Bourbon Street terror victims sue New Orleans as Louisiana AG investigates security lapses
Dozens of victims of the New Year’s terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans are filing lawsuits against the city and its police department.
Terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar of Texas killed 14 civilians and injured dozens of others when he rammed a Ford-150 through crowds of people celebrating New Year’s on the famous New Orleans street around 3 a.m. Jan. 1. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police.
One lawsuit filed Thursday on behalf of seven victims by Morris Bart, LLC takes aim at the City of New Orleans, Hard Rock Construction and engineering firm Mott MacDonald, LLC, alleging they were negligent in providing security measures that could have prevented the tragedy.
“We have done an extensive investigation and believe that the three defendants we have named in the lawsuit could have — and should have — taken steps to prevent this tragedy,” Morris Bart said in a statement. “Our hope is that, through this lawsuit, we can help prevent future tragedies.”
The lawsuit says the defendants “had years of opportunities to fix this known problem,” and “[c]ity contractors failed to live up to contractual obligations and perform work in the order and manner specified.”
And another lawsuit will be filed soon against New Orleans and the police department. The city failed to make sure that vehicles could not drive down the roads where people were celebrating, and the city knew the Bourbon St area was a high ranking target, having been warned by the FBI and via various studies
On New Year’s Eve, bollards on Bourbon Street were in the process of being replaced, a procedure that began Nov. 19, according to the city’s website.
While the replacement process was ongoing, officials installed a temporary barrier where Bourbon Street meets Canal Street, presumably to prevent suspicious vehicles from driving down the busy tourist area. However, according to local business owners and employees who previously spoke with Fox News Digital, that temporary barrier was set down instead of up, allowing vehicles to pass on the holiday.
They could have blocked the area with police vehicles or garbage trucks or something. Instead, they made it easy for a vehicle to drive down the road and the ISIS jihadi kill people. On New Year’s Eve. Another time when a city becomes a massive target.
The suit is ridiculous on its face. Bourbon street is a known hub of dangerous crime… THAT’S WHY I DON’T GO THERE. No police force, or anyone else, has an affirmative obligation to keep another person from harm. Our litigious society has trained people to wrongly think that if any harm befalls them, then someone must be at fault (someone other than a penniless criminal). If public streets were treated with the same rules of liability as private property, every city and county in the USA would be bankrupt and taxes would be collected only for the purpose of settling lawsuits. Sadly, getting struck by a car is an all too common risk in the USA. Even more so due to the number of untrained drivers from foreign lands now operating vehicles here.

Irrelevant, especially because more facts are coming to ight in the case of St. George Floyd. As said before, the original ME’s report showed OD as the cause of death, but changed due to “persuasion”. Now, a dozen former officers have accused the assistant MPD chief of perjury because she stated under oath during the trial that the restraint technique used on Floyd wasn’t MPD policy. Those officers stated it was in fact normal policy, and now a video has surfaced of that same officer using that same restraint technique in a 2014 arrest. Floyd died from an overdose, had nothing to do with the cops, they were only following protocol. Yes, a jury convicted them which shows how broken the judicial system has become. Same for Trump, you can’t even understand his charge. You are really full of hate and it is clearly getting to you.
