159 Democrats Voted Against Laken Riley Act

A bit of a follow up, forgot to hit post on this Tuesday

(Daily Caller) 159 House Democrats voted Tuesday against legislation titled the Laken Riley Act that would require federal immigration authorities to detain illegal migrants who commit theft-related crimes in the U.S and would also allow states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to their residents because of illegal immigration. (snip)

“Laken Riley was brutally murdered by an illegal alien that President Biden and the Democrats let into this country with their open border policy. It is hard to believe after countless horrific stories like Laken’s, ANY House Democrats would vote against deporting illegal aliens who commit violent crimes against American citizens,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said in a statement.

“But 159 just did, demonstrating some Democrats have ignored the loud and clear message from voters in this election who demanded secure borders, the deportation of violent illegal aliens, and laws that put the safety and security of the American people first,” Johnson added.

These Democrats are prioritizing illegal aliens and fake asylum seekers over U.S. citizens. How many Democrat Senators will vote against it?

Ross is my Rep. You also had North Carolina reps Alma Adams and Valarie Foushee, both Democrats, voting against. Donald Davis (D) voted for the legislation. Calls and emails to Ross’ office have gone unanswered. They do not care about you.

UN Climate Cult Leader Upset Nations Aren’t Cracking Down On Their Peasants

After all this time it’s pretty easy to read between the lines

World’s climate fight needs fundamental reform, UN expert says: ‘Some states are not acting in good faith’

Green Climate Thought PoliceThe international effort to avert climate catastrophe has become mired by misinformation and bad faith actors, and must be fundamentally reformed, according to a leading UN climate expert.

Elisa Morgera, the UN special rapporteur on climate change, said the annual UN climate summits and the consensus-based, state-driven process is dominated by powerful forces pushing false narratives and by tech fixes that divert attention from real, equitable solutions for the countries least responsible and most affected.

“The current climate regime was built in a way, maybe unconsciously, that locked in an ineffective approach that is blind to the disproportionate harms of climate change – and increasingly climate solutions – and the disproportionate benefits that the current situation is accruing to very few states and very few individuals,” said Morgera, in an exclusive interview with the Guardian.

“We can observe that some states are not acting in good faith in very clear ways, which is the basis of any international regime. There is widespread disregard for the rule of international law, and also a very clear pushback on the science, and shrinking of civil spaces at all levels. Basically, the truth is out of the conversation. That is the problem – there is no space at Cop for the truth,” said Morgera.

“Fundamental reform is possible, if there is a willingness by the states and the secretariat, but it’s hard to see that at the moment.”

Her Government Speak is simply code for “nations need to crack down on the free speech of their citizens. No more skepticism. No difference of opinion. Cut them off of social media. Do not allow them on TV and in the news. Block them. Start taking everyone’s money and Do Something.” I’ve been saying for 20 years that this is all about authoritarian government, not science, and they keep saying things that prove that.

Surprise: NYC’s Congestion Pricing Will Cause Trouble For Firefighter Response

Yet another case of “what could possibly go wrong”

FDNY union leaders warn against congestion pricing after being denied exemption: ‘Don’t go down this road’

unintended consequencesFDNY union leaders are fighting back against the Big Apple’s new congestion pricing, warning the toll will negatively impact response times, leaving residents and first responders to deal with potentially deadly results.

Uniformed Firefighters Association President Andrew Ansbro and Uniformed Fire Officers Association President Jim Brosi discussed the new congestion pricing and its inadvertent side effects on the fire department during “FOX & Friends.”

“We begged, and we pleaded, ‘Don’t don’t go down this road,'” Ansbro told Lawrence Jones on Tuesday. “There’s only about 270 firefighters every single day working in the zone. We estimate the cost to be $3,000 a day because we bring our vehicles into the zone, and we bring vehicles into the city, and then we use them when they move us from firehouse to firehouse.”

“When there’s a shortage [in] one place, and a surplus in another… twice a day, you have three to 400 firefighters going to a different firehouse or returning from that firehouse, and they used to have the ability to use 2000 of our cars at a moment’s notice,” he continued.

So, basically firefighters need to be able to move around, and, if they cannot take their own vehicles they have to wait for the bus or take the subway, which could increase response time as well as reduce the number of firefighters available for response. Especially since they could dragging along 85+ pounds of equipment. I wonder what the government elites and all those cheering the congestion pricing will think when this causes a delayed response time for their emergency

“Change is hard. And when things are going well for people — like the 90% of people who know that the system that gets them to work or to school every single day is going to be invested in, is going to be there for them and their families — they’re not taking to the streets to say how great this is. But they are the beneficiaries, the mass majority of people who work in this area,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Monday.

Hey, I wonder if Hochul will be using the subway or buses when she’s in NYC? Or driving around in her big SUV? How about NYC employees: will they have to pay out of their own pockets when they drive through the congestion zone? That should be required.

Brosi argued the likely delayed response times and unconventional traffic outside the congestion pricing zones could be dangerous for residents and firefighters alike, and could cost millions if the department needs additional vehicles to fill the void.

They would need a whole bunch of new, government owned vehicles to avoid the toll.

“It’s difficult to see how the response times wouldn’t be affected because these units are operating well beyond their normal routine response area,” Brosi said. “We’ve already seen firefighters stay on duty for an extra two, four, six or eight hours after a 24-hour shift in a place where they’re really already doing 6,000 runs a year. That is a tremendous toll on the members and likely to lead to more injuries.”

And, instead of exempting the firefighters from the tolls the city will end up spending a fortune in overtime.

Your Yearly Reminder That Cold And Winter Weather Is All Your Fault

Once the doomsday cult sinks their teeth into a talking point they never let go, no matter how crazy

From the link

Frigid air that normally stays trapped in the Arctic has escaped, plunging deep into the United States for an extended visit that is expected to provoke teeth-chattering but not be record-shattering.

It’s a cold air outbreak that some experts say is happening more frequently, and paradoxically, because of a warming world. Such cold air blasts have become known as the polar vortex. It’s a long-established weather term that’s become mainstream as its technical meaning changed a bit on the way.

What it really means to average Americans in areas where the cold air comes: brrrrr.

Yeah, we can stop there, no need to repeat the climamoonbattery “science” yet again. The cultists, in this case uber-Warmist Seth Borenstein, really do blame winter on too much warmth. Did too much warmth cause the Little Ice Age?

Republicans To Hold Vote On Laken Riley Act

I’m expecting about 167 no votes from Democrats

Republicans tee up fast votes on Laken Riley Act to deport illegal immigrants who steal, shoplift

Congressional Republicans are speeding their first immigration crackdown bill through Congress with an initial vote scheduled later this week on the Laken Riley Act, which would pressure Homeland Security to detain and deport illegal immigrants who shoplift or steal.

Sen. Katie Britt, Alabama Republican, announced a Senate version of the bill on Tuesday and Rep. Mike Collins, Georgia Republican, announced the House version.

House GOP leaders have already slated it for a floor vote on Tuesday, and given the backing of new Senate Majority Leader John Thune, the bill will likely see fast action in the upper chamber, too. (big snip through what happened to Laken Riley)

The Laken Riley Act would push ICE to arrest and detain illegal immigrants who commit shoplifting, burglary, larceny or theft offenses.

It would also create an avenue for states to bring a civil case in court against federal officials who refuse to enforce immigration law.

It shouldn’t even be necessary to pass another law: they are here illegally, on some sort of state sponsored status, or fake asylum seekers, and any violation of the law should mean immediate deportation. If a person is going through the legal citizenship process and breaks the law that status ends and they are sent packing.

A version of the Laken Riley Act was approved in the GOP-led House last year in a 251-170 vote. More than three dozen Democrats backed it.

Will there be several dozen Democrats voting for it this time? Or, will they vote en mass against it, being no election upcoming? Because Democrats ran the Senate it never got a vote. This time it will pass the House and then get a vote in the senate. But, will 8 Democrats cross over and vote for it to overcome the filibuster threshold? Regardless, the GOP should wait till Trump takes the oath of office, as there is no telling what Biden will do. If he vetoes it they’ll just have to vote again.

Dem gov who vows to fight Trump border enforcement outraged by migrant using shelter for criminal activity

A blue state governor who pledged to fight Trump administration deportation efforts expressed outrage Monday after a migrant was allegedly caught with nearly $1 million worth of drugs and an AR-15 rifle at a hotel that is being temporarily used as a shelter.

“It’s outrageous that this individual took advantage of our shelter system to engage in criminal activity,” Massachusetts Democratic Gov. Maura Healey said in a statement.

Healey was responding to news of Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, a native of the Dominican Republic, facing firearm and drug trafficking charges while using the state’s shelter system. The suspect, 28, was found at a Quality Inn in Revere, Massachusetts, which currently serves as a shelter.

Who would have thought that all these fake asylum seekers, mostly young men, would be a problem? Someone should have warned Healey.

Doom Today: Global Boiling Causing Problems With Apples

It’s always some sort of doom with this crowd

Climate change is hampering US apple quality and output: Study

Many of the nation’s biggest apple-generating regions are confronting challenges in crop growth and development, due to the impacts of a changing climate, a new study has found.

While apple orchards nationwide have become increasingly vulnerable to warming trends, the three U.S. counties with the biggest output are among the most affected, according to the study, published on Monday in Environmental Research Letters.

At the top of that list was Yakima County, Wash., which is home to more than 48,800 acres of orchards — and which showed worrisome signs in five of six metrics analyzed by Washington State University scientists. Next in line were Kent County, Mich., and Wayne County, N.Y.

“We shouldn’t take the delicious apples we love to consume for granted,” said corresponding Deepti Singh, a Washington State climate scientist, in a statement. “Changing climate conditions over multiple parts of the growth cycle pose potentially compounding threats to the production and quality of apples.”

So, a 1.6F increase in global temperatures since 1850 are dooming apples? These people. They are just so tiresome.

Manufactured Kerfuffle Of The Day: GOP Rep Deb Fischer’s Husband Refused To Shake Hands With Kamala

The left is losing their minds over this

It’s all raaaaacism this and raaaaacism that

(The Grio) Bruce Fischer refused to make any eye or physical contact with America’s first female, first Black woman and first South Asian vice president.

A resurfaced clip of Nebraska Republican Senator Deb Fischer’s husband refusing to shake Vice President Kamala Harris‘s hand has gone viral on social media.

On Friday, Jan. 3, Harris performed her duty as vice president to swear in the new class of U.S. senators in the new 119th Congress — which includes both Democrats and Republicans. However, after Sen. Fischer was sworn in by Harris for her third term in office, her husband, Bruce Fischer, who held up the Bible during the swearing-in ceremony, deliberately declined to shake the vice president’s hand as she reached for his hand.

“Congratulations to you,” said the vice president as she extended her hand to Bruce Fischer after shaking his wife’s hand. Bruce Fischer instead looked down and simply nodded his head and said, “Thank you.” He refused to make any eye or physical contact with America’s first female, first Black woman and first South Asian vice president. Harris, who appeared taken aback by the snub, simply smiled and said, “You sure?”

How horrible! How mean! How rude! How raaaaacist! Oh, wait

As Sister Toldjah writes

I saw some folks suggest that Fischer could have shaken her hand after he gave the Bible back to the Senator. But the full video clip shows that Mr. Fischer looked a little unsteady on his feet and was watching the floor, perhaps to make sure he didn’t fall

Speaking from my role as a caregiver, I watched my dad constantly look down when he used his cane over the years and then later his walker, terrified he was going to fall. My mom has done the same. Dad did not like to be touched (hand on back, shoulder, handshake, etc), either, while using the cane and walker for the same reasons.

My dad looks down a lot, as well, with his cane and walker. I looked down a lot when I was much younger on the separate occasions I was on crutches from breaking my ankle then breaking my leg. And then when I moved to a walking cast.

Hotcold Take: Trump, Project 2025 Could Make Climate Crisis (scam) Overtake Us

It’s always some sort of witchcraft, a boogyman, with this doomsday cult. I have a solution for the Courier-Journal’s Henry Jackson: give up your own use of fossil fuels and make your own life carbon neutral. Get the Courier-Journal to do the same. Tell all your climate cult comrades to do the same. But, really, it’s really telling where Jackson goes

Under Trump and Project 2025, extreme weather, climate chaos could overtake us | Opinion

With the climate crisis denial party now in control of all three branches of the federal government, some otherwise indifferent members of Congress need to carefully consider that the most immediate and overarching danger facing the nation is climate change. It is accelerating in both frequency and power. The need to respond to multiple and cascading weather disasters may become nearly impossible to manage under the best of circumstances. Our nearly daily weather chaos is likely only the tip of the spear.

Trump’s plans in Project 2025 to reduce federal government capacity would significantly impair its abilities to deal with mounting calamity. He would leave behind a severely diminished federal service and military that will deal with increasing levels of climate chaos here and around the world. (snip)

Mounting demand for national emergency response will require the full breath and capacity of the federal government to address widespread economic impacts, infrastructure damage, spread of disease due to a warmer climate, domestic mass migration to safer climes, related supply-chain disruptions and increasingly affecting every aspect of daily life.

I find it interesting that at the heart of this debate you see the doomsday cult wanting more and more power for the government, especially the federal government. How dare Trump and Republicans attempt to reduce the power of the government back to where the Constitution wanted it to be! The cult is, at its root, authoritarian. Way back in the mid-2000’s when I said this was not about science, but, about government power, people, even Skeptics, said I was nuts. I was right then and I’m right now.

In the final analysis, the younger you are, the more you have at stake. But rest assured that for our children and grandchildren the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Yet, they do not practice what they preach. And more and more are opting out of the cult. They aren’t too keen on a Fascist government.
