If only the Hittites had driven EVs and powered everything with wind and solar, they could have survived
Climate change may have toppled Hittite Empire: study
Three years of extreme drought may have brought about the collapse of the mighty Hittite Empire around 1200 BC, researchers have said, linking the plight of the fallen civilization to the modern world’s climate crisis.
The Hittites dominated Anatolia in modern-day Turkey for nearly 500 years, even rivaling the power of the Egyptian Empire for a period.
They were one of several influential ancient civilizations in the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East which were all toppled or severely weakened at around the same time, bringing the curtain down on the Bronze Age.
The Hittites mysteriously abandoned their capital and religious center Hattusa around 1200 BC, when the royal line died out and written historical documents dried up.
“Linking the plight”. Are they saying that the current climatic changes are being caused mostly/solely by nature? Because that’s damned sure what caused those years of drought. Interestingly, the Hittites thrived during a slight cooling period that was ending and into a slight warming period, similar to the current one. And then died out as a deep cooling period started.
Of course, they really do not know what truly caused the end
The rings showed three-straight years—1198 BC to 1196 BC—with “unusually” low growth, suggesting a prolonged and particularly severe drought, according to the study published in the journal Nature on Wednesday.
The researchers suggested that the drought caused severe food shortages, particularly for the land-locked parts of the central Hittite kingdom, which depended on grain and livestock.
The food shortages could have led to political, economic and social unrest, ultimately bringing about the end of the empire.
The tree rings from a limited era “suggest.” Of course
Manning warned that current global warming means the modern world could face a “multi-year existential threat” similar to the one that affected the Hittites.
Sigh. It’s all about the scaremongering.

He’s actually being nice in the manner he puts it, because he’s mostly likely thinking “don’t bring your Modern Socialism wackadoodle moonbattery to Utah”
Utah GOP Governor to Californians fleeing to his state due to crime, taxes: ‘Stay in California’
Utah’s Republican Governor suggested Friday that California residents who are looking to join the recent population exodus into Republican states like Utah should stay in California.
“We’re having the opposite problem, this last census confirmed that Utah was the fastest-growing state in the last ten years,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox told reporters outside the White House after New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy discussed ways he will encourage people to move to his state.
“So our biggest problems are more growth related. We would love for people to stay in California instead of coming as refugees to Utah, so we’re always trying to figure that out.”
Cox explained that the biggest problems his state faces in terms of growth are housing and water.
“We’re not working to attract more people,” Cox said. “We’re doing just fine that way. Utah was named the best state to start a business, with Texas and Florida number two and three, so we feel really good about that balance and where we are right now.”
I bet if you’re a Conservative you’d be welcome, because they’d be bringing Utah values, rather than the Progressive (nice Fascism) insanity.
Cox’s remarks come as Californians have fled the Golden State at record numbers in recent years due to a variety of reasons that include high taxes, crime, coronavirus lockdowns, homelessness and skyrocketing housing prices.
California saw its population fall by more than 343,000 people in 2022 which was one of the biggest population declines of any state.
It’s so strange that the people who vote for the Democrat politicians who institute hardcore Democrat policies, along with voting for the wacko far left ballot measures, are running from everything they voted for. Did they not think that the fallout would apply to their own lives and money? Their own safety? The problem is, when they flee the People’s Republik Of California they then want to bring the same bat guano insane beliefs with them, and agitate for them.

That’s a good question. And this article from the Sacramento Bee is a rather interesting cautionary tale
California gave Teslas to an isolated farmworker community. Why did the cars vanish overnight?
In a small San Joaquin Valley neighborhood surrounded by miles of nut and citrus groves, six electric vehicle charging stations sit abandoned. Their parking spots are empty, their screens shattered.
Over five short months and with nearly $2 million, the state powered a fleet of Teslas and Chevy Bolts that lent residents of this isolated community a transportation lifeline. Then one day at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cars vanished.
“Overnight, our means of transportation disappeared,” said Rosario Rodríguez, a resident of Cantua Creek. “We felt a lot of emotions all at once, because it left us defenseless. If we get sick or have a medical appointment, then what? What are we going to do?”
Nearly three years later, the electric cars are in Los Angeles and Rodríguez is back to relying on favors from friends to make the 30- minute commute to her nearest supermarket and hour-long drive to doctor’s appointments.
The vehicle chargers, once seen as an innovative solution to a woefully inadequate transportation system, are monuments to a bungled state program and the indignity endured by Rodríguez’s community when it briefly enjoyed, and then abruptly lost, a basic resource.
The community is 100% Latino, the average income is $36k, and it is pretty isolated from big box stores, grocery stores, and medical facilities (weird how so many other areas in the U.S. are isolated, be it the South, North, Midwest, Alaska, yet, can make it work in a way they can’t in the People’s Republik Of California). So, government came with a Helping Hand. Government gave them charging stations and 2 Tesla X’s and 2 Chevy Dolts, er, Bolts, and Government made a huge deal out of how magnanimous it was, and actually had more in the region.
So, what happened?
But Van y Vienen ended in April 2020, just four months after it began, as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. To the disappointment of people in Cantua Creek, Green Commuter absorbed the vehicles into its Los Angeles fleet per terms of the grant.
Nearly three years later, none of the players involved take full responsibility for the project’s demise.
What government giveth it can taketh away(eth). If government is controlling your means of movement, it can yank it out from under you in a second. In this case, to keep citizens from being able to move during Wuhan Flu. And never restored it. Government says they do not have the funds to sustain it. But, of course, California can spend oodles of taxpayer money on illegal aliens, abortions, vacations for government employees, transgender madness, and other garbage.
Seriously, they could have bought a few commuter vans, and everything would have been fine, instead of expensive Tesla X’s. Seriously, $1.9 million for 4 cars and 9 charging stations? Regardless of the idiocy of government, especially the PRC’s government, the lesson is to not let government be in control of your ability to move.

I don’t think I’ve ever done an If All You See… post featuring a washer (or dryer), but, I’ve done plenty with refrigerators in them, because the Cult of Climastrology feels that they are Bad for climate apocalypse. And have stated that they will come after them. Cue the Let’s Go Brandon admin
Biden admin cracks down on washers, fridges in latest climate action: ‘Overregulation on steroids’
The Biden administration proposed sweeping rules Friday to boost energy efficiency standards for clothes washers and refrigerators in an action it claimed would save consumers money and “significantly reduce pollution.”
The Department of Energy (DOE) said the two regulations, which would be implemented in 2027 if approved, are projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 233 million metric tons over the next 30 years. The agency also estimated that the energy-efficiency standards taking certain appliance models off the market would save $3.5 billion on an annual basis.
“With today’s proposals, we’re building on a decades-long effort with our industry partners to ensure tomorrow’s appliances work more efficiently and save Americans money,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said in a statement.
It’s not the first time, as the Obama admin tried this schtick several times, once even trying to push to use refrigerants that were not commercially available or feasible.
Experts, though, have argued the appliance regulations are unnecessary and that consumers are already able to freely purchase more efficient appliances.
“This is overregulation on steroids,” Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told Fox News Digital in an interview. “These are appliances that have already been subjected to multiple rounds of successively tighter standards.”
“There is just not much there there anymore,” he said. “There’s a great risk of doing more harm than good in the form of appliances — refrigerators or washers that cost more upfront than you’re ever likely to save in the form of less energy and water use.”
Seriously, they already have seen many regulations to be more energy efficient and use less water. This will make them more expensive, much like the new SEER regulations have made air conditioning units several thousand more than they were last year. Washers and fridges probably won’t jump that much, but, consumers are already suffering under Bidenflation, so, why do something that will make them more expensive? And, it will most likely jump up the price of the lower price units, hurting the working and lower middle class folks the most. All for a scam.

Is it any wonder that the youts are having lots of mental issues when they are treated to a constant litany of doom and gloom?
Greta Thunberg: ‘The World Is Getting More Grim by the Day’
There is genuinely no precedent in the modern history of geopolitics for the climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Four and a half years ago, she began “striking” outside of Swedish parliament — a single teenager with a single sign. She was 15. In just a few months, she had made her mark at the United Nations climate conference in Poland: “You are not mature enough to tell it like it is,” she told the assembled diplomats and negotiators, “even that burden you leave to us children.” (snip)
In early February I spoke with Thunberg, who was in Sweden, over Zoom, about why she believes it is now a trickier time to be a climate activist than when she began, why it’s no longer sufficient to listen to the scientists, the necessity of systems change and whether she still believes in the basic goodness of people. The conversation has been edited lightly for clarity and length. (snip)
What’s changed, if anything, since then?
(St. Greta) It seems like the world is getting more and more grim every day. The concentration of CO? is now higher in the atmosphere and causing more and more extreme weather.
But there are also positive things that have changed. We have more people now who are mobilized and who are in the climate movement, in the fight for the climate and social justice.
So I guess that’s a good thing. But we have to be able to zoom out and see that we are still moving in the wrong direction. The things that people said back then that they were going to do, they still haven’t done, which proves, or which shows us, that it was just empty promises and really not taking it seriously, unfortunately.
Oh, good, the kids are mobilized. What are they doing in their own lives? What are they giving up in their 1st World lives to help out the folks in the 3rd world shitholes developing nations, since the mostly 1st World white kids think that blacks and browns cannot get ahead on their own (their beliefs do seem rather racist, eh?)?
Four or five years ago, you were really emphasizing that we need to listen to the scientists. Is that still sufficient?
No, of course not. In the beginning — well, “in the beginning” — people have been campaigning about this for decades. But when I began, I said we need to listen to the scientists because people were still treating the climate crisis as something debatable. And now — at least in the discourse — we’ve kind of settled that. It is a crisis. Even scientists and even heads of state are saying that this is an emergency.
See, we do not need to listen to the scientists because it is not a science.
In the book, you wrote: “We still need to answer some fundamental questions. What is it exactly we want to solve in the first place? What is our goal?” How would you answer those questions now?
Right now it seems like the people in power just don’t want to solve the climate crisis. They want to find “solutions,” whether they’re good or not, that enable us to continue now as we have been, that allow them to continue staying in power and to satisfy their greed. That’s not what I think that we should be striving for. I think that we need to make sure that no one’s well-being is at the expense of someone else. But that’s not what our current people in power seem to want.
Hmm, Modern Socialism. Go figure.
