Biden sets up toothless ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ to combat midterm fake news headed by Russia ‘expert’ who called Hunter’s laptop a ‘Trump campaign product’ and spoke out AGAINST free speech

President Biden has set up a toothless ‘disinformation’ board headed-up by a woke so-called expert who’s against free speech and tried to pour cold water on the Hunter laptop scandal.

Nina Jankowicz will head The Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board as executive director, Politico Playbook reported Wednesday morning.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandor Mayorkas did not disclose any powers that would be granted to the dystopian-sounding board while addressing lawmakers on Wednesday.

He explained that the board would work to tackle disinformation ahead of the November midterms, particularly in Hispanic communities.

But Mayorkas did say that the new board would come under the Biden-era Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), meaning it would have no powers to crack down on disinformation and will instead try to combat it by throwing money at what it sees as problems.

Yes, it is rather dystopian. Sounds like something China or Russia would come up with. The Government has no Constitutional authority to regulate free speech. Have these people read the 1st Amendment?

The (CP3) program provides communities with resources and tools to help prevent individuals from radicalizing to violence. Last year, CP3 awarded about $20 million in grants through its Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program.

Yeah, most of the violence came from the same people voting Democrat.

Jankowicz also suggested last week that she opposes the The First Amendment because she thinks it is bad for ‘marginalized communities’ and called Elon Musk a ‘free speech absolutist’ because he wants to make Twitter more open to all voices.

Shouldn’t someone in charge of a “board” like this need to be confirmed by Congress? The GOP is going to have quite a bit on their plate when investigating the Biden admin, including this bit of insanity. I wonder if any Free Speech group will sue over the creating of this board?

Good News, There’s Only Eight Years Left

Say, what happens in 8 years if Doom doesn’t arrive? Who gets held responsible for the scaremongering prognostications?

Earlier this month, more than 300 people in South Africa were killed as record rainfall washed away buildings and infrastructure in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province. A day earlier, dozens were killed in the Philippines after tropical storm Megi spurred landslides and floods.

The world is rapidly shifting — and the impact of human-caused climate change is increasingly evident.

“We’re in a very different place now from where we were even just a couple decades ago,” atmospheric physicist Alex Hall, director of the UCLA Center of Climate Science, told CBS News.

Just wondering, how does this compare to the previous Holocene warm periods? It’s rather important information to know for comparison. Further, there’s always going to be some sort of record rainfall, and putting buildings in areas means the water has nowhere to go, creating landslides.

This is why experts say carbon emissions must be addressed immediately. Carbon dioxide is the most abundant of the greenhouse gases — a set of gases that in large quantities create a sort of heavy blanket in the atmosphere that traps heat on Earth. In 2020, carbon dioxide accounted for roughly 79% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S., according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Failure to limit this gas over the next eight years, the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned, will bring about so much warming that the 2030s will bring “extreme events unprecedented in the observational record.”

And it’s a grim future in store if we don’t take action swiftly.

Grim! It’s so grim that almost no climate scientists have given up their fossil fueled travel, moved into tiny homes, etc and so on. And, what will they say when Doom doesn’t arrive in 2030?

Before Washington’s ‘Nerd Prom,’ Lots of Risk-Benefit Calculation

Vice President Kamala Harris’s Covid-19 diagnosis is raising questions that some in the nation’s capital wish would remain unspoken: Is it safe for President Biden to attend the so-called nerd prom, otherwise known as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner? Should the dinner even be held?

The flashy event, at which journalists, politicians and policy wonks mingle with celebrities, is returning in person this Saturday after a two-year absence because of the pandemic. It will be the first time a president has attended since 2016. Expected attendance: 2,600.

As the nation lurches out of the acute phase of the pandemic and into what some are calling the new normal, the dinner — like so much of American life — is prompting a good deal of risk-benefit calculation. Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Mr. Biden’s top medical adviser for the coronavirus, said on Tuesday that he had decided not to attend “because of my individual assessment of my personal risk.”

Why would Fauci be invited in the first place? Oh, right, he’s a celebrity.

But Mr. Biden, who at 79 is two years younger than Mr. Fauci, will be there, as will his wife, Dr. Jill Biden. The White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, told reporters on Tuesday that Ms. Harris’s diagnosis had not changed the president’s thinking about the dinner, which she described as an opportunity to “talk about the importance of journalism in the world.”

And neither Brandon nor Jill will be masked up, despite wanted Other people to wear masks on airplanes, buses, trains, and in transit centers….hey, I wonder, was Joe wearing a mask while he flew on Air Force 1? Funny, if you think about it, how we weren’t seeing any photos from any journalist or the White House photographers of Joe on AF1 since he took office.

Still, there is an uneasy feeling here — and a worry that maybe a gathering of 2,600 people, including journalists and politicians who have spent more than two years warning about the dangers of the pandemic may not be the best look.

“Well, there is a question of whether it’s EVER appropriate to engage in an exercise in gaudy, celebrity-drenched self-adulation,” David Axelrod, a Democratic strategist who served as a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, wrote in an email, “but that’s a separate question.”

However, Mr. Axelrod added, “The country plainly is eager to move on and people are regularly gathering in public places — stadiums, theaters, restaurants — and, as a political matter, I’m sure the president is eager to embrace the sense that the siege is largely behind us.”

Yeah, well, we’ve seen this already, with all the big wigs screeching to mask up, and forcing people, including children, to mask up, not wearing their masks, like, say, at the Super Bowl. Joe wore his mask sometime and at other times not. In the few occasions he gave a speech indoors or something he would take it off, in contradiction of his own executive order for masking in federal buildings.

Citing advice from Dr. Fauci, who suggested same-day testing in addition to a vaccination requirement when asked if large-scale events should proceed, Mr. Portnoy said guests would be required to provide proof of vaccination and a same-day negative antigen test via Bindle, a verification app.

He also added some advice of his own, telling members that if they were eligible for a fourth dose of vaccine, they should consider getting one.

Expect More Disasters, U.N. Warns, as Climate Change Worsens Everything From Droughts to Economic Meltdowns

A disaster-weary globe will be hit harder in the coming years by even more catastrophes colliding in an interconnected world, a United Nations report issued Monday says.

If current trends continue the world will go from around 400 disasters per year in 2015 to an onslaught of about 560 catastrophes a year by 2030, the scientific report by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction said. By comparison from 1970 to 2000, the world suffered just 90 to 100 medium to large scale disasters a year, the report said.

The number of extreme heat waves in 2030 will be three times what it was in 2001 and there will be 30% more droughts, the report predicted. It’s not just natural disasters amplified by climate change, it’s COVID-19, economic meltdowns and food shortages. Climate change has a huge footprint in the number of disasters, report authors said.

Did they just link Wuhan Flu to ‘climate change’? When any person who’s not an idiot knows it came from a lab. Certainly they wouldn’t link natural disasters, right?

Not every hurricane or earthquake has to turn into a disaster, Mizutori said. A lot of damage is avoided with planning and prevention.

Yup, linking earthquakes to people refusing to give up eating meat and pay carbon taxes.

That’s because both COVID-19 and climate change disasters have come to places that didn’t used to get them, like tropical cyclones hitting Mozambique, Mizutori said. It’s also the way disasters interact with each other, compounding damage, like wildfires plus heatwaves or a war in Ukraine plus food and fuel shortages, Pulwarty said.

Yup, linking the Chinese coronavirus. Cultists.

“In a world of distrust and misinformation, this is a key to moving forward,” said University of South Carolina Hazards Vulnerability and Resilience Institute Co-Director Susan Cutter, who wasn’t part of the report. “We can move forward to reduce the underlying drivers of risk: Inequality, poverty and most significantly climate change.”

And had to throw in “misinformation”, along with other political things. And, yes, the report, if you check the first link in the first excerpt, mentions volcanoes, landslides, extreme cold temperatures, and all storms to the actions of mankind. Because a cult

So, I’m guessing that the volcano that was popping off in the Canary Islands recently was not natural in the mind of a climate cult member? Loony tunes. BTW, the report is all about “transforming governance for a resilient future.” Not ominous at all.

And, yes, lots of “news” outlets are pimping this report.

Surprise: Joe Manchin’s Approval Rating Skyrockets

Sen. Joe Manchin’s West Virginia approval rating skyrockets during Biden’s term, Morning Consult poll finds

Sen. Joe Manchin’s approval rating has soared in his home state of West Virginia compared to last year, a recent poll by Morning Consult shows. Manchin’s popularity jump comes after months of blocking of White House priorities.

According to the poll, 57% of voters approve of Manchin, compared to 40% in the first quarter of 2021. His approval rating saw the biggest improvement of any senator within the first quarter of this year.

Republicans, especially, found a lot to like about Manchin. According to the poll, his approval rating nearly doubled among those voters to 69% since the first quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s approval rating has slid. In a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University in January only 33% of people who took the survey approved the president’s performance, while 53% did not.

Too many elected officials simply want to stick with the Big Agenda of their party, rather than considering the wants and needs of the people who voted them in, along with the people who voted for the Other Guy. Manchin seems concerned with the needs and wants of West Virginia, hence the approval rating bump. Biden seems concerned with his own agenda, regardless of it making no sense and hurting American citizens.

I’ll say it again: it’s why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed so that Senators are appointed by the state legislatures, so that they are beholden to their states. Period.

Doesn’t mean Manchin is a great guy. He still has quite a few left leaning positions, but, he’s just not a wackadoodle leftist nutjob.

Climate Cultist Who Immolated Himself Highlights Darker Side Of “Climate Grief”

How an activist’s self-immolation exposed the dark reality of ‘climate grief

A climate change activist who set himself on fire in an apparent act of protest against inadequate climate change policies in the U.S. died over the weekend.

Wynn Bruce, 50, self-immolated in front of the Supreme Court on Friday, which was Earth Day. He died from his injuries Saturday.

Kritee Kanko, a climate scientist who described herself as Bruce’s friend, tweeted Sunday that he died “to bring attention to climate crisis.” She said he had been planning the act for at least a year.

A year? That’s pretty disturbing. Did no one else notice the climate cult crazy?

Bruce’s death followed a cascade of unnerving climate reports. Though we don’t know what other factors may have played a role in Bruce’s decision, his death prompted discussions regarding the deep impact the perpetual climate crisis can have on people’s psyche. (snip)

Experts in recent years have sounded the alarm on “climate grief.” The phenomenon was explained in an NBC News report in 2018:

The increasing visibility of climate change, combined with bleak scientific reports and rising carbon dioxide emissions, is taking a toll on mental health, especially among young people, who are increasingly losing hope for their future. Experts call it “climate grief,” depression, anxiety and mourning over climate change.

Psychology experts have long recognized the role climate plays in mental health. A 2017 report from the American Psychological Association found “the psychological responses to climate change, such as conflict avoidance, fatalism, fear, helplessness, and resignation are growing.”(snip)

It’s possible there were many contributing factors that led to Bruce’s death. But we can’t rule out that he could be a tragic example of climate fatalism.

Perhaps the media could tone down their “we’re completely doomed” schtick, which drives people to feel grief to the point where they spend a year planning to set themselves on fire.

Hot Take: Musk Buying Twitter Means The End Of #BlackTwitter

There have been plenty of seriously scorching Hot Takes with Elon Musk buying Twitter. Lots of teeth gnashing, threats to leave Twitter, and so much more. Employees are losing their minds, you know, ones who didn’t own it before and do not own it now, ones hired to do a job, not run the company. Here’s one that’s certainly at the top of the hill

It’s all rather disturbing and yet somehow fitting in these doublespeak-steeped times.

Elon Musk, the founder of a company that California is suing for allegedly silencing thousands of Black employees who complained about racism, is buying a company that has given millions of Black people a megaphone-like voice to complain about racism.

And the California-hating billionaire insists he’s doing it all to protect free speech.

“Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said Monday, announcing that he had succeeded in taking over the San Francisco-based social media company for $44 billion.

Yes, as well as debating some really stupid stuff, along with lots of other things, like sports, music, arts, etc. It’s basically a chat room.

Consider this the beginning of the end of #BlackTwitter.

Not of Black people on Twitter but of #BlackTwitter — the community of millions that figured out how to turn a nascent social media platform into an indispensable tool for real-world activism, political power and change.

Huh? The column points out all the hashtags and movements from black twitter, which are apparently real world stuff, you know

On Monday, the mood on #BlackTwitter was neither magical nor joyful.

“There goes #BlackTwitter — new owners will call it CRT and ban it.”

“Um… #BlackTwitter we need to schedule a meeting ASAP! Where we meeting up when we leave Twitter?”

“So, where’s the back of Twitter? Asking for #BlackTwitter”

“It was nice getting to know you all. Especially everyone on #BlackTwitter. Now a white South African man owns it. Bye Y’all. #RIPTwitter”

Huh? They’ll have exactly the same free speech and ability to tweet. But, you know, it’s the 21st Century, and each new year means people are more apoplectic and doomy than the last. But, see, they’re worried about content moderation being reduced, and even allowing some people booted for Wrongthink, perhaps some who deserved it, those people accused of being white supremacists (some are, some are just accused because it’s easy to accuse and abuse), back on Twitter. People know they can ignore them, right? Can block and mute? They don’t have to follow.

Perhaps more troubling, conspiracy theories could become easier to find and share and, therefore, grow in complexity and number of believers.

We’ve already seen the effects of disinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and of QAnon, including the latest tall tales linking gender identity to pedophilia that are being echoed by reckless Republican politicians. What happens when those conspiracy theories, bolstered by more than a dash of white supremacy, escalate into violence? It happened once; it can surely happen again.

Oh, you mean like the coordinated violence we’ve seen from BLM and Antifa? If “groomer” is a conspiracy theory then why do we see tweets showing Dems are supporting teaching young children adult sexual issues?

#BlackTwitter also knows that, no, that’s not what free speech means, because Twitter is a company — soon to be privately held — and has no obligation under the 1st Amendment to allow racism, transphobia, homophobia or misogyny to percolate through its platform.

Under that definition, black twitter would be booted, because they are advocating racism and violence against white people. They haven’t, because the rules have been applied inconsistently.

“I don’t think that you’re going see the same sort of replication of a Twitter-like climate or #BlackTwitter on another platform. I don’t think you’ll ever get that lightning in a bottle back,” Clark said. “But I do think that you will see Black people doing what we have always done. And that is bend communication and other technologies to our needs and our will. And find ways to thrive in those various areas of the internet.”

Or, you can wait and see what happens. Which will most likely be no changes to black twitter. But, this is 2022, and people have to make themselves Victims before anything happens. They have to manufacture issues. They have to caterwaul. Complain.

The Next Step For Solving ‘Climate Change’ Is Forcing People Into EVs

Opinion: Our next step in solving climate change

st greta carWhen it comes to climate change, Connecticut has set ambitious goals. In 2008, we passed the Global Warming Solutions Act, which sets goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 45 percent below 2001 levels by 2030 and 80 percent below 2001 levels by 2050. The state is also a signatory of the United States Climate Alliance, which adheres to the goals set by the Paris Agreement, meaning our ultimate goal is net zero emissions by 2050.

We have already made significant progress towards that goal. As of 2018, statewide emissions were down 17.8 percent from 2001. However, one area where emissions have remained stubbornly high is the transportation sector. It has been the biggest emitter of greenhouse gasses in Connecticut every year since 1990. In 2018, the transportation sector emitted 15.8 million metric tons of carbon-dioxide equivalent, more than 50 percent of what the entire economy can emit if we are to reach our 2030 goal.

Senate Bill 4, which is currently awaiting a vote in the Connecticut State Senate, aims to address these emissions. The bill would expand funding for the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate program, which helps people buy new and used electric vehicles. This is critically needed, because there were only just over 17,000 passenger electric vehicles on the road in June 2021, estimates say that we will need 500,000 by 2030 to achieve our emissions goals.

That’s not small feet, 17k to 500k. You don’t get there in under 8 years without forcing people to purchase EVs. Rebates and such be damned, they’re still mostly not affordable. And, where is this money for the rebates, charging stations, etc, coming from? Expect taxes to go way up.

Senate Bill 4 will not solve all the environmental challenges facing Connecticut. But it is a meaningful step in the right direction, and one that we must take now. Climate change will be the defining challenge of the 21st century. We will either rise to the occasion and meet it within the next 30 or so years, or we will be remembered for centuries as the people who failed to prevent environmental catastrophe. Having only just come of age myself, I sometimes find it daunting to look ahead to a future shrouded under the specter of climate change. It is measures like Senate Bill 4 that give me hope for the future and convince me that we are, in fact, on the right path.

Let me know when you actually have to live in the real world. Especially when someone is getting a BA in Drama and Dramatics/Theater art.
