Happy Sunday! Another fine day in the Once and Future Nation of America. The Sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the Giants might have a shot against the even more dysfunctional Raiders. This pinup is by Lorenzo Sperlonga, with a wee bit of help.
What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page (nope, that’s gone, the newest Apache killed access, and the program hasn’t been upgraded since 2014). While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your Pinups for Vets calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me. I’ve also mostly alphabetized them, makes it easier scrolling the feedreader
Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. And do you have a favorite blog you can recommend be added to the feedreader?

I can’t understand why Jews would want to avoid such revered news outlets like the NY Times, Washington Post, ABC, NBC, and CBS News. Nor MSNBC, LA Times, CNN, BBC, etc
The NY Times editorial board is pimping a “humanitarian pause“, which only helps Hamas. Here’s the Washington Post pimping the viewpoint from an Islamist: ‘I’m still alive. Gaza is no longer Gaza.’ How many of the news outlets immediately took the side of Hamas with the hospital bombing, not waiting for actual facts, because they wanted to Blame Israel and those Jews? How many have listened to hardcore Islamists and terrorist apologists? Imagine what would happen if a Republican was coming down on the side of Hamas: they’d be roasted. But, these same outlets refuse to condemn, and mostly ignore, the anti-Semetism coming from Democrats, especially ones like Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and the rest of The Squad
Jewish Viewers Find a Refuge in Fox News
Ross Abramson, a software engineer and recent New York University graduate, had a fairly conventional news diet until recently. He regularly checked his phone for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. And as a Jew with an interest in Israel, he would browse a handful of outlets like The Times of Israel.
Then the brutal Hamas-led attack on Israel happened on Oct. 7, and Mr. Abramson found himself turning to an outlet he said he didn’t rely on much before: Fox News.
“Did I watch it religiously before? No,” he said, adding that he found Fox’s reporting and commentary on Israel’s military campaign in Gaza “less antagonistic for sure” than that of other news organizations. “You don’t feel as attacked,” Mr. Abramson said.
Fox News, long a preferred source of news for the right, has lately become an information refuge for some American Jews who believe that the mainstream media has been too hostile to Israel.
Well, gee wiz, I can’t imagine why Jews would feel that the leftist Credentialed Media would be hostile towards Israel and Jews.
It’s somewhat of an improbable alliance. Jews overwhelmingly identify as Democrats. And as the Republican Party came to embrace a more populist brand of politics that vilifies “globalist” corporate interests and wealthy liberal businessmen like George Soros — something many see as coded antisemitism — Fox News hosts and guests promoted those views.
Well, they weren’t paying attention the ever-growing Jew hatred from their fellow Democrats nor how Democrats were sympathizing with Islamic extremists.
But more than any of the other major cable news channels — and perhaps more than any other major American media outlet — Fox News has wrapped itself in the Israeli flag in the weeks since the Hamas attack. Its coverage tends to emphasize the radical and antisemitic elements of the pro-Palestinian opposition, particularly on college campuses, while playing down the civilian casualties from Israeli strikes.
Fox has always been pro-Israel and anti-jihadist. The NY Times just doesn’t seem to understand that they themselves have pushed Jews away.
Since September, Fox News’s audience has grown by a larger percentage than CNN and MSNBC in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington and Miami. And in the New York market — the nation’s largest — Fox has lately beaten its left-leaning rival, MSNBC, by a few percentage points. In September, Fox was drawing 16 percent fewer viewers than MSNBC in New York.
Why would they want to watch a network that bashes Israel and takes the side of the Palestinians who want to annihilate Israel and the Jews? Fox shows what the actual meaning and intent of the pro-Palestinian demonstrators is. Are you getting the intent of the phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” from all those Credentialed Media sources? Are they showing you the Jew hatred? No? It won’t happen, but, perhaps outlets like the NY Times should look at how their coverage is biased against Israel and Jews, and pro-Islamist.
More: So, there was a big demonstration in D.C., and many other US cities
The @NYTimes wondered why Jews are going to Fox News. Well, here's Fox noting the calls for violence against Jews and destruction of Israel at the protest in D.C. https://t.co/PPsHfyOzT4

And the pro-Hamas forces vandalized the White House gate and wrote anti-Jew, anti-Israel, and took our call of Fuck Joe Biden. I’m sure the NY Times covered this, along with other outlets, right?
CBS News and NBC News? If they have something, it’s buried. Good on Insider for covering the vile calls for killing Jews and ending Israel (actually, no. When I flipped back to the article it was replaced). So, yeah, NY Times, it’s shocking that Jews are moving away from the mostly left leaning, and apparently pro-Hamas and anti-Jew, Credentialed Media and to those who are actually showing what’s going on.

There’s obviously been a push to redefine global boiling as a global health issue. Why? Because so many nations have socialized medicine, meaning government controls people’s healthcare, and people will be forced to comply with what government dictates. And now the UN has fully jumped in
We must fight one of the world’s biggest health threats: climate change
In the face of one of the greatest health threats for humanity, the urgent need to implement measures addressing climate change remains a compelling, yet unrealized goal.
Climate change is happening now and its impacts are being felt around the globe. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that a staggering one in four deaths can be attributed to preventable environmental causes and climate change is exacerbating these risks.
Estimates = they can’t prove it. Exacerbating = they’re making it up.
Climate change poses a multitude of complex health challenges, from extreme weather events to the spread of infectious diseases and the exacerbation of chronic conditions. It cannot be prevented with a vaccine, or treated with an antibiotic. But we know that we can mitigate its impacts.
Is the answer Warmists practicing what they preach? UN wankers going Net Zero in their own lives?
The connection between health and climate change is obvious. Now the international community must accelerate the energy transition away from fossil fuels and simultaneously build resilience.
What the global community must understand is that investing in climate resilience at a local level pays dividends. The World Bank estimates that every dollar spent on building climate resilience will bring an average return of US$4, as better-quality health and wider infrastructure benefit communities and have lasting impacts over multiple sectors.
And how does that happen? Government tyranny. Perhaps the UN should forgo their big climate scam meeting, where tens of thousands take fossil fueled trips, including hundreds if not thousands taking private jets that need to be deadheaded (fly without passengers) to other airports to park.
Oh, and redistributing lots and lots of money from the peasants, because these rich Warmists will never use their own money.

Funny how the Brighton Park neighborhood overwhelmingly votes Democrat, which means support for unfettered illegal immigration, doesn’t want them in their own neighborhood
Chicago residents sue city to stop plans for migrant tent camp
Neighbors in Brighton Park took a drastic measure to stop a migrant tent base camp from being erected in their backyard.
They filed a lawsuit against Mayor Brandon Johnson and the City of Chicago to stop the camp from going up.
CBS 2’s Sabrina Franza spoke with the attorney representing the neighbors and had the latest on what the move meant for construction after the city already signed a lease.
It was the second lawsuit filed by a group of Chicago residents against the mayor’s office to stop migrants from moving into their neighborhoods.
“We don’t want no camps in here,” said Ermelina Quiles, one of the plaintiffs. “I hope we win.”
The attorney representing residents in Brighton Park told CBS 2 he hopes the lawsuit has teeth, especially because the city has already signed a lease for a large lot at 38th and California.
The lawsuit alleged that the plan for the site ignores city code and zoning law and asked for a temporary, and eventually a permanent, injunction against putting a migrant tent base camp there to prevent what residents called “irreparable harm.”
The city has shown zero plans to put these migrant tent cities or house them any other way in the upscale and fancy todo neighborhoods of Chicago, just working class and poor neighborhoods. And this neighborhood has a lot of migrants in it, but, they’re the ones who, get this, came to the country legally.
Meanwhile in Denver
Migrant shelter conditions in Denver have some ready to leave sooner
Hundreds of migrants are being discharged from city-funded shelters in Denver, but many others are still living in them.
Many migrants FOX31 has spoken to are desperate to get out on their own and earn a living without breaking the law. One mother, Abdiel Araujo, has a 10-month-old baby, and her family has days left in a shelter.
Araujo came to Denver with her husband and child. The three have been living in a shelter, but her experience has her wanting a new life — one that won’t be easy to get.
“I would prefer to leave the shelter sooner rather than later,” Araujo said.
Lots of complaints, but, they showed up illegally. They failed to attempt the legal process to come to the United States. If they do not like the conditions, the door is at the Southern border. Leave.
Back to Chicago, as I ran across this piece by the Chicago Tribune editorial board while cruising Real Clear Politics after I already set the post to post at 1030
Editorial: Chicago can be a ‘sanctuary city,’ sure. Just not in my backyard.
Two uncomfortable but incontrovertible truths are becoming evident about Chicago and its relationship with the thousands of migrants who have arrived here in recent weeks
One is that tents are inadequate when it comes to keeping families warm, obvious now as an unseasonable freeze took hold on Halloween.
The second is that Chicago is far more comfortable with its sanctuary city designation in the abstract than it is when the notion of hundreds of migrants coming to someone’s specific neighborhood is floated.
It’s a long piece, but, yes, like so many things Democrat, they’re super excited to push issues and back initiatives as long as it doesn’t actually affect their own lives. Unfortunately, the editors are missing the point. No one should have to shoulder the burden, and the burden doesn’t need to be spread out. Texas governor Greg Abbott made sure that the burden was spread to designated sanctuary cities. What should happen is that the border is shut down as much as possible, and the asylum system is ended for the time being. We have too many here already, along with bringing in all sorts of refugees who do not seem interested in assimilating.

They were able to compare this to previous Holocene warm periods with direct observation, right?
The planet is on track to heat up at a much faster rate than scientists have previously predicted, meaning a key global warming threshold could be breached this decade, according to a new study co-authored by James Hansen — the US scientist widely credited with being the first to publicly sound the alarm on the climate crisis in the 1980s.
That would be the same guy who has consistently been wrong with his doommongering
In the paper, published Thursday in the journal Oxford Open Climate Change, Hansen and more than a dozen other scientists used a combination of paleoclimate data, including data from polar ice cores and tree rings, climate models and observational data, to conclude that the Earth is much more sensitive to climate change than previously understood.
“We are in the early phase of a climate emergency,” according to the report, which warns a surge of heat “already in the pipeline” will rapidly push global temperatures beyond what has been predicted, resulting in warming that exceeds 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels in the 2020s, and above 2 degrees Celsius before 2050.
Yada yada yada. Always with the scary prognostications, and never anything about how all Warmists should practice what they preach. It always ends with more government.
Some other scientists, however, have cast doubt on the paper’s conclusions that climate change is accelerating faster than models predict.
I’m sure CNN reached out to those scientists and will give us their thoughts, right?
Crickets. Can’t have people disagreeing with the doomsday cult that has become embedded with the Credentialed Media and politicians.

We keep letting in people who do not share our values and are aligned with Islamic terrorists
From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.

You get this
She, like so many, tries to gaslight on the saying. In full it goes “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”. It came about in the late 1940’s after the creation of Israel, and Palestinians were not happy. That’s understandable. It was less involved with religion and more about land back then, and it was, in fact, a call to replace Israel with an Arab nation of Palestinians. This was later adopted by the Palestinian Liberation Organization, a recognized terrorist organization who was bent on destroying Israel and kicking out the Jews. It has been adopted by many after to mean exactly that. Hamas has fully adopted it and their meaning is exactly to remove the Jews from Israel by any means necessary.
I don’t always agree with James Joyner, but, he makes a good point
In a new-deleted post, a scholar associated with the Harvard Kennedy School asserted that pro-Palestinian protestors who have no desire to see Israeli Jews harmed were carrying signs with the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
I responded, “Is there a version of ‘From the river to the sea’ that doesn’t end the existence of a Jewish state?”
To which he immediately replied, “I am not going to engage in this kind of convo.” (snip)
I don’t think my initial assertion was antagonistic, or even controversial. Any search for a history of the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is anti-Zionist. Most are from Jewish-leaning sites, where it’s painted as an eliminationist slogan. The most forgiving, pro-Palestinian accounts portray it as a call for a single Palestine in which Arabs and Jews can live together in peace. But, even if we take that version at face value, it, by definition, means the end of a Jewish state.
Even the most optimistic versions, which are what you mostly get when searching because of the algorithms, end with Palestinians in charge of all of Israel. Yeah, they might be letting Jews stick around (they won’t), but, they will be 2nd class citizens in what Hamas and others want to be a Muslim nation. Just like their backers in Iran.

This is an interesting Hot Take
Pelosi bashes No Labels as “perilous to our democracy” and threat to Biden
House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi on Thursday eviscerated the centrist group No Labels and its attempt to mount a third-party presidential bid.
“I think that No Labels is perilous to our democracy. I say that completely without any hesitation,” she said. “This is about an illusion being created, that it’s about non-partisanship and bringing people together.”
Pelosi made the statements at a breakfast with reporters hosted by Third Way, a centrist Democratic group that argues No Labels’ third-party effort will lead to another Donald Trump presidency.
“When they jeopardize the reelection of Joe Biden as president of the United States, I can no longer remain silent on them,” Pelosi said.
Got that? Citizens running for election that could harm Democrats is bad for Democracy. Seriously, isn’t that the whole point of Democracy (I’m speaking of everything in the Democractic Model, per Politics 101, which would include Constitutional Republics), people voting for different viewpoints, which would include parties? We might be better off with a bunch of different parties. Oh, and moving most governmental power back to the states and the People where it belongs.
You know what is perilous? People getting elected and staying in office for decades, treating it as a job.
