Your Fault: Climate Doom To Lead To More Superbugs

How dare you!

Climate change is contributing to the rise of superbugs, new UN report says

st greta carClimate change and antimicrobial resistance are two of the greatest threats to global health, according to a new report from the United Nations Environment Programme.

The report, titled “Bracing for Superbugs,” highlights the role of climate change and other environmental factors contributing to the rise of antimicrobial resistance. It was announced Tuesday at the Sixth Meeting of the Global Leaders Group on Antimicrobial Resistance in Barbados.

Antimicrobial resistance or AMR happens when germs such as bacteria, viruses and fungi develop the ability to defeat the medications designed to kill them. (snip)

The focus so far has largely been on excessive antimicrobial use, but experts say there is growing evidence that environmental factors play a significant role in the development, transmission and spread of antimicrobial resistance.

“Climate change, pollution, changes in our weather patterns, more rainfall, more closely packed, dense cities and urban areas – all of this facilitates the spread of antibiotic resistance. And I am certain that this is only going to go up with time unless we take relatively drastic measures to curb this,” said Dr. Scott Roberts, an infectious diseases specialist at Yale School of Medicine, who was not involved with the new UN report.

The climate crisis worsens antimicrobial resistance in several ways. Research has shown that increased temperatures increase both the rate of bacterial growth and the rate of the spread of antibiotic-resistant genes between microorganisms.

Remember how all those carbon emissions made the Black Plague worse?

“As we get a more extreme climate, especially as it warms, the gradients that drive the evolution of resistance will actually accelerate. So, by curbing temperature rises and reducing the extremity of events, we can actually then fundamentally curb the probability of evolving new resistance,” Dr. David Graham, a professor of ecosystems engineering at Newcastle University and one of the UN report’s authors, said at a news conference ahead of the report’s release.

Nothing but cult doom from these people.

Good News: IRS To Go After Service Industry Tips

Remember, those 87,000 new IRS employees will only go after those rich folks

Biden’s IRS plans to crack down on waiters’ tips

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) proposed a revenue procedure this week to crack down on the service industry’s reporting of tips.

The Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (SITCA) program would be a voluntary tip reporting system in which the IRS and service industry companies cooperate, according to the announcement Monday. As part of the proposal, the IRS will give the public until early May to provide feedback on the program before implementing it.

“Those 87,000 new IRS agents that you were promised would only target the rich,” tweeted Mike Palicz, federal affairs manager at Americans for Tax Reform. “They’re coming after waitresses’ tips now.”

According to the IRS, the program would seek to “improve tip reporting compliance,” reduce administrative burdens and provide more transparency and certainty to taxpayers.

How do you feel about defending the new IRS funding scheme now, Democrat voters? Do you get it now? Do you get that they won’t really be going after the rich, but, the middle and working classes, because it’s a whole lot easier, since they have less access to high price accountants and lawyers? The IRS gives a pinky promise that they won’t, but, that’s really where the money is.

“This is not a proposal for the auditing of servers,” an IRS official told Fox News Digital. “Yesterday’s action was a proposal for comment – not a rule – based on over a decade of feedback from restaurants and other businesses seeking the increased flexibility for their overall tax compliance on tips.”

And when the public says “don’t do this”, do you think the IRS will listen? And yes, a good chunk of those cash tips never end up being reported. Tough.

State stimulus checks: IRS plans to rule whether these payments are taxable this week

The Internal Revenue Service is expected to provide more guidance this week on whether stimulus checks that states issued in 2022 are considered taxable income on federal returns.

The agency urged taxpayers who are uncertain about the taxability of their state’s payments to hold off on filing their federal taxes until guidance is released, according to the agency’s announcement.

How these payments are treated could affect residents in at least 19 states that issued tax rebates after a revenue surplus or relief payments to help folks weather higher prices last year.

Guess which classes get boned if the IRS decides to treat the stimulus checks as income?

Climahypocrite Bill Gates Has No Intention Of Giving Up His Fossil Fueled Private Jets

Of course he won’t. Like most Warmists, he won’t reduce his own carbon footprint, he’ll just pay a “ticket” for his Bad Behavior, while trying to force Other People to have their carbon footprints reduced by government

Bill Gates on why he’ll carry on using private jets and campaigning on climate change

Bill Gates does not agree that using a private jet and campaigning on the issue of climate change represents a contradiction open to allegations of hypocrisy.

During a wide-ranging interview with the BBC aired at the end of last week, Gates was asked for his view on the charge that a climate change campaigner using a private jet to travel around the world was a hypocrite.

“Well, I buy the gold standard of, funding Climeworks, to do direct air capture that far exceeds my family’s carbon footprint,” the Microsoft co-founder, who was being interviewed in Kenya, replied.

“And I spend billions of dollars on … climate innovation. So, you know, should I stay at home and not come to Kenya and learn about farming and malaria?”

The billionaire added that he was “comfortable with the idea that, not only am I not part of the problem by paying for the offsets, but also through the billions that my Breakthrough Energy Group is spending, that I’m part of the solution.”

Warmists always have some sort of excuse, eh?

Bethany Hamilton Slams Surfing Organization For Allowing Gender Confused Men To Compete As Women

Yet another organization trying to let biological men take everything away from biological women

Surfer Bethany Hamilton speaks out against new rule allowing transgender women to compete with females

Not Bethany

Surfer, mom and book author Bethany Hamilton is speaking out against the World Surf League’s newly announced policy that would allow for male-bodied individuals known as transgender women to compete at the highest level in professional surfing against other women.

The Hawaii-based Hamilton is raising questions about the rules change, asking whether other professional surfers were consulted about it beforehand – and wondering where this will lead.

She said on her Instagram account in a video this weekend that is now being widely shared, “The World Surf League has officially made the rule that male-bodied individuals known as transgender athletes can officially compete in the women’s division.”

She added, “The World Surf League says they are following the Olympic guidelines.” (snip)

“How is this rule playing out in other sports, like swimming, running and MMA?” she asked.

“Have any of the current surfers in the World Surf League been asked what their thoughts and opinions are on this new rule before it was passed or announced? Should there be a conversation?” she added.

Is there as much difference between men and women in surfing, as in some other sports? Both can surf wonderfully, especially at the professional level. Both can be very fluid. I dare say, a lot of the movements made with legs can both be powerful. You don’t necessarily need the same difference in leg power that one may see in soccer or swimming. Except in terms of big wave surfing, when we’ve seen women have trouble with legs and core. One big difference is in upper body, the shoulders and back, needed to catch waves and control movements. Another is in ankle movement, where men tend to have a physiological advantage.

There are a lot of differences in casual surfing. Men tend to simply chill in the lineup, not talking much, just looking out at the ocean. Women like to socialize more, and aren’t particularly thrilled with the stoney faces of men, thinking men do not want them there. Not true. But, we’re talking about competition, not casual. I know the female pros will put most casual men surfers to shame.

I’ve watched women surf, and it is great. You can see a slightly better bit of slashing and hard turns from men, but, both can do aerials, 360s, and other tricks. Women tend to be a bit more fluid. They also tend to ride long boards more, but, we’re talking competition surfing. I’m betting there would not be as much difference competitively as in track, but, still, women have worked hard to find their place in a sport that tended to be mostly men, why are they trying to erase them?

She added, “I personally think that the best solution would be to create a different division so that all can have a fair opportunity to showcase their passion and talent – and I think it’s really hard to imagine what the future of women’s surfing will be like in 15-20 years down the road if we move forward allowing this major change.”

Obviously, she’s getting majorly attacked for this opinion, particularly from people who do not surf. And will never surf. And do not even live near any play one can go surfing. Why do they want to erase women? Meanwhile

US soccer star Becky Sauerbrunn supports trans girls playing youth sports, takes aim at Missouri lawmakers

Becky Sauerbrunn, a U.S. women’s soccer star who has won two FIFA World Cups and a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics, made her stance clear on bills that would bar transgender girls from playing sports with biological females.

Sauerbrunn’s op-ed was published in the Springfield News-Leader in Missouri on Sunday morning and goes after a state bill that would bar transgender girls from playing on girls’ sports teams. The 37-year-old center back wrote she can “assure you that playing with or against transgender women and girls is not a threat to women’s sports.”

Yeah, yeah, let’s see how she feels when a gender confused male starts playing on her team, or a team she’s playing against, and outperforming actual women. Because there is a big difference in abilities, hence why a women’s teams keep losing to men’s teams, such as when US women’s team lost 5-2 to an under-15 high school team. If women won’t fight for their place in certain sports, well, let them become male.

UN General Secretary Wants To Stop The “Relentless War On Nature” Or Something

Hey, maybe the U.N. could start with ending all the massive amount of private fossil fueled flights from all over the world?

UN Secretary-General: ‘No more baby steps’ on climate change

United Nations officials on Monday called for urgent and immediate action to address global problems such as climate change, nuclear threats and human rights during the opening session of its general assembly in New York.

This must be “a year of game-changing climate action” on climate, pollution and water, said Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during a speech on his 2023 priorities.

“We must end the merciless, relentless and senseless war on nature. It is putting our world at immediate risk of hurtling past the 1.5-degree temperature increase limit and now still moving toward a deadly 2.8 degrees.

“Meanwhile, humanity is taking a sledgehammer to our world’s rich biodiversity — with brutal and even irreversible consequences for people and planet,” he said. “Our ocean is choked by pollution, plastic and chemicals and vampiric overconsumption is draining the lifeblood of our planet — water.”

“We need disruption to end the destruction,” he added. “No more baby steps.”

Oh, you mean like the vast amounts of masks all over the landscape and the oceans and lakes and waterways, masks that did not do a damned thing? Masks that the UN recommended? Anyhow, the oceans are much cleaner than decades ago, but, we can do more, and do more for the environment. Which has nothing to do with the climate apocalypse.

Guterres invited government, business and civil society leaders across the world to a September climate summit with one condition: “Show us accelerated action in this decade and renewed ambitious net zero plans – or please don’t show up.”

Oh, good, thousands of people taking long fossil fueled flights.

Instead Of Providing Evidence, Biden Military Heads Offer Word Salad On Spy Balloon

Some people really need to be fired if they’re only figuring out now that spy balloons crossed into the U.S. without being noticed at the time

Let’s stay with CNN for a moment

Pentagon says it had an ‘awareness gap’ that led to failure to detect 3 Chinese balloons under Trump

The American military had a “domain awareness gap” that allowed three other suspected Chinese spy balloons to transit the continental United States undetected under the Trump administration, the Pentagon general responsible for providing air and missile defense over North America said on Monday.

“Every day as a NORAD commander, it’s my responsibility to detect threats to North America. I will tell you that we did not detect those threats,” Gen. Glen VanHerck, commander of US Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command said when asked about the three other balloons.

So, how do you know they occurred? He failed to answer that question.

“And that’s a domain awareness gap that we have to figure out, but I don’t want to go into further detail.”

Word salad. He also yammered about “having additional fidelity at this time”. But, did not answer questions over 1. how NORAD allowed the balloon to cross the U.S. and 2. what proof he has that they did whole Trump was president.

VanHerck added that the intelligence community after the fact was able to gather intelligence “from additional means that made us aware of those balloons that were previously approaching North America or transited North America.”

That’s convenient, eh? But, don’t ask what those means are, years after the events supposedly occurred.

Past surveillance balloons were discovered at the beginning of the Biden administration because President Joe Biden directed the intelligence community “to increase both our vigilance and the assets that we were deploying to be able to detect Chinese efforts to spy against the United States,” said national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

Oh, please. First, that sounds like pure mule fritters, second, how would this have picked up spy balloons, when they would have been looking for electronic? Seriously, they’re just making this crap up as the go.

Good News: Greenie Weenies Look To Shut Down Mohave Solar, Bullet Train Projects

These are the same people who scream for green energy and forcing Everyone Else to take the train

Can bighorns, a bullet train and a huge solar farm coexist in the Mojave Desert?

To most travelers on Interstate 15 between Barstow and Las Vegas, the Mojave Desert’s jagged Soda Mountains rise above a seemingly lifeless wasteland of hellish sand dunes, lava flows and vast flatlands.

But scientists say the scorched terrain just half a mile north of the Mojave National Preserve’s aptly named Devil’s Playground is a deceptively delicate and vital ecosystem rich in wildlife: tortoises, foxes, badgers, bobcats and bighorn sheep.

Now, proposals to build a high-speed electric rail linking Southern California to Las Vegas and revive a long-dead solar project in the area have triggered a clash with conservationists over how best to ensure that bighorn sheep populations do not become genetically isolated — or wind up as roadkill.

Of particular concern was a recent announcement that the California Department of Fish and Wildlife is reviewing a revised version of the controversial Soda Mountain Solar Project that includes requests for permits to “take,” or fatally injure, desert tortoises, and alter desert washes during construction.

“We can’t let this solar project happen,” said Chris Clarke of the nonprofit National Parks Conservation Assn.

“The value of this landscape and its habitat,” he said, “far outweighs the value of energy the proposed project would generate.”

Solar, wind, geothermal, hydrothermal, trains, etc, the climate cultists all say we should have them, but, that’s only theoretical. As soon as you try and actually do the projects, they look to shut them down.

State wildlife authorities will evaluate the project’s environmental impacts, as required by the California Environmental Quality Act.

“Let’s all take a deep breath,” said Chuck Bonham, director of state Fish and Wildlife. “The desert is an invaluable landscape, and any proposed solar project has got to go through a public process.

If these ever happen, it will take 20+ years, so, why bother?

Green Fail: Dozens of Scottish Wind Turbines Powered by Diesel Generators, Pour Hydraulic Oil Into Countryside

Scotland’s green-obsessed left-separatist government has been left with egg on its face by revelations that dozens of gigantic onshore wind turbines are having to be hooked up to diesel generators, leaking thousands of litres of hydraulic oil into the countryside.

Scottish Power — led by a Spaniard, Ignacio Galan, and actually a subsidiary of Spanish firm Iberdrola — conceded that some 71 of its turbines had to be hooked up to diesel generators to keep them warm in December, according to the Sunday Mail, with a whistleblower telling the left-leaning newspaper that problems with the turbines are deep-seated.

Oops.

Biden Admin Quietly Releases Al Qaeda Terrorist From Gitmo During Spy Balloon Incident

I won’t say the Credentialed Media didn’t cover this, they just did it quietly, in stories that were buried deep in the paper/web editions, that people probably didn’t notice

Biden quietly releases al Qaeda terrorist Majid Khan to Belize after 16 years in CIA custody in Guantanamo Bay as US was focused on Chinese spy balloon: Terrorist who was radicalized by 9/11 says: ‘I promise I’ve changed’

While Americans were focused on a Chinese spy balloon making its way across the country, the Biden administration quietly released an al Qaeda terrorist radicalized by the September 11 attacks from Guantanamo Bay.

The Pentagon announced on Thursday that Majid Khan, 42, was moved to Belize after spending 16 years in CIA custody.

Authorities have maintained he was a close personal ally of al Qaeda leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who helped deliver money and transport other senior terrorists. And under Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s plans, Khan would have attacked US gas stations and water reservoirs.

Khan, the only United States legal resident being held at Guantanamo, now says he has changed as an individual and promises to be a law-abiding citizen in Belize.

His release comes just one week before a United Nations visits the detention center in Cuba, as United States officials work to free two other al Qaeda terrorists.

Khan, who graduated from a Maryland high school before joining the terrorist organization, started his new life in Belize on Thursday, after completing his 10-year sentence in March 2022.

The Biden admin has apparently been working on this for months, as negotiations started with Belize in September. And what a perfect time to release him, when something big was going on. They didn’t let a Chinese spy balloon cross the entire U.S. in order to create a distraction, did they? In fairness

He pleaded guilty in 2012 to conspiracy to commit murder, spying and ‘providing material support for terrorism.’

Khan was then sentenced to 10 years confinement with ‘credit for the three years he spent cooperating with US personnel.’

That sentence ended March 1, 2022, but authorities had to find a country willing to take him before he could be released. Though he has family in the United States, federal law does not allow Guantanamo Bay detainees to be resettled in the country.

So, he had to be released, but, it was done quietly. Should have sent him to Rehoboth, Delaware. I’m sure they could have found space.
