EPA Head Drives A Dagger Into Climate Scam And Extreme-Enviro Regulations

But, before that, let’s see the latest uber-scaremongering from the cult

Climate change is wreaking havoc on Earth. Soon it will mess up its orbit

Sounds scary, right? And the UK Independent is depending on the old maxim that you need 30 seconds or 3 paragraphs to get your point across. The whole article is actually about the “study” that low earth orbit is shrinking, which I mentioned the other day. The headline makes it seem as if the orbit around the Sun will be messed up. Scumbags in the news media

Trump’s EPA Chief Says He Just Drove ‘Dagger’ Through Climate Change Rules

Calling it the “most consequential day of deregulation in American history,” Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced a sweeping rollback of landmark environmental regulations on Wednesday, targeting rules on coal-fired power plant pollution, climate change policies, and electric vehicles. (snip)

Zeldin wrote about his deregulation efforts in an essay for The Wall Street Journal published Wednesday afternoon.

“We are driving a dagger through the heart of climate-change religion and ushering in America’s Golden Age,” Zeldin wrote.

Too bad he didn’t call it a doomsday cult, but, that he called it a religion makes me smile

The Trump administration’s efforts will eliminate trillions in regulatory costs and “hidden taxes,” Zeldin said, lowering the cost of living for American families by reducing expenses on essentials like buying a car, heating a home, and running a business.

“Our actions will also reignite American manufacturing, spreading economic benefits to communities,” he added.

I suspect most of the non-climate scam environmental regulations are just regulations for regulations sake. Things that do not actually help the environment, but, keep the EPA employees busy and let them throw their weight around.

He pointed to regulations such as the Clean Power Plan, which established carbon emissions limits for coal power plants, the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, and Particulate Matter 2.5 levels as policies the EPA is “reconsidering” under his watch.

The EPA is also working to end Good Neighbor Plan emission requirements, implemented by the Biden administration to reduce ozone-forming emissions of nitrogen oxides.

“Energy dominance stands at the center of America’s resurgence. By reconsidering rules that throttled oil and gas production and unfairly targeted coal-fired power plants, we are ensuring that American energy remains clean, affordable, and reliable,” Zeldin wrote.

Those rules do virtually nothing except empower bureaucrats and raise costs for consumers. I mean, the Supreme Court already shot the Clean Power Plan down, though, the EPA kept trying to enforce it. Next up they need to wack the EV mandate/

Johnson Must Consider “Unconstitutional” Vote By Proxy For New Mothers Bill

It seems to make common sense, right? A member of Congress has a baby and they cannot come to the floor to vote for a period of time, so, why not allow proxies?

Johnson weighs options after ‘stubborn’ Luna forces vote on ‘unconstitutional’ parental proxy voting

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is weighing his options after a bipartisan group led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) garnered enough support to force a floor vote on legislation to allow proxy voting for new parents — an idea the Speaker called “unconstitutional.”

A discharge petition to force a floor vote on Rep. Brittany Pettersen’s (D-Colo.) bill to allow proxy voting for new parents hit the minimum 218 signatures needed Tuesday, setting the stage for the legislation to come to the floor.

Pettersen gave birth to a son in January and brought him to the Capitol for two high-profile votes in recent weeks. Luna had a son in 2023, months into her first term in the House.

Asked by The Hill on Wednesday about the successful discharge petition effort, Johnson — who is known to oppose proxy voting and previously filed a brief with the Supreme Court against the practice — said he is against the idea.

“I’m afraid the whole thing is unconstitutional,” Johnson said in the Capitol. “I’ve tried to discuss this with Anna, and she’s pretty stubborn about it, so we’ll see what happens. But I’m not in favor of it. I filed a brief to the United States Supreme Court explaining that proxy voting is clearly unconstitutional so, you know, I have a real concern about it.”

If he allows the vote to go through, and this is very much bipartisan for support (I’m surprised there wasn’t more support), he’s also concerned that this would cause proxy voting for other reasons. Got the flu. Busted an ankle. Hey, what about doing video calls? They could set a tablet up for individual, or, how about a big screen where those out for real reasons, not because Survivor or a hockey game is on, can Zoom in.

Unfortunately, The Hill fails to explain why Johnson says it is unconstitutional. Nor do any of the other articles. Google being Google, I’m having a tough time finding what Johnson may have stated previously on the subject, it’s page after page of the above issue or unrelated information. Except this, which I found on page 12

Federal judge says House’s use of proxy voting to pass spending bill in 2022 unconstitutional

A federal judge in Texas ruled Tuesday that the US House of Representatives violated the Constitution in how it used proxy voting to pass a major spending bill in late 2022.

US District Judge James Wesley Hendrix ruled that the House violated the Constitution’s Quorum Clause when it did not have enough representatives physically present for a vote on the legislation and instead passed it by allowing lawmakers to vote by proxy, using a voting protocol that was put in place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Court concludes that, by including members who were indisputably absent in the quorum count, the Act at issue passed in violation of the Constitution’s Quorum Clause,” wrote Hendrix, an appointee of former President Donald Trump.

And that’s the heart of it. All those votes taken during COVID where people were not there were unconstutitonal Article I Section 5

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.

And what is a quorum?

the minimum number of officers or members of a body that is required to be present at a given meeting (as to transact business)

Most definitions are identical. It means people who are present. So, does this mean physically, or, could a Zoom call or similar count? That is the question. Proxy voting would be 100% out of the question. Some say quorum means physically present. Others say that that the rules could be modified to include video calls. There was a law passed in 1890 which said it was a quorum of those physically present, then a Supreme Court ruling in United States v. Ballin, which also determined that it was those physically present. But, the House and Senate can determine rules for being present, so, could it be stretched to mean a video call? I’d like to say yes, but, they would have to pass the rules to only apply to certain situations.

I wonder if Johnson has considered this with video calls? I wonder if he has considered running it up through a federal court, or asking the advice of the Supreme Court?

Bummer: Trump Admin Considering Closing Climate Doom Observatory In Hawaii

Hey, it’s their own fault for using a tiny increase in CO2 as a political weapon, for being part of a cult

Trump cuts target world-leading greenhouse gas observatory in Hawaii

The Trump administration is considering cancelling the lease of the support office for a renowned Hawaiian climate research station, sources said, raising fears for the future of key work tracking the impact of carbon emissions on global warming.

The office is one of more than 20 rented by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that are proposed to have their leases ended under money-saving efforts by the Department of Government Efficiency led by billionaire Elon Musk.

The online listing on the DOGE website mentions an NOAA office in Hilo, Hawaii and an estimate of how much would be saved by cancelling its lease – $150,692 a year.

Staff, researchers and other sources gave details on the building’s role as the main support office for the Mauna Loa Observatory about 50 km (30 miles) west of the town.

The observatory, established in 1956 on the northern flank of the Mauna Loa volcano, is recognised as the birthplace of global carbon dioxide monitoring and maintains the world’s longest record of measurements of atmospheric CO2.

How many buildings are being used for this? How many employees are employed to track what requires one?

“It would be terrible if this office was closed,” atmospheric scientist Marc Alessi, a fellow with the Union of Concerned Scientists advocacy group, said.

“Not only does it provide the measurement of CO2 that we so desperately need to track climate change, but it also informs climate model simulations.”

The simulations that keep failing?

Bummer: HUD Secretary Puts The Kibosh On DEI Plan In Asheville, NC

I actually heard this on the news breaks Wednesday, as well as the late morning brief on Spectrum News. It’s a good thing

Liberal North Carolina city’s DEI plan for hurricane relief shut down by HUD secretary

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner shut down a hurricane relief draft plan put forth by the city of Asheville, North Carolina, that included a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiative that would have prioritized some residents over others, his office said.

“Once again, let me be clear, DEI is dead at HUD,” Turner said of axing the plan. “We will not provide funding to any program or grantee that does not comply with President Trump’s executive orders.”

“HUD looks forward to helping thousands of North Carolinians rebuild after Hurricane Helene by directing funding assistance to impacted businesses, nonprofit organizations and neighborhoods,” Turner added. “However, Asheville’s draft action plan incorporated DEI criteria to prioritize some impacted residents over others, which was unacceptable. After HUD informed Asheville that its plan was unsatisfactory and it would not be approved, the city assured us that it was updating its draft action plan to be compliant.”

Asheville is about as liberal as you’re going to get in North Carolina. Nice place to visit. Great scenery, funky attitude. But, definitely full of moonbats

The city of Asheville detailed under a section in its draft plan titled “How Programs Will Support Vulnerable Populations” that minority- and women-owned businesses would be prioritized for assistance.

“Within the Small Business Support Program, the City will prioritize assistance for Minority and Women Owned Businesses (MWBE) within the scoring criteria outlined within the policies and procedures,” reads the draft plan, which was reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Asheville is also, as you’d expect in a wholly Democrat run city, crime ridden. Neighborhood Scout ranks it a 2, meaning it is safer than 2% of American cities. That’s bad. Lots of assault, thefts, burglaries, and car thefts. It’s also uber-white, with 78%, and only 10% black and 6% Hispanic. So, why a focus on “minorities”? How about helping everyone? Of course, if the uber-white liberals want to give their aid up to the minorities, have at it.

Democratic Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer said in comments provided to Fox News Digital that the city was “working closely with HUD as we continue to navigate the changing compliance requirements of the new administration.”

“We are grateful for the administration’s support in our recovery efforts,” Manheimer continued. “The City will ensure it meets current federal standards in order to facilitate approval of critically needed funding to help the city recover from the devastation of Tropical Storm Helene.”

In other words, they capitulate, and removed the above section as well as other DEI. Don’t think for a moment they won’t try and backdoor it.

Large Swatch Of Amazon Cut Down To Make Ready For COP30 In Brazil

Nothing says “we’re totally concerned with ‘climate change’ and it is totally not about Elites trying to be Authoritarians” like this

Amazon Forest Cleared for Road to Carry Globalist Elites to Climate Summit

A new four-lane highway requiring the decimation of tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built to carry globalist elites to the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém.

The BBC reports the aim is to ease vehicle traffic to the city, which will host more than 50,000 people – including world leaders – at the U.N. sponsored conference in November.

COP30 will also see the usual thousands of attendees flying in for the occasion.

Critics are quick to point out the sheer hypocrisy of this deforestation as it contradicts the claimed purpose of a climate summit. The BBC report notes:

Along the partially built road, lush rainforest towers on either side – a reminder of what was once there. Logs are piled high in the cleared land which stretches more than 13km (8 miles) through the rainforest into Belém.

Diggers and machines carve through the forest floor, paving over wetland to surface the road which will cut through a protected area.

So, COP29 in 2024 was held in the petro-state of Azerbaijan, for which the roughly 40k people attending had to fly or drive in using a fossil fueled vehicle. Taking the train was mostly out of the question, and, even try to take an EV would have been impossible. COP28 was also in the petro-state of Dubai. COP27 was held in Egypt, in the luxury resort of Sharm El-Sheikh. And people had to take lots of fossil fueled trips. Now we have Brazil, for which tens of thousands will take a fossil fueled trip, mostly planes.

Belem has inter-city rail, but, no connections to cities outside of the Belem. But, it does have an international airport. Will any of the climate nuts take sailing vessels to the ports? How many of the private jets will need to be deadheaded (flying without passengers) to other airports in Brazil?

Adler Silveira, the state government’s infrastructure secretary, listed this highway as one of 30 projects happening in the city to “prepare” and “modernise” it, so “we can have a legacy for the population and, more importantly, serve people for COP30 in the best possible way”.

Speaking to the BBC, he said it was a “sustainable highway” and an “important mobility intervention.”

Yes, cutting down thousands of acres of jungle is definitely sustainable. From that BBC article

Claudio Verequete lives about 200m from where the road will be. He used to make an income from harvesting açaí berries from trees that once occupied the space.

“Everything was destroyed,” he says, gesturing at the clearing.

“Our harvest has already been cut down. We no longer have that income to support our family.”

He says he has received no compensation from the state government and is currently relying on savings.

They are not concerned with the climate. Or the little people.

The New Republic: Why Islamist Mahmoud Khalil Was Really Arrested

The New Republic is very much a Progressive outlet, and they think they have a big scoop here, but, in reality, they actually make the point that he needed to be scooped up and eventually deported. But, first Ryan Mauro has a long thread (I’m taking the screenshots from Twitchy)

And the thread gets, much, much worse, which is also noted in the Jerusalem Post. Let’s jump in to the New Republic

White House Admits Why Mahmoud Khalil Was Really Arrested

Pro-Palestine activist and legal U.S. resident Mahmoud Khalil wasn’t arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for committing an actual crime, but because Secretary of State Marco Rubio had personally determined that he had to go.

Khalil, who is a green card holder, was arrested by ICE last week under the authority of the Immigration and Nationality Act, or INA, two officials at the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security told Zeteo News Tuesday.

There’s actually some debate. Some say he was here on a student visa and a green card, some say he was a permanent resident, but, as Eitan Fischberger tweeted

Mahmoud Khalil came to America around December 2022, and became a permanent resident in 2024.

Which means he’s spent his entire time as a permanent resident advocating with a group that calls for “Death to America”

And he has a document for this.

Section 237(a)(4)(C)(i) of INA says that any “alien” is “deportable” if the secretary of state “has a reasonable ground” to believe their presence could result in “potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences” for the United States.

OK, so, the New Republic’s Edith Olmsted has, unintentionally, made the case that Khalil needed to be scooped up and needs to be deported

Separately, a White House official told conservative rag The Free Press Monday that the government did not believe Khalil had committed an actual crime. “The allegation here is not that he was breaking the law,” the official said.

He doesn’t have to. Of course, threatening to kill Jews is rather against the law. Threatening to destroy Israel and showing support for a US designated terrorist group aren’t actually a good thing, either.

The White House official alleged that Khalil was “mobilizing support for Hamas and spreading antisemitism in a way that is contrary to the foreign policy of the US,” a claim that Khalil has denied and that the government has released no evidence to support.

The INA was originally used to oust those suspected of being Soviet spies. But it has never been used to punish speech, and it’s unclear what evidence Rubio would need to provide to justify superseding Khalil’s First Amendment rights.

Threatening to kill Jews and Americans would cover it. Threatening murder is not free speech, nor protesting peaceably, nor petitioning for redress of grievance. Threatening to commit October 7ths repeatedly on American soil is not, particularly as a visitor to our country. Oh, and

Hmm, someone who is not actually an American citizen, who came in 2022 and immediately started agitating, was doing this, and they shouldn’t be deported? Seriously, when combined with the actual details the NR piece makes the point he should be.

The Planet Cannot Survive Drill Baby Drill Or Something

Not just life on Earth, but, the Earth itself!

Trump’s Energy Policy Is ‘Drill, Baby, Drill.’ The Planet Can’t Survive This.

In less than two months since taking office, President Trump has reversed decades of progress against climate change, putting our economy, our lives and the planet in grave danger.

On Monday, Trump’s new energy secretary, Chris Wright, a former fracking executive, told a packed conference of oil and gas executives in Houston that global warming is simply a “side effect of building the modern world” and promised a “180-degree pivot” from previous administrations’ efforts to invest in clean, renewable energy.

As a member of Congress from a region hard hit by destructive weather fueled by climate change and an expert on low-carbon energy alternatives, we want American voters to understand how the Trump administration is endangering our safety, health and property by turning its back on established science.

The Congressman in question is Excitable Hank Johnson, the same wanker who thought Guam would tip over. Oh, and I be he doesn’t take the train, bus, or an EV between Georgia and D.C.

The future of American jobs, real estate and infrastructure – not to mention our lives – depends on tackling the climate crisis. That’s a reality that scientists agree on, according to the U.S. Global Change Research Program, which was created by Congress. With the recent devastation from wildfires in Los Angeles and record-breaking winter storms across the southern United States, the nation should be going full throttle to address climate change, not slamming on the brakes.

Those would be the wildfires which started by arson and incompetence, as well as the poor fire management of Los Angeles. And lots of scientists do not agree.

Ignoring these warnings, the president has gutted nearly every federal effort to slow climate change. He has withdrawn the U.S. from the 2015 Paris climate accords, halted lucrative green energy initiatives that were creating jobs at home and has vowed to “drill, baby, drill” by expanding oil drilling offshore and on protected federal lands, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

I already love what Trump has done when it comes to the climate cult, thanks for letting me know again.

Fortunately, lawsuits are moving forward in states from Hawaii and Montana to New York and Vermont to hold corporate actors accountable, seeking millions or billions of dollars to pay for damages caused by climate change. These cases include a Feb. 24 lawsuit filed by farmers against the U.S. Department of Agriculture for deleting vital climate data from their website.

It’s time for every corporate polluter to be held accountable in court. If federal officials are derelict in their duty to protect us, then governors, legislators, pressure groups and citizens must take up the slack. The planet won’t survive four more years of climate-denying policies.

Funny how it’s always about forcing Other People to comply with the cult beliefs, but, never about the cultists practicing what they preach.

New CPB App Helps “Migrants” Self Deport

Oh, the irony of using Biden’s app that helped more fake asylum seekers enter the US and get hearings (years from now) for the reverse

New version of CBP app enables migrants to ‘self-deport’

A phone app intended to facilitate communication between migrants and the U.S. government has been repurposed for the Trump era.

The latest version of the Customs and Border Protection app has a new name — and a new feature that allows people to announce their “intent to depart” from the U.S.

CBP One, as it was previously known, was used under President Joe Biden to enable migrants seeking asylum to set up appointments for screening.

President Donald Trump’s administration, which has kept limits on asylum imposed near the end of his predecessor’s term, initially shut down the app before relaunching it this week as CBP Home. Users can check border crossing times and request an inspection of cargo entering the country in addition to signaling their intention to leave the U.S. or “self-deport” amid increased efforts to remove people without legal status.

“The CBP Home app strengthens our mission to secure the border and provides illegal aliens with a straightforward way to leave now before facing much harsher consequences later,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday.
