I will put it plainly: if you support abortion, you are immoral.
Here in rural Estill County, we are trying to get a “baby box,” a place where a mother who cannot handle caring for her infant, can drop off her baby, no questions asked, and completely anonymously. While it’s already legal for such a mother to drop off her child at the hospital, or a manned police or manned fire station, that requires the mother to be physically seen, and that alone could keep some desperate mothers from doing so, and throwing the baby away in a dumpster. The Irvine city council — all Republicans — passed the first reading unanimously on the 9th, and there’ll be a second reading in a week or so.
The box is supposed to be at the Irvine fire station, which is off a short side street, so a mother could do this without being seen by anyone. Depositing a baby in the box would send an alert to the firemen’s quarters or the Estill County EMS service, so that the infant could be retrieved quickly. The box would be heated in the winter, and cooled in the summer.
We don’t have all of the information yet, but our parish church will be participating in this.
