Democrats Are Racing To Explain Their “Historic” Bill Or Something

It should be very interesting to watch them attempt to explain how a bill called the Inflation Reduction Act does nothing to reduce the cost of food, energy, clothes, and other essential goods and services

Biden signs climate and health care bill. Now, Democrats race to explain its benefits

With a few strokes of a pen on Tuesday, President Joe Biden turned Democrats’ hard-fought climate and health care spending legislation from a bill into a law.

“It’s about showing the American people that democracy still works, notwithstanding all the talk of its demise,” Biden said. “This is a godsend.”

He called the package “one of the most significant laws in our history,” stressing more than once that every Republican in Congress opposed the bill.

Democrats now face the difficult task of explaining to Americans how they will benefit from the legislation – and when – before this fall’s midterm elections, with voting beginning as early as next month in some states.

All we’ve seen from just about every single article on the IRA is about it being about climate, taxes, and health. Look at the headline for the USA Today article.

The White House says it will launch a series of videos breaking down the legislation’s benefits to average Americans and encourage internet influencers to share content about the law on their social media channels.

Members of Biden’s Cabinet will visit nearly two dozen states in August to sell the plan to the public, the White House said in a Monday memo outlining its strategy.

How do you explain to the working and middle class voters that it does zero to help them with inflation? You might get a little relief on medicine pricing within a few years. That doesn’t really help when people are unable to afford many types of quality food. How do they explain the tax hikes, which will boomerang back on consumers and employees? Will any news outlet ask the tough question, which is “how will this reduce inflation?”

ABC News has a piece up about how it will save you, and includes this graphic from the calculator from the far left climate scam group Rewiring America

Ssshhhh: Climate Apocalypse Is A Secret Driver Of Inflation Or Something

I’ve seen this type of stuff before, but, not since Obama was president, and the media were trying to protect him

Climate change is a secret driver of inflation

Extreme weather worsened by climate change is a hidden cause of inflation, threatening to push up already high prices of everything from food and clothing to electronics.

Why it matters: Heavy rainfall, flooding, heat waves and droughts erode agriculture, infrastructure and workers’ ability to stay on the job — all of which lead to supply-chain breakdowns and worker shortages.

See, not just weather, which always happens, but, extreme weather because you refuse to pay your tithe to government for your bad behavior. The screed mentions a bunch of things, but, fails to provide any evidence than it is anything but natural climatic changes, which has occurred many a time. Such as

  • Dairy and meat prices in Europe are rising even higher as droughts zap lands meant for grazing and growing grain for feed.
  • In the U.S., wheat fields in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and cotton harvests in Texas have also been withering due to drought.

But, um, wait

Between the lines: Extreme weather is affecting both the supply and demand sides of the economy, Tamma Carleton, a professor of environmental economics at UC Santa Barbara, tells Axios.

  • Research hasn’t yet quantified the exact impact extreme weather has on inflation. Some changes, such as the price of agriculture, are easier to pin down, while others — such as worker productivity — are harder to detect.

So, they don’t really know? Surprise! They’re just deeming that it’s happening, because it’s a cult.

Credentialed Media Seem Surprised That GOP Would Turn The IRS Into Boogeymen

Seriously, how dare Republicans practice the art of Politics, using something like doubling the funding of the IRS which would mean doubling the number of employees! Sure, they won’t all be “agents”, they’ll be plenty of support staff, who can go through everyone’s tax returns, looking for the tiniest mistake. Think they’re really going to spend time on the rich, be it individuals or companies, who have lots of highly paid accountants and lawyers, or the average citizen/small business, who doesn’t?

IRS becomes GOP boogeyman ahead of midterms

spite houseAs Republicans rail against the FBI in the wake of last week’s search at Mar-a-Lago, they are also hyping the danger to voters from another three-letter federal agency: the IRS.

The GOP is warning that the $80 billion funding boost to the IRS included in Democrats’ tax, climate and health care package, which President Biden signed into law on Tuesday, will target middle-class Americans with an “army” of new enforcement agents.

The calls have become a key part of Republicans’ messaging ahead of this year’s midterm elections.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) released a video earlier this week that slams Democrats for expanding the IRS, arguing that it will harm everyday Americans despite Democrats’ insistence that the extra funding is intended to make sure wealthy taxpayers and corporations don’t stiff the government.

“Biden and Democrats are out-of-touch and do not care about the pain and suffering they are causing Americans. Democrats celebrate raising taxes on families during a recession they created and weaponizing the IRS to target small businesses and hardworking Americans,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement.

But, see, we’re supposed to take the word of Democrats that Bad Things will never happen when a federal agency full of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats are given more power and funding

Democrats, the Biden administration and various fact-checkers have pushed back on the claims. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a letter to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig that audit rates should not “rise relative to recent years for households making under $400,000 annually” and that new resources should not be directed to audits of families or businesses that fall below those levels. Yellen wrote that “enforcement resources will focus on high-end noncompliance.”

Remember, Democrats killed an amendment that would have stopped the IRS from going after people making less than $400k. The same Democrats said the bill was about reducing inflation, and it doesn’t do that at all (sidebar: had this convo IRL with a Trump Deranged coworker, asked him numerous times how the bill reduces inflation, couldn’t answer). Remember this about Obamacare?

But people with no pre-existing conditions like Vinson, a 60-year-old retired teacher, and Waschura, a 52-year-old self-employed engineer, are making up the difference.

“I was laughing at Boehner — until the mail came today,”

Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.

“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family’s pocket each year, that’s otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.”

“Of course, I want people to have health care,” Vinson said. “I just didn’t realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally.”

Can’t wait till the same Democrats defending the IRS realize they are the ones getting scrutinized by the IRS, getting audited, and paying the taxes.

Climate Cult Scientists Super Excited For Climate Scam Bill, Want Even More

Before they start yammering about wanting more, they should prove that they purchased EVs themselves, slapped solar panels on their homes, got them weatherized, and purchased all new appliances

Scientists welcome ‘enormous’ US climate bill — but call for stronger action

Several US agencies, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Department of Energy (DOE), will see a significant influx of cash from a massive climate and tax bill that US President Joe Biden signed on 16 August. Scientists around the world welcome the legislation, called the Inflation Reduction Act, which pledges US$369 billion in climate investments over the next decade — while acknowledging that more work is needed to counter global warming. (big snip)

Despite their excitement over the legislation, scientists say the United States must do more. Even if all nations hit their climate targets, the global temperature will rise above the 1.5 °C mark, says Roxy Matthew Koll, a climate scientist at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune.

Just like the temperature has done several times during the Holocene, despite CO2 being below the “safe” zone of 350ppm

Mohamed Adow, a climate-policy expert at Power Shift Africa, a think tank based in Nairobi, says the United States needs to take responsibility for its historical emissions and help to deliver the climate finance promised to poorer nations in the Paris accord. Rich nations pledged to give $100 billion a year until 2025 to poorer ones, but the money has not materialized. “That’s what we need to see for a real jump in progress on the global stage,” he says.

Looks more like a shakedown, demanding money from other nations with no strings attached

Whether the legislation will build goodwill among lower-income nations ahead of the next international climate summit, to be held in Egypt in November, is unclear, Sengupta says. “Some countries may view this bill as long overdue and as the bare minimum on the part of the US.”

And, it will get annihilated if a Republican wins the White House in 2024 and keeps the House and Senate. Speaking of the IRA

How the Huge New US Climate Bill Will Save You Money

TODAY PRESIDENT JOE Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act, a massive bill that represents the biggest investment in climate action in US history. It puts nearly $400 billion toward promoting domestic production of clean energy technology and generally retrofitting America to survive climate change. If all goes to plan, the act would slash US emissions by 40 percent by the year 2030.

In the immortal words of Uncle Sam, the bill screams: “I Want You” … to fight a war against climate change. The bill is packed with tax credits and rebates for Americans to buy electric vehicles (EVs), install heat pumps and better insulation, and slap solar panels on their roofs. We’re talking thousands upon thousands of dollars per household. In turn, all that extra investment in green technologies should juice the market, further accelerating the transition to a cleaner economy.

Spend a lot of money to save a little money, but, won’t do anything about inflation

First off, a tax credit isn’t the same as a tax deduction—it’s even better. With the latter you could reduce your taxable income, say, from $65,000 to $60,000. That means the government doesn’t take its cut of that $5,000. A tax credit, by contrast, would be you getting that full $5,000 back. So if you owe the government $10,000 after filing taxes, and you’ve got a credit for $5,000, you only end up paying $5,000.

How many middle class and working class folks owe the IRS that much money? Where it gets interesting is “If you owe the IRS $1000, or, were already getting a refund of $600, will the IRS give you that $5000? Will you get back $4000/$5700?” Most likely, you’d have the $1,000 wiped out, and get nothing else.

The Inflation Reduction Act provides tax credits for energy-efficient home improvements: new windows, doors, insulation, water heaters. So when you file your taxes, you get discounts on what you owe the feds. “Let’s say you spend $1,000 on insulation—you would be able to get a tax credit of 30 percent of that,” says Evans. “So a $300 tax credit, which goes directly against what you owe in taxes. So at the end of the year, you owe $5,000 in taxes, you knock that $300 off, and you only owe $4,700.”

Most people do not owed taxes like that. This is all for the wealthy.

A notable exception to the Inflation Reduction Act’s $1,200 annual limit on tax credits is with heat pumps, which you can get $2,000 for. These appliances are supremely powerful tools in fighting climate change: Instead of burning gas like a traditional furnace, they use electricity to extract heat from outdoor air and pump it inside, or extract heat from indoor air and pump it outside. “It’s a really efficient way of moving heat from one place to another,” says Lowell Ungar, director of federal policy at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. “It’s a reversible air conditioner, basically, for when you need to cool the home.”

You spend at least $8000 for the whole installation of a heat pump. You owe $500 in taxes. You now do not owe that $500 and shelled out $7500. Hooray?

Federal Judge Restores North Carolina’s 20 Week Abortion Ban

This has made the death merchants very upset, as they want the ability to kill the unborn at any time for any reason with no consequences

Judge reinstates North Carolina’s 20-week abortion ban

Abortions in North Carolina are no longer legal after 20 weeks of pregnancy, a federal judge ruled Wednesday, eroding protections in one of the South’s few remaining safe havens for reproductive freedom.

U.S. District Judge William Osteen reinstated an unenforced 20-week abortion ban, with exceptions for urgent medical emergencies, after he said the June U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade erased the legal foundation for his 2019 ruling that placed an injunction on the 1973 state law.

His decision defies the recommendations of all named parties in the 2019 case, including doctors, district attorneys and the attorney general’s office, who earlier this month filed briefs requesting he let the injunction stand.

“Neither this court, nor the public, nor counsel, nor providers have the right to ignore the rule of law as determined by the Supreme Court,” wrote Osteen, who was appointed to the court by Republican President George W. Bush.

Defied recommendation, eh? What of all the doctors, district attorneys, lawmakers, and citizens who were against it? Regardless, it was a duly passed piece of legislation signed into law by a duly elected governor, which now has more force of law with the Dobbs decision. Seriously, what’s the problem, abortionistas? Around 50% of abortions occur using the abortion pill, which has to be taken by 10 weeks. Certainly, one can figure out within 20 weeks that they do not want the baby, right? That’s almost 5 months. Do the Democrats really want argue for abortion for any reason after 20 weeks?

Osteen’s ruling adds fuel to an already contentious midterm election year after the Supreme Court ruling propelled state-level politics into the spotlight. North Carolina Republicans in November will aim to clinch the five additional seats they need for a veto-proof supermajority in the state legislature as Democrats stave off their challenges to preserve Cooper’s power. (snip)

Cooper and other Democrats have already elevated abortion access as a key campaign issue. The governor signed an executive order on July 6 shielding out-of-state abortion patients from extradition and prohibiting state agencies under his control from aiding other states’ prosecutions of those who travel for the procedure.

“Denying women necessary medical care in extreme and threatening situations, even if rare, is fundamentally wrong, and we cannot let politicians mislead people about the real-world implications of this harmful law,” Cooper said Wednesday.

Yes, yes they do. It’s not a good look, and they might find out that even many Democrats are not in favor of late term abortion. If they want to run on abortion on demand up to the week of birth while most North Carolinians are concerned with high food, energy, clothes, etc prices, go for it. See how that works out.

“Abortions after 20 weeks are rare, but it’s still incredibly important that people have access to this care,” Alison Kiser, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic said. “The two primary reasons people need abortion care later in pregnancy is because they’ve received new medical information or, and ever more so now, they’re facing barriers that have delayed their care.”

In other words, because they simply decided they no longer want the baby, not for actual medical reasons. Only about 6% are to save the life of the mother. And because they might find out the baby has some defects

Restrictive abortion laws are limiting the options parents have after receiving genetic test results, experts say

During a pregnancy, women are offered prenatal genetic screening and diagnostic testing to determine whether a fetus is healthy or has certain genetic disorders or anomalies.

This information can help patients and their doctors prepare for the pregnancy. But some opt out of such testing, believing that babies should be born regardless of potential abnormalities.

For those who do choose to undergo such testing, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and genetic counselors usually work closely with the pregnant person or couple to explain in detail what the results mean for a birth, for mother and child, if a genetic disorder or fetal anomaly is detected. These health care providers can also provide the pregnant person or couple with guidance on what options are available to them after a diagnosis, which can include aborting a pregnancy. That option, however, is limited or no longer available to women in many U.S. states.

You’re welcome to read the rest of the article, but, here’s the point: the mother may find out that it has some sort of “defect”, such as Down Syndrome, and determine to kill it in the womb. Eugenics. Because these people are ghouls.

EU Looks To Create Climate Crisis (scam) Civilian Protection Force

You’d think with the history of central Europe less than a 100 years ago they’d be thinking pretty darned hard about this being a Bad Idea

‘Any Excuse to Grab More Power’: EU Wants a Centralised ‘Civil Protection Force’ to Fight Climate Change

A senior Eurocrat has called for a “Civil Protection Force” directly under the control of Brussels to be established to fight the impact of climate change.

EU crisis management tsar has called for the creation of a “Civil Protection Force” directly under Brussels control for the ostensive purpose of fighting the impact of climate change.

The suggestion has prompted one MEP to accuse Brussels of “using any excuse to grab more power”, with the union’s green agenda policy having already resulted in chaotic scenes in the likes of the Netherlands.

Some might remember when the European Union was created. Have to go back to the 1950’s, when it was about steel and coal companies banding together for commerce, then some countries establishing tighter political and economic bonds, to bring Europe closer, while each country kept it’s autonomy. And then Brussels kept taking more and more and more power, usurping that of each nation, taking away their sovereignty, with almost no pushback or restraint. Especially over the past 25-30 years

According to a report by POLITICO, crisis management chief Janez Lenarcic has claimed that the impact climate change is having on EU member states is increasing, something which he believes now mandates intervention from Brussels.

“…we have a growing sense that more Europe is needed in civil protection,” Lenarcic said while suggesting that EU treaties should be changed so as to hand Brussels the power to establish such a force that would be able to provide this “protection”.

What could possibly go wrong?

Such a sentiment however has been outright rejected by critics however, with one elected representative within the European Parliament, Cristian Terhes MEP, warning Breitbart Europe that the EU’s “unelected bureaucrats are using any excuse to grab more power”.

“These European bureaucrats are not the solution, but the cause of many problems that the EU is facing, and the deeply damaging energy crisis is just a proof of that,” Terhes said, emphasising that EU bigwigs “don’t want to be accountable to the people”.

“Handing to these irresponsible and unaccountable bureaucrats even more power would just simply be irresponsible,” the European Conservatives and Reformists Group politician continued.

Funny how the elites always want more power going to Government to deal with ‘climate change’, eh? It’s almost like this is political, not a science.

Brandon Tells Us About The IRA, Forgetting About Inflation Reduction

Most likely, one of Biden’s people wrote it, and he has zero idea, being back in Delaware again

3 things everyone should know about the Inflation Reduction Act

Today, I signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law — one of the most significant laws in recent history. With this law, the American people won and special interests lost. The Inflation Reduction Act does so many things that so many of us have fought to make happen for years and years.

There are three things everyone should know about the Inflation Reduction Act. First, we are lowering costs for working families.

How?

We are giving Medicare the power to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices. Seniors will pay less for their prescription drugs. The law caps their prescription drug out-of-pocket costs at $2,000 a year — no matter how many prescriptions they have. The big drug companies spent nearly $100 million to beat this law. We prevailed.

More BS about government run healthcare and stuff that you’ve already ready about many times. Then the climate scam stuff, which is really just going to hook up the upper upper middle class and rich folks (and China). We get some whining about Republicans, of course. Something about taxing the hell out of corporations and rich folks, who will either pass on the costs or just take their money elsewhere

Third, we demonstrated that government can work for working families.

There are those who hold a dark and despairing view of this country. Too often, we hand the biggest microphone to the critics and the cynics who delight in declaring defeat. We confuse noise with substance and obstacles with the end.

You know what was missing? How he plans to lower costs for working families. Reducing inflation. Read the whole thing. Not that long. The President of the USA cannot even say how his inflation reduction legislation is going to reduce costs on things like food, clothes, and energy, among others. It’s a pure scam. There are 3 things everyone should know about the Inflation Reduction Act:

  1. It doesn’t reduce inflation.
  2. It doesn’t reduce the temperature of the earth.
  3. It increases the size of government by at least 87,000 employees.

Have fun.

Apparently, It’s Time To Scaremonger The West Coast On Tsunami Doom

Seriously, would it be so bad if we lost the left wing Democratic Party run hellholes on the West Coast?

How West Coast residents should prepare for the threat of a tsunami

When most people hear the word “tsunami,” they may imagine a massive wave, but that’s actually a misconception that researchers in Washington state are trying to correct. Since the state’s coastline is at risk of being hit with a devastating tsunami following an earthquake of magnitude 7.5, the state is trying to educate the public about what it actually would be like.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources released a wave simulation study in July and shared a bit of startling news: a tsunami in Puget Sound could engulf Seattle’s shoreline, leaving it under more than 20 feet of water within minutes.

Several videos released along with the study illustrate how an earthquake-triggered tsunami would most likely cause water to inundate the coastal areas around Seattle. From land, a tsunami functions and looks more like a storm surge from a hurricane than a tidal wave.

In the U.S. there are over 90 million people living in coastal counties, including more than 30 million on the West Coast. While tsunamis big enough to flood North America are rare, the data from the Washington study concludes that tsunami waves could reach the shoreline in fewer than three minutes in many areas of western Seattle, including parts of Bainbridge Island, Elliott Bay and Alki Point. The tsunami inundation and strong currents have the potential to continue for more than three hours from the start of the earthquake, according to the simulation.

This article is not the only one out there pushing Doom, which, let’s be honest, the news media has to do periodically.

The West Coast is considered to be at a high to very high risk for these phenomena because of tectonic plates that meet in this part of the country. Large earthquakes in these areas can cause the seafloor to rise and spark a tsunami. According to the National Weather Service, the U.S.’s most damaging tsunami was caused by the Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964, which was a magnitude 9.2. A 7.5 earthquake striking in the area is very unlikely in any given year, but it is possible.

The piece spends a lot of paragraphs on tsunamis, how they happen, the damage they can and have caused, but, can you guess why this interested me?

Some scientists and geologists believe climate change plays a role in these potentially devastating disasters, but mostly in Alaska, where melting glaciers are a real threat.

“As global warming continues to thaw glaciers and permafrost, landslide-created tsunamis are emerging as a greater threat — not just in Alaska, but in places like British Columbia and Norway,” said Woods Hole Research Center scientist Anna Liljedahl in a 2020 statement released by the state of Alaska.

How many will think Other People driving fossil fueled vehicles are responsible for earthquake created ones? The ones from thawing, which happens periodically in the Holocene, are localized. Ones like the Indonesian and Japanese tsunamis from the massive earthquakes cover a huge area. The Japanese one sent waves to California. Madagascar got some from the Indonesian. And, yes, the climate cult does link them to ‘climate change’. It’s a cult, not a science.
