Earth Day 2009

That says it all. Do something for the environment today. Pick up some trash. Plant something. Recycle that used cup from the coffee house or that bottle. Donate to a favorite Earth friendly charity (I’m going to make my yearly donation to Save The Manatees in a bit, as well as a clean ocean foundation.)

And, before anyone is surprised, I am serious, and I do love a clean environement. I’m just not in to wrapping anthropogenic global warming concerns with true environmental causes.

Teach the sun is now at its dimmest that it has been in the last 100 years, but for some strange reason (?) our temps keep going up Any explanation ?http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8008473.stm

Nice post Will. Earth Day should be everyday, it is good that there is at least one day to spread awareness. Here are some suggestions on what you can do to help the Earth: http://www.toptentopten.com/topten/things+to+do+on+earth+day, you can add your own suggestions.

  3. Aw, come on, man, can’t you just celebrate Earth Day with me? I was dead serious.

    Besides, http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10783

And, yeah, I read that story. Interesting that they only interviewed one point of view.

Teach link that you posted is pretty silly. “Prof” Easterbrook is a geologist not a climatologist. Yes he is entitled to his odd ball opinion but it is about as valid as the theory that the earth is less than 10,000 years old. Many many people do believe that the Grand Canyon was made by the Great Flood and that Noah got all of the animals into his ark (well except for the unicorns). But most sciebtists do not accept that as fact. Teach here is another article which says that the rise in global temps has not been caused by an increase in the Sun’s power.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7327393.stm

  5. Silke says:

    Happy belated Earth Day, Teach!

  6. I’ve seen ’em all, John. I read both sides, not just one, even before I am presented with the info. Just enjoy Earth Day.

    And back at ya, Silke!

Did you see Glenn Beck jumping the shark for Earth Day? http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/04/22/earth-day-glenn-beck-celebrates-by-cutting-down-trees/

Just because I defend him doesn’t mean I really like him that much. If I am home between 5-6, I usually switch to local news or Charmed repeats :D
