
It sure wasn’t Trump out there creating a Ministry Of Truth, ie, Disinformation Governance Board. Trump wasn’t out there arresting people for wandering around the Capitol Building and doing no harm, holding them in solitary, and treating them like terrorists. Trump wasn’t sending prosecutors out to, say, go after Hillary Clinton and her comrades. Or Obama.
Trump sure isn’t the one who pushes for Big Government and Statism.
But, you really can’t expect Democrats to be rational about Trump’s win, can you?

What’s your guess on how many will leave? You’ll have to click the tweet to see the full list, it is longer, and reminds me of 2004 for Bush and 2016 for Trump. Yet, none left. Weird, that.
I just checked the chart. #1 was Melania Trump’s book about herself. Handmaid’s tale #3. 1984 not on the list at all. #7, Hillbilly Elegy. It’s almost as if Rolling Stone is just making stuff up to continue their “Orange man bad” agenda. It never stops. Who will they hate in 4 years when Trump departs public life? I’m sure they will find someone.
