USA Today Wants Arnold Schwarzenegger To Run For President, And Says It’s Allowable

Young voters really do not want a Trump-Biden rematch. They do not want either running. Yeah, I think that’s most of us. But, USA Today screedster Joe Matthews thinks he has the answer, and it’s probably the dumbest thing you’ll read so far this young year

Schwarzenegger for president? Arnold should run – and not just because he’d beat Trump.

Dear Arnold,

In Netflix’s new action series, “FUBAR,” you’re compelling as a retiring CIA agent pulled back into intelligence madness because he didn’t realize his daughter is also a secret agent.

You also may not realize that, in real life, the door just opened for you to be pulled back into the FUBAR (“F’ed Up Beyond All Recognition”) of our national politics. I’m writing to ask you to walk through that door, and run for president for the good of our country.

You’ve previously said that you would run for president, if not for two facts: that you were born an Austrian, and that Article II, Sec. 1 of the U.S. Constitution says “no Person except a natural born Citizen… shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

It’s pretty darned specific. Arnold is not natural born. He cannot be president. Period. 100% not allowed. Trump Derangement Syndrome is a hell of a thing, though

The article hasn’t changed, but American devotion to the Constitution and its provisions on presidential eligibility has.

Huh what?

For this, Donald Trump is responsible. Incredibly, he has inspired leading Democrats and Republicans to take the position that being constitutionally ineligible to serve as president is no longer a barrier to running for president.

A new consensus is emerging: Voters have the right to choose whomever they want as president, no matter what the Constitution says.

This is the product of Trump’s own ineligibility. The Constitution’s 14th Amendment bars any officer of the U.S. who took a constitutional oath and then “engaged in insurrection” – as Trump did – from holding another government office. Leading constitutional scholars, from right and left, have affirmed that Trump isn’t eligible.

Even if that was true (he has not been convicted of insurrection, and half the country doesn’t thing January 6th was an insurrection), that in no way allows Arnold to be president. The insanity continues a bit, to

In entering the race, you should emphasize that Republicans and Democrats, by keeping Trump on the ballot, have rubber-stamped the principle that voters should get to choose whomever they want. When opponents refer to that Article II requirement that candidates be natural born, you should make two arguments. First:  you’ve always felt American in your heart and soul – a “natural born” American, in fact. Second: If the Biden vs. Trump matchup is the best that native-born citizens can manage, then it’s high time to welcome foreign-born contenders.

Yeah, reality doesn’t work like that. This is the kind of muddle-headed thinking the Youts have this day, where reality is simply what’s in their mushybrains rather than real reality. This is delusional. I’ve never seen this so-called consensus. Probably some sort of newsroom yammering by the Youts with Ivy League journalism degrees.

Federal Court Kills Berkeley’s Ban On New Gas Stoves

This should make Kamala Harris happy, if she decides to build in Berkeley. She loves her gas stoves….just not for you peasants

Federal Court Deals Knockout Punch To Blue City’s Biden-Backed Effort To Ban Gas Stoves

A federal appellate court ruled Tuesday that it would not reconsider an earlier decision that prevents the city of Berkeley, California, from enforcing its de facto ban on installing gas-powered appliances in new buildings.

Berkeley, one of the most liberal cities in America, enacted the policy in 2019, marketing it as a means of countering climate change while others railed against it as a de facto gas stove ban. The California Restaurant Association sued the city over the ordinance, losing its challenge in federal court initially before a three-judge panel vindicated the trade group in April 2023, a decision the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals opted against revisiting on Tuesday.

“By completely prohibiting the installation of natural gas piping within newly constructed buildings, the City of Berkeley has waded into a domain preempted by Congress,” Patrick Bumatay, a circuit judge on the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and member of the panel, wrote in his opinion. “The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), 42 U.S.C. § 6297(c), expressly preempts State and local regulations concerning the energy use of many natural gas appliances, including those used in household and restaurant kitchens. Instead of directly banning those appliances in new buildings, Berkeley took a more circuitous route to the same result.”

Interestingly, while I like that the 9th killed the ban, I’m torn: nowhere in the Constitution does it seem to give the Congress the power to be the only ones who can make this policy. Shouldn’t this be the domain of the States and The People? Where did this federal government power come from? Just because they say so doesn’t mean it is Constitutional, just like so many other powers they’ve taken.

And, really, the climate loons in Berkeley voted for the ban. Most of the restaurant owners complaining surely voted for the hyper-left wing moonbats on the city council. Anyone wanting a gas stove, well, you probably voted for this. They should have to suffer the consequences.

And don’t forget that Brandon has one

Illegal Aliens Bummed That Pets Are Treated Better

Perhaps they should be mad at Democrats, who set the conditions that all illegals would be welcome…as long as they don’t come to Democratic Party run cities

‘Pets are treated better than us’: Migrants who spent life savings traveling from Africa to NYC complain they’ve been ‘sold a dream by Hollywood – but the American Dream isn’t like the movies’

Migrants who spent their life savings traveling from Africa to NYC have complained that they have been sold a dream by Hollywood – but the Big Apple is not what they expected.

Hundreds of homeless expats, mostly young and middle-aged African men, were waiting in line outside a church on East 7th Street in Manhattan’s East Village on Thursday, hoping to find a place to sleep.

Among them was Landry, 40, from Congo, who told DailyMail.com he spent his life savings of $9,000 traveling to the US, taking the difficult decision to leave his wife and 14-year-old son behind four months ago.

That’s on him and the others. He made that decision to spend all his money to come to the U.S. without applying correctly.

The military veteran had been hoping to land a job in construction but he’s been unable to find work in the city and ended up sleeping on the streets in sub-zero temperatures after shelters ran out of space.

Conditions in Congo were ‘terrible’ according to Landry, with frequent fights between ethnic groups and oppressive laws – but he said life in the Big Apple has been ‘even worse.’

‘It’s like prison here,’ he said, speaking in French. ‘It’s negligence. We have no access to food, toilets, or anything. Animals live better here – pets in the street are treated better than us.

That’s on you. Did you think you would show up and be given everything to live? Free apartment, food, money?

‘We were sold a dream in Hollywood films and TV, but the reality of life in New York City is not like the movies,’ he said, adding that he had been bussed over from California.

I know many people who came to the U.S. the right way. They applied, were accepted, and went through the citizenship process. They’re all doing well. Because the citizenship process requires that applicants be able to be self sufficient.

When asked how he felt thinking of his family back in Congo, Landry said: ‘I cry and think, why did I do this? But it’s too late. I spent my life savings coming here and now I can’t get a job. What can I do?’

Turn yourself in, say you do not want asylum (which you will most likely not be approved for anyway), and you’ll be flown back to Congo via the U.S. government

Friends Vivienna, 44, and Selena, 22, from Ecuador, were the only two women in the hundreds-strong queue on Thursday afternoon.

And therein lies a huge problem: the massive amount of young males streaming into the country. I hope all those Democrats in SCNY are enjoying their diversity as much as these illegals.

Your Fault: Sri Lanka Sees More Incidents With Crocodiles

You could have stopped this by ending your reliance on fossil fuels and making the first world energy poor like the 3rd world

As Sri Lanka floods swell with climate change, so does human-crocodile conflict

Flying birds, running squirrels, hopping hares and snakes are species that frequent the tea estates in Akuressa in southern Sri Lanka. But an unusual heavy rustling and crawling sound of an animal disturbed a woman plucking tea, who let out a loud scream as she realized it was a giant crocodile next to her. She ran toward others, and the villagers caught this 15-foot-long giant after a difficult and risky operation.

Tea plantations are not considered the habitat of saltwater crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus), but there was severe rain in the area and the nearby Nilwala River began to flood. The crocodile likely reached the edge of the flooded area and got trapped in the tea plot as the flooding receded, said Priyanath Sanjeewa, a Matara district wildlife ranger.

The tea estate incident happened during the 2017 floods, but similar incidents where crocodiles ended up in areas that humans inhabit remain a common occurrence when the Nilwala River floods. The river also accounts for the country’s worst human-crocodile conflict, Sanjeewa said. (snip)

During a severe flood event that occurred in October, crocodiles were spotted in several paddy fields and along slightly flooded roads, Sanjeewa told Mongabay. Crocodiles had also moved to small canals where the water was calmer than in the river.

There were posts on social media warning people about crocodiles and referring to an incident when a dog was snatched by a croc. Displaced when their homes were flooded, this was an additional worry to flood victims.

Sri Lanka, at the southeastern tip of India (I bet most Warmists have zero idea where it is), has a long history of flooding and other disasters. It now has a much larger, and growing, population of humans. In 1960 the population was 10 million. It’s now 22 million. It’s a densely populated island. The crocodile population has grown quite a bit since the 1970’s, when lots of environmental protections were put in place. Floods will happen, and the crocs will follow, since the humans move into their domains. No need to invoke witchcraft, er, ‘climate change.’ But, that’s all the climate cult knows how to do.

California County Says They Will Not Enforce PRC Anti-Gun Law

Sutter County is a small county of about 100K people which typically votes Republican. Trump won 57.16% to 40.73%. It’s also just barely to the north of the People’s Republik Of California capitol of Sacramento

New gun laws won’t be enforced by Sutter County Sheriff’s Office: “We have no interest in criminalizing constitutionally protected behavior”

Days after a federal appeals court ruled to temporarily uphold a new California law that bans carrying guns in public spaces, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office announced they will look at each circumstance on a case-by-case basis.

“We have no interest in criminalizing constitutionally protected behavior,” said Sutter County Sheriff Brandon Barnes and Sutter County District Attorney Jennifer R. Dupré in a joint social media post on Wednesday. “We took an oath to uphold our Constitution and will work to protect the rights of our citizens.”

The controversy stems from Senate Bill 2, which became law on Jan. 1. The new law bans licensed concealed gun holders (CCW) from carrying their firearms at bars, places of worship, parks, public events, stadiums, casinos, financial institutions, medical facilities, on public transportation, and other public places.

On Dec. 26, 2023, a federal judge blocked the new California gun control law from taking effect on Jan. 1, however, days later, a federal appeals court reversed that decision while the issue went through litigation.

They law basically stops law abiding citizens who’ve passed federal background checks and other measures from being able to carry concealed out of their homes. Do people need to carry in some of those places mentioned? It should mostly be up to the individual venue. Bars? Certainly not if you are drinking. Casinos? Probably not. It’s “other public places” that is the issue

(PBS) The California Pistol and Rifle Association’s president, Chuck Michel, said in a statement that under the law, gun permit holders “wouldn’t be able to drive across town without passing through a prohibited area and breaking the law.” Michel said criminals are deterred when law-abiding citizens can defend themselves.

Just about anywhere a legal gun owner goes would be illegal. Private businesses are allowed to put up signs stating that concealed carry is OK, otherwise, the permit holders may not go into any store. Will other sheriff’s in the Republican leaning counties follow Sutter?

Hotcoldwetdry Is Hurting Youts Mental Health Or Something

It couldn’t possibly be due to the kiddies being treated to a constant litany of Doom and gloom, could it? That the climate cult’s fearmongering is messing up the youts, right?

Climate change is hurting kids’ mental health, report finds

Surviving a hurricane or wildfire can be traumatic. And people who are displaced from their homes may suffer anxiety, PTSD, or depression.

Yes, the weather, which humans have always dealt with

Children are especially vulnerable because they may not have coping skills yet. And they depend on adults, who may be struggling themselves.

They depend on hysterical, doomsday cult member adults. Not a good combination

Christie Manning of Macalester College is co-author of a recent report on climate change and children’s mental health that was released by the American Psychological Association and nonprofit ecoAmerica.

She says even young people who have not directly experienced a disaster may feel anxiety about the climate crisis. They worry about the future and that adults are not taking more action.

So to support kids, the report suggests screening them for distress and improving access to mental health services for young people and families.

Probably the best thing would be to send them to mental health professionals who will deprogram the kiddies and explain that yes, bad weather events do stink, but, they are just weather, and you will be OK. And that the majority of wildfires are caused due to accidents and arson, not a slight increase in the global temperature since 1850. Get the kids away from the adult cult members.

SCNY Sues Bus Companies For Doing Their Job Of Transporting People

What does Sanctuary City New York mayor Adams think bus companies do? In this case, they were hired to transport people for money. That’s the business, right? What this lawsuit is about is to put the fear into all bus companies so they do not transport illegal aliens to a self determined sanctuary city

NYC sues Texas charter bus companies for $700 million cost of caring for migrant

New York City is seeking more than $700 million from Texas charter bus companies to cover the cost of housing and caring for migrants who have been transported to the city, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.

The lawsuit is intended to cover past shelter, food, and health care costs for migrants transported from Texas, as well as future costs of migrants already here and migrants who may be transported in the future, according to the mayor’s office. The city said more than 33,600 migrants have already been transported to NYC from Texas.

The Adams administration has been trying to navigate ways to stem the tide of buses bringing migrants to the city and the mayor said he hopes the lawsuit serves as a warning for future transports.

“New York City has and will always do our part to manage this humanitarian crisis, but we cannot bear the costs of reckless political ploys from the state of Texas alone,” Adams said in a statement. “Today, we are taking legal action against 17 companies that have taken part in Texas Governor Abbott’s scheme to transport tens of thousands of migrants to New York City in an attempt to overwhelm our social services system.”

Yeah, well, I’m not a lawyer, but, I sincerely doubt that this will go anywhere, since they were hired by the state of Texas to transport illegals, again, the entire point of the business is to transport people for hire. If it doesn’t get thrown out of court immediately, because, really, if Adams wants to sue anyone it should be Texas, then Adams would lose on appeal. And, since this is about interstate commerce, this cannot be adjudicated in local or state court, it must be a federal court.

What Adams wants to really do here is get the bus companies to hold off in taking charters from Texas as the case waits for court, as well as force the companies to pony up a lot for lawyers.

Hopefully, Texas will provide lawyers so the bus companies do not have to use their own money as the case proceeds, and who will also countersue for interfering with said Constitutional authority to travel.

Surprise: Giant Offshore Wind Project Killed Off

At least they didn’t get a massive “loan” from Los Federales which will never be paid back

Giant offshore wind project axed in blow to Biden’s green goals

Global energy developers Equinor and BP on Wednesday announced they are canceling the contract for a massive wind project slated for construction off the coast of New York.

The two companies said they had reached an agreement with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to terminate the offshore wind renewable energy certificate for their Empire Wind 2 project. Equinor and BP explained that commercial conditions, namely inflation, interest rates and supply chain disruptions, prevented its contract for the project from remaining viable.

“Commercial viability is fundamental for ambitious projects of this size and scale. The Empire Wind 2 decision provides the opportunity to reset and develop a stronger and more robust project going forward,” Molly Morris, president of Equinor Renewables Americas, said in a statement. “We will continue to closely engage our many community partners across the state.”

That’s nice corp-speak for “this thing was a turd and we didn’t want to lose our shirts.”

“BP is supportive of NYSERDA’s leadership and commitment to offshore wind, which we believe is a critical part of New York State’s and America’s clean energy future,” added Joshua Weinstein, BP’s president of offshore wind Americas. “Offshore wind can deliver reliable renewable power as well as economic benefits to the state and its communities.”

Critical, but, not at the thought of losing lots of money

The cancelation of Empire Wind 2 comes weeks after the Biden administration formally approved it and its counterpart, Empire Wind 1, in November. The Department of the Interior (DOI) and Department of Energy (DOE) have both endorsed the project, while the White House has referred to it as a success story of “Bidenomics.”

Yup, that’s Bidenomics. Projects that are expensive and not “commercially viable.”
