Civilization Ending Climate Crisis Is Knocking At The Door Or Something

To paraphrase Meghan Trainor, it’s all about the doom, ’bout the doom, no brightside

Civilization-ending climate change is knocking on the door — unless we act now

We are standing in an extinction event. Many of us started noticing it when the insects began to vanish in large numbers right after the turn of the century.

I’ll never forget the day the trucker called into my radio show. It was probably around 14 years ago, and he identified himself as a long-haul trucker who regularly ran a coast-to-coast route from the Southeast to the Pacific Northwest dozens of times a year.

“Used to be when I was driving through the southern part of the Midwest like I am right now,” he said, “I’d have to stop every few hours to clean the bugs off my windshield. It’s been three days since I’ve had to clean bugs off my windshield on this trip. There’s something spooky going on out here.” (snip)

A decade-and-a-half later, now living on the Columbia River in Portland, I haven’t seen more than a dozen swallows at a time in at least two years. The swarms of gnats, the mosquitoes, butterflies, lightning bugs, beetles and moths that marked spring and summer for most of my 70 years, from Michigan to Vermont to Georgia to Oregon, seem to have largely vanished.

The insect apocalypse is only a leading indicator of what is already a larger disaster for much of humanity and is now beginning to hit the wealthy world (the U.S. and Europe) hard.

Come on down here to NC. No problems with the bugs. But, if there are fewer, might it have more to do with land use and pesticides? No, no, it’s all ’bout the doom

The question now is whether we’ll let our current climate emergency get so far advanced it either wipes out the human race along with most life on the planet, produces such chaos it tears apart civilization or merely disrupts human life so severely it crashes governments around the world and stresses the ability of democracies like ours to continue to function.

Go for it. All you climate cultists should practice what you preach.

When a young street vendor in Tunisia set himself on fire in 2010 to protest the explosion in wheat prices there, his act of self-immolation touched off the Arab Spring, producing crisis and revolution in country after country in the region.

Egypt’s democracy fell to a military coup and is now a dictatorship. Tunisia experimented with democracy but just couldn’t withstand the pressure and is now on the verge of collapse. Libya has devolved into a series of neo-feudal city-states. Shen the refugees in Damascus began demanding government services like food and housing, the Assad government of Syria responded with a brutal crackdown that’s led to widespread death and destruction.

ISIS grew out of this climate change crisis as much as it did out of the Bush-Cheney military interventions in the region.

Lots more Doom, up to

Local climate change brought down the Mayans, long before the conquering Spanish arrived. Scientists estimate that “annual rainfall must have fallen by around 50% on average and by up to 70% during peak drought conditions,” leading to the chaos, death and conflict with nearby peoples that ended the empire.

Um, that occurred during a Holocene cool period. Cultist Thom Hartman forgot to mention that part. Because Science or something. He also forgot to mention what we’re supposed to do. I guess force Everyone Else to give up the use of fossil fuels, as he railed against them throughout the article. No mention from Thom whether he’s given them up himself.

Similarly, a 300-year drought ended the Anasazi civilization about 1,000 years ago in what is now Colorado and Utah. Their descendants were scattered across the American Southwest; their society never recovered.

Even Europe was not immune. Between 1550 and 1660 the “Little Ice Age” destroyed crops leading to famine, disease, widespread movement of climate refugees and multiple wars.

But these were all local events. What we’re now looking at is global.

Anasazi was during a warm period. What caused that? No fossil fueled vehicles then. And both were world wide. But, by saying these were all “local events” climate cultists can push their doomsday cult. Because, you know, science.

A Doomsday COVID Variant May Be Possibly Coming Or Something

Gotta keep the Fear Porn going, you know. Have to provide reasons to keep the government control high

A Doomsday COVID Variant Worse Than Delta and Lambda May Be Coming, Scientists Say

Scientists keep underestimating the coronavirus. In the beginning of the pandemic, they said mutated versions of the virus wouldn’t be much of a problem—until the more-infectious Alpha caused a spike in cases last fall. Then Beta made young people sicker and Gamma reinfected those who’d already recovered from COVID-19. Still, by March, as the winter surge in the U.S. receded, some epidemiologists were cautiously optimistic that the rapid vaccine rollout would soon tame the variants and cause the pandemic to wind down. (snip)

Delta, like most of the other variants, blindsided us, worsening and extending the pandemic. When the damage from Delta starts to subside, what other variants will be lurking just behind it to pull us back down again? The World Health Organization is already keeping an eye on several: Eta, which is now in several countries; Kappa, which arose in India; Iota, which first popped up in New York City—and especially Lambda, which has torn through Peru and shows signs of having unusual success in infecting fully vaccinated people, according to one early study. It has already spread to Argentina, Chile, Ecuador as well as Texas and South Carolina.

It’s too soon to say whether Lambda will turn out to be the next big, bad thing that COVID-19 unleashes on us. But it’s a good time to wonder: Just how destructive can these variants get? Will future variants expand their attack from the lungs to the brain, the heart and other organs? Will they take a page from HIV and trick people into thinking they’ve recovered, only to make them sick later? Is there a Doomsday variant out there that shrugs off vaccines, spreads like wildfire and leaves more of its victims much sicker than anything we’ve yet seen?

And wondering allows government to implement all sorts of draconian restrictions and controls on citizens. Oh, hey, perhaps we should be looking hard at the work done at the Wuhan institute, which was provided lots of support, and cover, by Fauci. Does a normal virus act like this, creating so many variants so quickly?

If we do not all get vaccinated, the next Covid-19 variant is just around the corner, expert says

Efforts to get more Americans vaccinated against Covid-19 are growing more urgent as an expert warns that if vaccination rates don’t increase, the dangerous Delta variant could continue to evolve.

“The next variant is just around the corner, if we do not all get vaccinated,” Adm. Brett Giroir, the former coronavirus testing czar under Pres. Trump, told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

Fear Porn Theater. Speaking of theater

Here in North Carolina

Cooper: NC focused on vaccinations, not new pandemic-related mandates

Gov. Roy Cooper dismissed questions Wednesday about the possibility of a new state mask mandate or business shutdowns amid a surge in coronavirus cases statewide.

Cooper probably realizes that there a lot of people who will no longer abide by restrictions, and, just as important, instituting all sorts of mandates and restrictions will harm the push to get North Carolinians vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 19% of small business say they will require the vaccine. I’d expect that number to grow. The Pentagon is going to mandate that all service personnel be vaccinated. How many will refuse and leave the military? How many will refuse to sign up? Los Angeles is considering a mandate requiring all people to be vaccinated for indoors activity. 19 Democrats are demanding the Capitol physician to mandate vaccination for Congress. And more and more and more.

Sleepy Joe To Announce Push For Half Of Vehicles To Be Net Zero By 2030

Will the U.S. government start being the ones making vehicles? The exact main point of the Socialist model for Politics 101 is that the government is heavily involved in all economic matters, up to and including owning the means of production. Congress will need to mandate this, though, Joe could totally mess up production by increasing the CAFE standards to such a high level that automakers will have to produce EVs and pay fines and fees and such. And your price of purchasing a vehicle will skyrocket

Biden to announce he wants half of all new vehicles at zero emissions by 2030

Electric vehiclePresident Biden will sign an executive order on Thursday calling for half of all U.S. car sales to be zero-emission vehicles by 2030.

Senior administration officials said in a briefing for reporters that the order is a part of Biden’s broader “Build Back Better” initiative and will bolster infrastructure, save consumers money, and tackle the climate crisis.

The order will further initiate the development of “long-term fuel efficiency and emission standards” that will cut pollution and allegedly save consumers costs at the pump.

The officials said the standards will apply to not only “light-duty vehicles” like cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks, but also will also be established for “medium and heavy-duty vehicles.”

American automakers including Ford, GM, and Stellantis, along with the United Auto Workers union heads are expected to stand with the president at the White House as he signs the executive order.

“Today, Ford, GM, and Stellantis announce their shared aspiration to achieve sales of 40-50% of annual U.S. volumes of electric vehicles (battery electric, fuel cell, and plug-in hybrid vehicles) by 2030,” the automakers said in a joint statement. “Our recent product, technology, and investment announcements highlight our collective commitment to be leaders in the U.S. transition to electric vehicles.”

But, are people buying these? Do they actually want to buy them? Do they want to deal with all the inconveniences? Is this what they’re demanding? China Joe setting the standards and forcing compliance is not capitalism, it’s Marxism. It’s not a free, Classical Liberal system, it’s Socialism. You may “save” at the pump, but, the huge cost of EVs make them unaffordable to most people. Let’s say it all evens out in costs. Let’s say you spend $1,200 a year on gas (the actual average across all vehicles is $3K, but, let’s say you drive something like a Civic or Corolla now): are you enthused on paying that times 5 ($6K) up front for the vehicle? Turning a $24000 vehicle to $30000? And getting maybe 100-200 miles per charge? With fewer features? Will banks give the loans? Or require large down payments?

The automakers said that the goal to cut gasoline-based car sales by half in less than 10 years would be made possible through government-supported purchase incentives, charging networks, investment in continued research, and incentives for the expansion of electric vehicle manufacturing and supply chains.

Will the government be giving us all lots of money for down payment? Or directly to the manufacturers? A tax incentive of, say, $7000 doesn’t actually equate to a $7000 reduction in price. What about the mining of metals, transportation of the metals and completed parts, shipping the vehicles to dealers? Doesn’t that require fossil fuels? If Warmists are so enthused by EVs why aren’t they all buying them now? What’s that, most can’t afford them? Why isn’t Joe using a electric limo, with electric SUVs in his giant motorcade?

Politico: Biden’s Border Plan A Has Gone Bust, What’s Plan B?

So, what was plan A, total anarchy at the border? Mostly refusing to enforce duly passed federal immigration law? Handcuffing Customs and Border Protection, as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement and all other law enforcement attempting to stop illegals? Allowing illegals/migrants into the U.S. without any sort of medical tests, such as for COVID? And lots of other transmittable diseases? And then demanding that they all be given free citizenship so they become Democratic Party voters?

Biden’s vision for the border has gone bust. But what’s Plan B?

illegal alien DemocratPresident Joe Biden in March wrote off a spike in the number of migrants arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border as a result, at least in part, of winter months being the safest time to make the trek. “It happens every single, solitary year,” he said.

Six months into his term, Biden and his team are being proved wrong.

The number of migrants apprehended at the border isn’t going down this summer, even as the heat makes the journey to the U.S. more dangerous. Instead, it has reached a 21-year high — and there’s a record number of unaccompanied children arriving, too.

China Joe and his Comrades are enabling parents sending their children on long, dangerous treks through Central America, to be preyed upon by all sorts of bad people.

As the administration, local officials, border agents and nonprofit leaders grapple with the day-to-day logistical challenges of apprehending and processing or expelling thousands of migrants, U.S. officials and immigration experts say they have theories but no concrete explanations for why the increase is happening now. Many see it as a confluence of destabilizing conditions, some new, some long-standing: a still-raging pandemic, worsening economic crisis and devastation from past natural disasters.

It’s very simple: if you refuse to do anything to stop it, it will grow. If your child keeps throwing tomatoes at the neighbors house and you do nothing to stop it, nothing to discourage it, they’re going to continue doing it. If someone is throwing firebombs at federal buildings and you don’t bother keeping them in jail nor prosecuting, they’re going to do it even more. If these “experts” can’t figure out why immigration has spiked, they should be fired. You know what’s going on, no need for me to spend more time writing the words you already know.

But tackling those root causes of migration is a long-term effort that can take years. And in the interim, Biden and his aides have been left with a tricky balancing act: remaining committed to building an immigration system that the president promised to be fair and humane, while also talking tough and looking at stronger enforcement tools to deter migrants.

Again, you know what the root causes are, including Democrats enabling this behavior. Is the immigration system thing supposed to be Plan A?

In recent weeks, Republicans have pointed to those numbers in stepping up their attacks against the president, branding the situation as the “Biden border crisis” in emails, ads and statements. On Wednesday, the Republican National Committee blasted out an email declaring that the latest estimated July apprehension figures “show Biden’s border crisis is raging completely out of control.”

Republicans pounce!

Fifty-two percent of registered voters, including Republicans, independents and even some Democrats, disapproved of the job Biden is doing on immigration, according to a new Morning Consult/POLITICO poll released Wednesday. Only 37 percent approved.

You actually have to attempt to do the job, don’t you, to be rated?

Johnson, like many Republicans, contends that Biden caused the situation at the border because of his rollback of certain Trump-era policies at the start of his presidency. Supporters of the president counter that in recent months, Biden has not made any major substantive policy changes that would explain the new uptick in arrivals. Those same supporters, nevertheless, say they’re frustrated, not necessarily with the administration’s policies but with their messaging.

China Joe doesn’t need to make any changes, all the previous ones have added up. As for messaging, well, what’s he supposed to say? The border is being overrun and he’s just letting them go, not even requiring them to get COVID tests?

The White House declined to provide comment on the increases in migrants or to allow an interview with a policy expert to talk about the border. The Department of Homeland Security pointed to documents from the White House and State Department outlining Biden’s immigration strategy. In March, Biden tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to tackle the root causes of migration from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. She has traveled to Guatemala and Mexico and visited the border town of El Paso, Texas, since then. Her office declined to comment for this story.

She hasn’t done squat, and Dementia Joe is directly responsible as the Chief Executive.

Last week, the Biden administration released a 21-point plan outlining how it will fairly and efficiently consider asylum claims, while ensuring a secure, well-managed border. In the framework, the White House acknowledged that its promised fair and humane immigration system “won’t be achieved overnight, especially after the prior Administration’s irrational and inhumane policies, but this Administration has a blueprint to get there and is making real progress.”

Real progress is stopping all work on a border wall? Real progress is catching the illegals and just letting them go with barely a promise to show up to court? Allowing migrants who show up at the border demanding to be let in to the U.S. in, with barely a promise to show up to court? Basically saying there are no consequences?

Politico thinks this isn’t working. It’s working exactly as Joe and the Dems planned: all an attempt to flood the U.S. with illegals and migrants, all in an attempt to force through an amnesty.

Bummer: Leaders Look At Climate Crisis (scam) And Shrug

Because this has everything to do with Science and not politics, right?

Our leaders look climate change in the eyes, and shrug

If you have cultivated an Edgar Allen Poe-like appreciation for the macabre, there is a certain sort of amusement to be had in watching the developed world deal with the insistent onslaught of climate change. Like many horror stories, this one features a main character full of futile determination to maintain a sense of normalcy even as the ominous signs of doom become ever more impossible to ignore. We can chuckle knowing that the monster is going to come for our designated protectors. We stop chuckling knowing that it’s coming for all of us next.

It is easy to imagine that a real live existential threat to our way of life would prompt any society to assume war footing and marshal everything it has to fight for survival. Unfortunately, this response only takes hold in actual war situations, where the threat is “other people that we can shoot and kill in glorious fashion”. When the threat comes not from enemy people, but from our own nature, we find it much harder to rise to the occasion. Where is the glory in recognizing the folly of our own greed and profligacy? Leaders are not elected on such things. We want leaders who will give us more, leading us ever onwards, upwards and into the grave.

See, what they want is dictators who will force everyone to comply. Oh, and hate Capitalism

As overwhelming and omnipresent as the climate crisis is, it is not the core issue. The core issue is capitalism. Capitalism’s unfettered pursuit of economic growth is what caused climate change, and capitalism’s inability to reckon with externalities – the economic term for a cost that falls onto third parties – is what is preventing us from solving climate change. Indeed, climate change itself is the ultimate negative externality: fossil-fuel companies and assorted polluting corporations and their investors get all the benefits, and the rest of the world pays the price. Now the entire globe finds itself trapped in the gruesome logic of capitalism, where it is perfectly rational for the rich to continue doing something that is destroying the earth, as long as the profits they reap will allow them to insulate themselves from the consequences.

Congratulations, free market evangelists: this is the system you have built. It doesn’t work. I don’t want to lean too heavily on the touchy-feely, Gaia-esque interpretation of global warming as the inevitable wounds of an omniscient Mother Earth, but you must admit that viewing humanity and its pollution as a malicious virus set to be eradicated by nature is now a fairly compelling metaphor. Homo sapiens rose above the lesser animals thanks to our ability to wield logic and reason, yet we have somehow gotten ourselves to a place where the knowledge of what is driving all these wildfires and floods is not enough to enable us to do anything meaningful to stop it. The keystone experience of global capitalism is to gape at a drought-fueled fire as it consumes your home, and then go buy a bigger SUV to console yourself.

Surprise? I have to wonder if these climate cultists, who so rarely practice what they preach beyond changing a few lightbulbs, think a system like in Cuba, the Soviet Union, North Korea, and Venezuela, to name a few, will work? Will they be good with no more flatscreens, no more TV shows and films except for government propaganda, limited food, and so much more? Will they be upset when the UK Guardian can no longer afford to stay in business?

Capitalism is a machine made to squeeze every last cent out of this planet until there is nothing left. We can either fool ourselves about that until it kills us, or we can change it.

Remember, this is all about Science!

NYC Will Require Proof Of Vaccination For Lots Of Private Businesses

Say, besides wondering if this is legal and Constitutional in the state of New York, I wonder who this is going to affect

N.Y.C. will require workers and customers show proof of at least one dose for indoor dining and other activities.

New York City will become the first U.S. city to require proof of at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine for a variety of activities for workers and customers — indoor dining, gyms and performances — to put pressure on people to get vaccinated, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday morning.

The program, similar to mandates issued in France and Italy last month, will start on Aug. 16, and after a transition period, enforcement will begin on Sept. 13, when schools are expected to reopen and more workers could return to offices in Manhattan. Mr. de Blasio has been moving aggressively to get more New Yorkers vaccinated to curtail a third wave of coronavirus cases amid concern about the spread of the Delta variant. He is also requiring city workers to get vaccinated or to face weekly testing, and he has offered a $100 incentive for the public.

“If you want to participate in our society fully, you’ve got to get vaccinated,” he said at a news conference. “It’s time.”

“This is going to be a requirement,” he added. “The only way to patronize these establishments is if you are vaccinated, at least one dose. The same for folks in terms of work, they will need at least one dose,” he said, holding up a single finger.

What, exactly, does it do to have one dose of a two dose regimen? You have to have the second dose and wait 14 days to be fully covered.

The new program, dubbed “Key to NYC Pass,” is not a particular document, but rather the strategy of requiring proof of vaccination for workers and customers at indoor dining, gyms, entertainment and performances, including Broadway, the mayor said.

Indoor movies and concerts will also require people to show proof of vaccination to enter. People will be able to continue to dine outdoors without showing proof of vaccination.

To enter indoor venues, patrons must use the city’s new app, the state’s Excelsior app or a paper card to show proof of vaccination. The mayor did not say how the city will handle vaccinations like AstraZeneca or Sinovac that may be common among international tourists.

This goes into full effect on September 13th, but, hey, most of you New Yorkers voted for this dictatorial style government, so, no complaining. Sure, it will cause all sorts of problems at privately owned businesses, but, you voted for this. Think about it: lots and lots of businesses and employees were really reticent on calling people out for failing to wear their masks properly, have fun asking for proof of vaccination.

Oops?

Bummer: Infrastructure Bill Missing Lots Of Climate Cult Steps

It’s a real shame. But, even though Democrats are getting quite a bit of what they want while Republicans get almost nothing, Dems are still looking to reconcile their massive $3.5 trillion bill with the “bipartisan” bill

Bipartisan bill leaves out key climate, clean energy steps

The $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package unveiled by the Senate includes more than $150 billion to boost clean energy and promote “climate resilience” by making schools, ports and other structures better able to withstand extreme weather events such as storms and wildfires.

But the bill, headed for a Senate vote this week, falls far short of President Joe Biden’s pledge to transform the nation’s heavily fossil-fuel powered economy into a clean-burning one and stop climate-damaging emissions from U.S. power plants by 2035.

Notably, the deal omits mention of a Clean Electricity Standard, a key element of Biden’s climate plan that would require the electric grid to replace fossil fuels with renewable sources such as solar, wind and hydropower.

The CES, which would skyrocket people’s electricity bills while making electrical production less reliable.

Nor does it include a Civilian Climate Corps, a Biden favorite and a nod to the Great Depression-era New Deal that would put millions of Americans to work on conservation projects, renewable energy and helping communities recover from climate disasters.

Giving cultists over-priced jobs, empowering them to be nags and attempt to dictate to citizens.

The White House says the bipartisan deal is just the first step, with a proposed $3.5 trillion, Democratic-only package following close behind. The larger bill, still being developed in Congress, will meet Biden’s promise to move the country toward carbon-free electricity, make America a global leader in electric vehicles and create millions of jobs in solar, wind and other clean-energy industries, supporters say.

See? That “bipartisan” bill is just a placeholder for the real deal, especially since there’s a good chance that the Democrat controlled House will not approve the bipartisan bill

“It is clear that the deal does not meet the moment on climate or justice,″ said Tiernan Sittenfeld, a senior vice president of the League of Conservation Voters.

“This looks like the Exxon Infrastructure Bill,″ said Janet Redman of Greenpeace USA. “An infrastructure bill that doesn’t prevent a full-blown climate catastrophe by funding a swift transition to renewable energy would kill millions of Americans.″

Said by people who fail to practice what they preach. This isn’t about science, it’s about power.

If Doing Something about ‘climate change’ was so important you’d think Warmists would show us the way. When does Murphy take the train from Connecticut to D.C.? Nah, he flies in fossil fueled jets.

China Joe’s CDC Announces Renter Eviction Ban Extension

This is a case tailor made for the Supreme Court to pick up quickly. Get the CDC lawyers in front of them within a week to explain their legal and Constitutional rational. Because the CDC, with certain approval from Dementia Joe, wants to do this through October 3rd

Biden administration, CDC announce new, targeted eviction ban for many renters

The Biden administration on Tuesday announced a new ban on evictions for many renters just days after the White House allowed a nationwide moratorium to expire on Saturday, infuriating progressive House Democrats who warned that millions of Americans could lose their homes.

As President Biden hinted at during his Tuesday afternoon news conference, officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention drafted a new eviction moratorium aimed at protecting tenants in counties with “substantial and high levels of community transmission” of COVID-19. Over 90% of the U.S. population lives in the affected areas, sources told The Associated Press.

The two-month moratorium expires Oct. 3.

“The emergence of the delta variant has led to a rapid acceleration of community transmission in the United States, putting more Americans at increased risk, especially if they are unvaccinated,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said. “This moratorium is the right thing to do to keep people in their homes and out of congregate settings where COVID-19 spreads. It is imperative that public health authorities act quickly to mitigate such an increase of evictions, which could increase the likelihood of new spikes in SARS-CoV-2 transmission. Such mass evictions and the attendant public health consequences would be very difficult to reverse.”

Most people who want to work are back to work. They can pay their rent. Besides, as noted so many times, who pays the “rent” on the buildings? The bank has to be paid. Are the renters paying their cable, water, electricity, and sewer? How about their cell phone? They can find ways to cut that stuff and pay their rent. They’re going to have to pay it at some point in many cases.

Consideration of another pause came after immense pressure from progressive lawmakers for Biden to act quickly and extend the moratorium after the White House punted the issue to Congress last week, arguing their hands were tied by a recent Supreme Court ruling that implied most justices believed the CDC had exceeded its authority with the ban.

On Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Biden had asked the CDC on Sunday to consider extending the moratorium for 30 days, but said the agency had “been unable to find legal authority for a new, targeted eviction moratorium. Our team is redoubling efforts to identify all available legal authorities to provide necessary protections.”

So, they said no legal authority, and they went and did it anyhow?

House Democrats and the White House both shifted their attention over the weekend to expediting the distribution of $46 billion in rental assistance that Congress approved in December and March. Treasury data show that just $3 billion, or roughly 6.6% of the money, was doled out during the first half of the year.

If they’re passing out the funds, then it is fine. Why weren’t they?

The CDC can create laws now? Who knew!

And there’s the Progressive position in a nutshell: who the hell is going to do anything about Government drastically exceeding it’s lawful and Constitutional authority.

One surprising thing is that many landlords didn’t simply just not renew leases. That’s not eviction. And you may very see that start happening in the next few months, especially if Dems try and extend the moratorium past October.
