It won’t be an official department, unless the GOP run House and Senate decide to make it so, and, they really, really, really, really, really should trot out legislation to create it, because it would be delicious to see Senate Democrats filibustering it, for refusing to vote on voting for it (the whole 60 votes cloture thing). Maybe they could simply replace the Department of Education, which doesn’t seem to do much but make education worse
Trump Appoints Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy To Lead New Department Of Government Efficiency
President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will together establish a new Department of Government Efficiency in his second administration.
Musk and Ramaswamy have been appointed to “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump’s statement reads. The former president added that the government department led by Musk and Ramaswamy will partner with the White House Office of Management and Budget in an effort “to drive large scale structural reform.”
“I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans. Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud which exists throughout our annual $6.5 Trillion Dollars of Government Spending,” Trump’s statement reads.
“This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!” Musk said in a statement included in Trump’s press release.
But, now, they have to figure out a way to make this work and to enforce their recommendations. To have the ability to have federal employees/contractors working for them to find the waste and fraud. To do something about the fraud. The devil is in the details. Especially since they will find so much waste and fraud within the federal system that there is no joke to be found.
(UK Independent) Trump’s announcement has characterized the department as an advisory board that will “provide guidance outside of government.”
Musk and Ramaswamy’s work will conclude “no later than July 4, 2026,” the announcement added – 18 months after Trump takes office.
Now we wait and see. Will this end up being more like Rand Paul’s “Festivus” report on waste, same as a few other Republicans have done? Or something with teeth to do something about the continued waste and fraud?

It’s not like the UK doesn’t already have a problem with EV chargers not working. Some say the rate is 6%. In some areas it can be up to 30% non-functional. 46% of EV drivers in the UK say they have had issues
EV chargers hit by spate of cable thefts
Metal thieves have targeted dozens of council-owned electric vehicle chargers across Sheffield.
The city council said at one stage just two of its 27 chargers were in use after being damaged by thieves stealing cabling.
Joe Otten, chair of the street scene committee, said it was believed the cables were being taken for their scrap value, describing the incidents as “immensely frustrating”.
He said the authority was working alongside South Yorkshire Police and using CCTV in a bid to crackdown on the thefts.
They suspect they are being sold for scrap value, and it’s starting to get expensive to keep replacing them
“We all want to move transport to a lower carbon footprint, there are grants to help us get these charging stations rolled out and we have been spending that money and been putting the chargers in, but then it doesn’t work because of these thefts.”
Electric vehicle chargers are funded through the Government’s Getting Building Fund.
I wonder how many of these big wigs are driving EVs themselves. If the chargers are just going to be put in places that no one can monitor them this will continue to happen. When’s the last time you heard about gas pumps being stolen?

Remember the wonderful lady who was caught telling FEMA employees and helpers to skip homes that had Trump merchandise in Florida after the hurricane? Well
Do @WRAL, @WNCN, @ABC11_WTVD, @newsobserver, and @NC_Governor, who all yammered about this being misinformation, have comments? @SenateGOP and @HouseGOP need to drag her into hearings https://t.co/Jj0KSDGItO

Let’s delve into this a bit more (Victory Girls Blog made it easy to find text)
(NY Post) Marn’i Washington, who was fired last week over the saga, broke her silence in an interview with YouTube podcaster Roland Martin Monday, arguing she had just been following a widespread FEMA policy of avoiding “politically hostile” homes.
“FEMA preaches avoidance first, and then de-escalation. This is not isolated. This is a colossal event of avoidance,” said Washington, 39.
“Not just in the state of Florida. You will find avoidance in the Carolinas.”
Washington accused FEMA of lying after the federal agency said she had no authority to give the directive to disaster relief workers who were canvassing homes in Lake Placid, Fla., in the wake of last month’s Hurricane Milton.
The FEMA official said her supervisor had approved the message — and that there were incident reports that would prove some residents had shown “political hostility” to workers in the area.
“Senior leadership will lie to you and tell you that they do not know, but if you ask the [Disaster Survivor Assistance] crew leads and specialists what they’re experiencing in the field, they will tell you,” she said.
The House oversight committee will be working over FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell next Tuesday. They should invite Washington to testify ASAP, and, if she won’t, subpoena her.
Here’s the local Raleigh media
All have many, many articles about “misinformation”, while failing to actually send reporters to investigate. They just took the government’s word. And how many have articles on Washington’s allegations? Zero. Nor anything from NC Governor Rory Cooper. Obviously, Washington was involved with what happened in Florida, not western North Carolina. But, she’s made allegations it happened in NC. Our senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd have both mentioned that this needs to be investigated.
Too bad the Justices didn’t tell the kiddies “if you’ve stopped using fossil fuels and made your own lives carbon neutral we’ll listen”
US Supreme Court turns away bid to revive youth climate change lawsuit
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to revive a novel lawsuit by 21 young people claiming the U.S. government’s energy policies violate their rights to be protected from climate change.
The justices denied, opens new tab a so-called petition for a writ of mandamus, opens new tab the youth activists filed in September that argued that the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had overstepped its authority by taking the “extraordinary” step of ordering a federal judge in Oregon to dismiss the case.
The 9th Circuit did so at the urging of the U.S. Department of Justice after the Oregon judge allowed the young people’s lawyers to amend their 2015 complaint to address problems the appeals court raised in an earlier 2020 ruling in the case.
Tuesday’s action by the justices is likely not the last time the Supreme Court will encounter the case, as the youth activists have until Dec. 9 to file a certiorari petition that they say will raise broader arguments over why the case should be revived and why they have standing to sue.
It’s a matter for lawmakers, not the courts
“The standing of children to be heard in their right to life case is a pressing issue of national importance,” Julia Olson, a lawyer for the young people at the non-profit Our Children’s Trust, said in a statement.
If the kids are so concerned they should practice what they preach and convince people to do the same, not attempt to force their cult beliefs on everyone else.
In Tuesday’s case, the youth plaintiffs had alleged the U.S. government has permitted, authorized and subsidized fossil fuel extraction and consumption despite knowing those actions cause catastrophic global warming.
By contributing to climate change, the plaintiffs said U.S. energy policies violate their rights to due process and equal protection under the U.S. Constitution.
But in a 2020 ruling, the 9th Circuit held it was beyond the power of the courts to order and supervise remedies designed to address climate change and that such complex policy decisions were better left to Congress and the executive branch.
They cannot convince others to act, hence, they want to use the courts. And, by they, I mean the adults that are really behind this, using the kids as props. It’s shameful.

What this is really about right now is about taking your hard-earned money in the 1st World and sending it elsewhere
Climate talks open with calls for a path away from the ‘road to ruin.’ But the real focus is money
United Nations annual climate talks stuttered to a start Monday with more than nine hours of backroom bickering over what should be on the agenda for the next two weeks. It then turned to the main issue: money.
In Baku, Azerbaijan, where the world’s first oil well was drilled and the smell of the fuel was noticeable outdoors, the talks were more about the smell of money — in huge amounts. Countries are negotiating how rich nations can pay up so poor countries can reduce carbon pollution by transitioning away from fossil fuels and toward clean energy, compensate for climate disasters and adapt to future extreme weather.
In order to try to start the 12 days of talks, called COP29, with a win, Monday’s session seemed to find a resolution to a nagging financial issue about trading carbon pollution rights — one that has eluded negotiators for years. It could free up to $250 billion in spending a year to help poor nations, said new COP29 president, Mukhtar Babayev.
When it comes to discussions on finance, the amount of money being talked about to help poor nations could be as high as $1.3 trillion a year. That’s the need in the developing world, according to African nations, which have produced 7% of the heat-trapping gases in the air but have faced multiple climate crises, from floods to drought.
Whatever amount the nations come up with would replace an old agreement that had a goal of $100 billion a year. Richer nations have wanted numbers closer to that figure. If an agreement is struck, money is likely to come from a variety of sources including grants, loans and private finance.
And your pocket to cover those grants, loans, and private finance that never get repaid. How about all those rich folks at COP29 use their own move?
Dozens of climate activists at the conference — many of them wearing Palestinian kaffiyehs — held up banners calling for climate justice and for nations to “stop fueling genocide.”
“It’s the same systems of oppression and discrimination that are putting people on the frontlines of climate change and putting people on the front lines of conflict in Palestine,” said Lise Masson, a protester from Friends of the Earth International. She slammed the United States, the U.K. and the EU for not spending more on climate finance while also supplying arms to Israel.
Well, of course the climate cultists have joined forces with the Israel/Jew haters and supporters of Islamic terrorism. Hell, even the Taliban is going to be there.
I wonder if Canada will look to shut down their southern border with the United States?
Canada on ‘high alert’ bracing for migrants fleeing US
Canadian authorities are on high alert and increasing border security in anticipation of a potential surge in migrants from the United States due to the upcoming presidential election.
Sergeant Charles Poirier, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesman, told news agency AFP, “We’re on high alert. All of our eyes are looking at the border to see what’s going to happen… because we know that Trump’s stance on immigration might drive up illegal and irregular migration to Canada.”
This follows a previous period during former President Donald Trump’s first term (2017-2021) when a significant number of migrants, including Haitians who lost US protections, sought refuge in Canada.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland convened a meeting with ministers to address potential challenges stemming from the US election. She assured Canadians that the government has a plan to manage a possible increase in migrant arrivals, emphasizing border security and control.
This comes at a time when Canada is reducing its own immigration targets to manage population growth and strengthen infrastructure and social services.
So, wait, the uber-leftist Canadian government doesn’t want more migrants? Huh
Following the recent US election, online searches related to moving to Canada saw a considerable rise, particularly inquiries about immigration processes.
Authorities plan to increase border patrol presence and utilize technology like cameras, sensors, and drones to monitor the situation. Information sharing between Canada and the US is also ongoing.
I wonder why the Canadian government leaders like Justin Trudeau don’t want all these illegals and migrants now, when they used to be oh so happy to get them.

How giving forests legal rights can help the fight against climate change
(Skipping through lots of twatwaffle)
Replicating this approach elsewhere requires a complete ideological shift about how we see forests. We must reshape the relationship between capitalism and life itself. A groundbreaking concept is emerging – bestowing legal personality upon forests, enabling them to act as legal persons in global discourse. This notion resonates with philosopher Bruno Latour’s “Parliament of things” and Michel Serres’ “natural contract”. Gabon is offering spiritual wisdom to its forests. Governmental policy is harmonized with nature. This approach can guide us toward a renewed dialogue. Our forests are not mere resources but as representatives demanding their rightful voice.
The approach of legal personality isn’t an idealistic idea only – it’s a path illuminated by history’s greatest thinkers. As capitalism faces an existential crossroads, it’s high time to embrace nature’s wisdom. Gabon’s example is profound: we must forge a capitalism that comprehends natural limits and respects the planet. The question isn’t whether we can – it’s whether we will.
In the face of our changing climate, rising inequality, and a world still grappling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to reimagine capitalism has never been more crucial. Harvard Business School Professor Rebecca Henderson argues that to create a sustainable and just future, we must foster a new relationship with nature, transform business models, and shift corporate culture.
It’s not just about doing the right thing; it’s about building a world that works for all – for all the earth’s inhabitants. Will we rise to the challenge and forge a new path?
You know, if they would just say “we need to protect our forests” I’d be with them. But, this gets entirely too wackadoodle and Modern Socialist. Cultish.
