There is, finally, a little more detail on the White House website, but, most of it makes little sense, spends more money, and, much of the energy price hikes came well before Putin invaded Ukraine, and were the result of Biden’s energy policies. For instance

Those wouldn’t do anything for years, and trying to get people into EVs that are way more expensive doesn’t really help in lowering costs. There’s a temptation to fisk the entire thing, but, you know it’s a very silly plan which is the same old same old that would hurt, not help

Top Biden administration officials will be dispatched across the country this week to reassure Americans that combating inflation remains a top priority for the White House as prices soar and economic concerns mount, a White House official tells CNN.

Nice that they’re taking fossil fueled trips using high price gas that you the taxpayer are paying for, eh? How many will be in EVs?

The travel blitz by Cabinet members and senior officials comes as President Joe Biden meets with world leaders at the G7 and NATO summits in Germany and Spain, where leaders are discussing, among other things, rising costs that have been driven in part by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year. One White House official said the travel is designed to highlight how “Biden’s leadership on the world stage is centered around delivering for the American middle class.”

Is CNN printing a piece approved by the White House?

The officials are expected to tout the bipartisan infrastructure law and outline steps the President has taken to try to bring down costs, even as Biden himself has acknowledged there is little he can do to immediately bring down the high price of gas and groceries that has been putting stress on millions of Americans.

So, he has a plan but it won’t work? Huh. Then why are they traveling around? And what is being accomplished with the infrastructure law? Where’s the money going? What’s being built right now? That looks to be pretty much all they’re doing. But, really, this is just a bit of going to see the base and keep them on Biden’s side.

Commonwealth ends summit with call for action on climate change, trade

The newly-expanded Commonwealth made broad commitments on Saturday to address climate change and boost trade, concluding a summit aimed at shoring up the relevance of a group that evolved from the British empire.

The club, whose 56 members range from India to the tiny Pacific island nation of Nauru, covers some 2.5 billion people or about one-third of the world’s population. It presents itself as a network for cooperation, but critics say it needs to carve out a more concrete role and be less of a talking shop.

The week-long summit in Rwanda’s capital Kigali included comments from Britain’s Prince Charles expressing sorrow for his country’s role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the first time the Commonwealth has publicly addressed the subject. (snip)

A “Living Lands Charter” stated that Commonwealth countries would work to implement previously-signed international deals like the Paris climate agreement.

“We know that we are at code red when it comes to climate change and that the small member states are facing a crisis that could be existential,” Patricia Scotland, re-elected during the summit as Commonwealth secretary-general, told reporters.

Code red? LOL. Nutjobs. Nutjobs who flew from as far away as New Zealand as members of this Commonwealth. It’s great that they’re stating that their plebes will give up their money, freedom, life choices, and modern lifestyles.

I had hoped, intensely, this wouldn’t actually come. But the Dobbs case has been handed down. Unvarnished. Lawless. Dishonest. Heedless of the damage that will now immediately ensue. Hideously ideological, unelected hacks have moved to inflict their politics and their religion on a non-consenting nation. Now we all reap the whirlwind.

Realistically, you cannot have a discussion or debate with these people anymore, they are so far out there. Calling them barking moonbats minimizes the crazy. The Atlantic says America is growing far apart, possibly for good. We not only do not agree on means, we do not agree on ends. These people are against deciding anything based on law and the Constitution

Democrats and their friends must understand that the battle for the American democracy is now, presently, upon us. Not tomorrow, not if the Congress is lost, not if Trump gets elected again, but now. This day. The Supreme Court fired on Fort Sumter. And if they’ll do this, it’s childish to think they won’t do more. Government by angry minority is launched. It will not be voluntarily abandoned.

So, in Washington, Democrats must act. First, the party must clearly state the mission. It must demand, therefore, the enactment of legislation codifying Roe v. Wade. Now. The bill should be as clean and sparse as possible to build the broadest coalition. It’s not time for a Christmas tree. But it must move. And all Democrats, if they are to stay in the caucus, must fight for it. They cannot defer based on the filibuster, the desire to meet authoritarians halfway, or anything else. The line of engagement must be drawn. If we lose, we lose. But at least we’ll show we’re committed to the American promise. And if we lose at this moment, we serve notice we’ll fight again next week. And the week after. We’re finished surrendering without battle.

Yeah, and the legislation would result in lawsuits out the ying yang, because the Dobbs decision pretty much stated it is a State’s Rights issue. And here we go

Then there’s the Supreme Court. It’s crucial to be clear-eyed. There is no judicial institution here to save. It’s gone. The only question is whether it takes the democracy with it. The elected branches of government must fight back. So next, as has occurred before in our history, the Congress should pass legislation postponing the next term of the Supreme Court. A quick and bold shot across the bow; declaring this will not stand. It will cause disruption and confusion. But anyone who doesn’t think Dobbs has brought disruption by the galaxy-full is dreaming.

This is why the basis of our whole system is a Nation of Law, not a Nation of Men. To avoid these overly insane mental breakdowns of emotion

Next, after Roe is codified, the Congress should remove the jurisdiction of the U.S. Supreme Court to hear abortion cases. The constitution grants such power.

Strange that the article fails to cite anything to support that notion

And the Court that handed down Dobbs will not be hesitant to invalidate a new statute codifying Roe – though it has no conceivable authority to do so.

Except for that whole Constitution thing.

The high court should, therefore, be preemptively removed from the fray. If the justices attempt to act in defiance of the jurisdictional ban, they should be impeached.

Give it a try, sparky.

I concede this sounds extreme. But the fact is, this is the trauma we face. Pretending otherwise won’t help. The clock is ticking. Democracy calls.

Russia Making War On Ukraine Is Just So Inconvenient For ‘Climate Change’

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine seemed like an unexpected opportunity for environmentalists, who had struggled to focus the world’s attention on the kind of energy independence that renewable resources can offer. With the West trying to wean itself from Russian oil and gas, the argument for solar and wind power seemed stronger than ever.

Right, right, an unexpected opportunity. A lot of people have to die, be hurt, lose their homes, have to flee the country, all so Warmists to have an opportunity. Sounds rather cold. Do these “journalists” even think about what they’re writing?

But four months into the war, the scramble to replace Russian fossil fuels has triggered the exact opposite. As the heads of the Group of 7 industrialized nations gather in the Bavarian Alps for a meeting that was supposed to cement their commitment to the fight against climate change, fossil fuels are having a wartime resurgence, with the leaders more focused on bringing down the price of oil and gas than immediately reducing their emissions.

Nations are reversing plans to stop burning coal. They are scrambling for more oil and are committing billions to building terminals for liquefied natural gas, known as L.N.G.

Fossil fuel companies, long on the defensive, are capitalizing on energy security anxieties and lobbying hard for long-term infrastructure investments that risk derailing international climate targets agreed to only last year.

“That’s the battle we’re in right now,” said Jennifer Morgan, the ambassador at large for climate change in the German Foreign Ministry and a former president of Greenpeace International. “We’re in a moment of massive disruption due to the invasion, and that’s either a big risk or it’s a big opening on the climate.”

I really hate these people, they’re as cultist and horrible as any of the worst cults.

Pro-Lifers Should Worry More About Other Things Than Abortions Says *Checks Notes* Vatican

This is the same Vatican led by a Pope who seems more concerned with climate crisis (scam) than most other things, and seems to want to avoid pushing pro-life. First it was, in relationship to denying Nancy Pelosi communion

(Newsweek) However, Pope Francis, who is head of the Catholic Church, has previously urged bishops to tread softly on the issue of denying people the Eucharist—which Catholics consider the body of Jesus Christ—and advised the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops against adopting a policy that would have denied communion to President Joe Biden.

On September 15, 2021, Francis was asked about the issue of bishops denying pro-abortion politicians the right to participate in Communion and said he had never refused the Eucharist to anyone.

“What should a shepherd do? Be a shepherd and not going around condemning or not condemning,” the pope said.

So, talk softly and don’t talk too much about abortion. But

(Crux) Two days after Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was barred from receiving communion in San Francisco over her support for abortion rights, Pope Francis offered support to a pro-life demonstration, saying that life is a gift from God.

On Sunday, Francis thanked those who took part in Scegliamo la Vita (Let’s Choose Life), Saturday’s march and pro-life demonstration in Rome, applauding participants for “your commitment in favor of life and in defense of conscientious objection, the exercise of which is often attempted to be restricted.”

The pope said that “unfortunately,” in recent years “there has been a shift in the common mentality, and today we are increasingly inclined to think that life is an asset at our total disposal, which we can choose to manipulate, give birth to or let die as we please, as the exclusive outcome of an individual choice.”

And now, in the wake of Dobbs killing of Roe v Wade

(Insider) The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life has praised the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade which protected abortion rights for women.

But, the Pope himself? He celebrated, but, didn’t actually mention the end of Roe. Which is followed by Wokeness!

Pro-life is not just opposing abortion, Vatican says after U.S. ruling

Anti-abortion activists should be concerned with other issues that can threaten life, such as easy access to guns, poverty and rising maternity mortality rates, the Vatican’s editorial director said on Saturday.

In a media editorial on the United States Supreme Court’s ruling to end the constitutional right to abortion, Andrea Tornielli said those who oppose abortion could not pick and choose pro-life issues.

“Being for life, always, for example, means being concerned if the mortality rates of women due to motherhood increase,” he wrote.

He cited statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing a rise in maternity mortality rates overall and that the rate was nearly three times higher for black women.

You’d think they could just give the Wokeness a break and just celebrate the end of Roe.

Young Warmists Want Greenwich To Declare Climate Emergency

Students Ask Greenwich Selectmen To Declare Climate Change Emergency

GREENWICH, CT — In an effort to demand action on climate change both locally and at the state level, a group of residents went before the Greenwich Board of Selectmen this week to ask the town to adopt a resolution that would declare a climate change emergency.

Brought forth by the Greenwich Environmental Advocacy Group, the declaration would provide a foundation for the town to develop future priorities, policies, plans, budgets and actions related to climate change.

Looks like an astroturfed group backed by big money

The resolution calls for the town and department heads, committees and commissions to work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and “advocate for coordinated climate action at the municipal, regional, state and federal levels to restore a safe and sustainable climate for all living beings on earth.”

The board did not vote on the resolution since this was a first-read of the agenda item. They are expected to circle back in two weeks.

Isabelle Harper, a graduating senior at Greenwich High School, presented the item to the selectmen.

“In the coming decades, scientists have predicted increasingly destructive models of how the global climate is going to change if we continue with the status quo,” Harper said. “This future is a scary future for people my age, and that is why we need to fight for our lives to stop suffocating ourselves from our own pollution. This is an emergency for us; our entire generation’s future hangs in the balance of decisions like this one we’re asking you to make.”

The kiddies have been indoctrinated into the doomy Cult of Climastrology. The board should determine that those calling for action should be the first to practice it. No more fossil fueled school buses. No driving their own fossil fueled vehicles to school. No fossil fueled vehicles dropping the kiddies off will be allowed anywhere close to schools. No meat allowed at school. No charging smartphones at school, because that uses electricity. No AC at school, and heat shall be kept no higher than 65. That would be a good start, see how the kids like it.

Consumer sentiment falls to record low in June as inflation persists

Biden Brain SuckerConsumer sentiment hit a record low in June as Americans continued to face elevated prices for gas, food, and other goods and services.

The University of Michigan’s closely watched Surveys of Consumers consumer sentiment index was revised lower to 50.0 in the final June survey.

This marked the lowest level on record in data for the series, which spans back to the mid-1970s. In the preliminary monthly survey, the index registered 50.2.

Inflation, which last increased at the fastest pace in more than 40 years as of May, remained a pressing concern and a key contributor to the further erosion in sentiment.

Well, hey, it’s an historic administration, right? Might as well have historic numbers

“About 79% of consumers expected bad times in the year ahead for business conditions, the highest since 2009,” Hsu added. “Inflation continued to be of paramount concern to consumers; 47% of consumers blamed inflation for eroding their living standards, just one point shy of the all-time high last reached during the Great Recession.”

Hey, who was vice president during that time period?

The University of Michigan’s print also came following a number of other reports pointing to a deterioration in key parts of the US economy and a slide in sentiment among businesses. The preliminary S&P Global Composite Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for June came in at 51.2, the weakest level since January, and S&P’s manufacturing output index slid into contractionary territory and a two-year low.

(MoneyWise) However, some experts say that halting the federal gas tax — which currently sits at 18.4 cents per gallon — might not be as beneficial as you’d think and are calling for other forms of relief.

“The average adult in the U.S. uses about one gallon of gasoline per day,” says Jay Zagorsky, senior lecturer in markets, public policy and law at Boston University.

“If President Biden is able to push through a gas tax holiday, the typical adult will save a bit less than $6 a month. In a time when inflation is over 8%, an extra $6 will not make much difference.”

I can get a Bojangles chicken biscuit combo once a month….would have to pony up some change for the tax, though.

The White House acknowledges that a gas tax holiday will not relieve high costs on its own but may provide Americans some breathing room during the Russia-Ukraine war, which has crimped the global supply of oil.

$6 a month is breathing room? No wonder the consumer sentiment is so low.

De Haan suggests indirect relief would be the best approach and recommends sending out a $50 or $100 check that Americans don’t necessarily need to use toward gas. This could help alleviate inflationary pressures for everyone, not just motorists.

Um, no. That’s part of the reason we’re seeing inflation. It made sense when so many were out of work in 2020. It didn’t make sense when people could start working again in 2021.
