China Joe To Reopen Illegal Alien Concentration Camps, Er, Overflow Centers

I’m sure the media will be concerned over kids in cages, like they were for the previous four years, right?

https://twitter.com/AmongtheRuins14/status/1356729038606368776?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1356729038606368776%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitchy.com%2Fbrettt-3136%2F2021%2F02%2F02%2Fwould-these-overflow-facilities-have-a-cage-like-feel-at-all-president-biden-reopening-texas-facility-for-unaccompanied-migrant-children%2F

Will AOC take the Biden admin to task? Will she demand to be allowed in to inspect one? Cry crocodile tears in an expensive outfit?

Biden administration to open overflow shelter for migrant children in Texas

The Biden administration said it plans on reactivating a “temporary Influx Care Facility” in Carrizo Springs, Texas, to potentially accommodate up to 700 migrant children within the next two weeks.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a statement obtained by Fox News that said its Office of Refugee Resettlement division currently funds 13,200 licensed beds. Axios reported on Monday that President Biden has faced a crisis at the border with an influx of unaccompanied minors and strict health guidelines in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The report pointed to how the Trump administration was “lambasted” for its use of similar temporary shelters in 2019. Both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris vocally opposed the Trump administration’s immigration priorities during the presidential campaign.

The facility in Carrizo Springs has been unoccupied since late 2019.

“Initially, the Carrizo Springs ICF will accommodate approximately 700 children in hard-sided structures. Additional semi-permanent (soft-sided) capacity may be added if necessary, though ORR will always prioritize place children in hard-sided structures over semi-permanent structures,” the statement read.

So, basically, the exact same thing that Trump did. And Biden did. And no other media source other than Fox and some conservative outlets are noting this. None are calling them cages. Will any outlets demand to take photos in the facility? I wonder if any employees will sneak some photos out, because you know that most of the employees of Customs And Border Patrol, which will be in charge of the facility, voted Republican.

(Texas Tribune) The orders, expected to be signed Tuesday afternoon, will require a review of the controversial Migrant Protection Protocols and establish a task force to reunite hundreds of families still separated under Trump’s 2017 zero-tolerance policy, which caused more than 5,000 children to be separated from their parents or guardians.

No one is reporting how they will be reunited. Will the parents, who more often sent their kids off with other people to the border, who did not accompany the kids, be allowed to come into the United States and stay?

The MPP program, also called “remain in Mexico,” sends most migrants back to Mexico as they wait for their asylum hearings in American courts. Since its inception in late 2018, more than 60,000 asylum seekers have been forced to wait in some of Mexico’s most dangerous border cities, including more than 20,000 in Ciudad Juárez, across the Rio Grande from El Paso.

Why are they different from everyone else around the world, who have to apply for asylum, work or school visas, and even a chance for citizenship while staying in another country? Something every other nation does. Why are these migrants, who often bring only basic skills, no education, and little ability to support themselves financially, given priority?

In Order To Solve The Climate Crisis (scam) We Need More Diverse Boardrooms Or Something

Remember, this is all about science. No, stop rolling your eyes, I saw that. Science!

We need more diverse boardrooms to address the climate crisis

climate change joke

In recent years, national governments have strengthened their commitment to addressing the climate crisis.

The UK has said it will reach net-zero emissions by 2050. President Xi Jinping has pledged China will do the same by 2060. And Joe Biden is expected to prioritize climate goals, having already pledged to rejoin the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Countries will be looking at their supply chains to see where emissions can be reduced. International co-operation will be stepped up, too, especially with flagship events such as COP26 happening later this year. But while national governments increase efforts to combat climate change, the private sector has its part to play too.

It could start by improving its gender diversity.

In 2021, leading on corporate diversity is no longer a good press exercise, but something which can boost both financial performance and environmental impact.

Proof?

The link between gender diversity and carbon footprint may not be obvious. After all, while companies around the world have been switched on to the fact that greater diversity equals better performance for many years now, that performance has usually been viewed through a financial lens alone.

Perhaps understandably so. A 2019 Credit Suisse study found that companies with a high percentage of women on the board, and within management, outperformed their less diverse counterparts. It makes sense that a diverse and inclusive team is more competitive in today’s globalized economy.

So, one study. And, it may be correct. There needs to be more data, especially going beyond a study that starts out with an editorial. Doesn’t sound rather unbiased. And, there’s nothing wrong with women and different people on boards, as long as they’ve earned it. Just like a man has to earn it (unless you’re Joe Biden’s son).

In fact, diversity across a business has wider implications, including – most significantly – for that business’ carbon footprint. Recently, Arabesque looked at the data from more than 2000 companies around the world, and found that as diversity increased, so did corporate transparency, which included how likely it was that a company would make its volume of greenhouse gas emissions public.

Companies that are doing better on managing and reducing their greenhouse gas emissions are more likely to disclose adequately, since they will gain from that disclosure.

Sounds like these companies are more interested in Virtue Signaling than their core missions.

To truly achieve lasting change, we will need to move towards a place where the corporate world sets high standards for itself with respect to diversity and makes sure those standards are upheld. This can take the shape of external pressure. Goldman Sachs will no longer underwrite IPOs for companies with fewer than two board members from diverse backgrounds, and Nasdaq has proposed requiring that a business has at least one female director to list on their exchanges.

And you end up with token people in positions with no actual power, just Social Justice Warrioring. Treating people like tokens. This is not about science. And, let’s face it, this is actually rather patronizing, thinking that women can’t do it themselves and have to be given positions.

Looney Anto-Vaxxers Could Get Their Own Free Speech Zones In Los Angeles

Suddenly, restricting people to “free speech zones”, ie, areas where they are allowed to protest, and if they get out of them they get arrested, are fashionable again

‘Anti-vax’ protesters could get free-speech area to prevent them from blocking COVD-19 vaccine distribution

Los Angeles officials on Monday expressed anger at anti-vaccine protesters who temporarily blocked the vaccine distribution center at Dodger Stadium on Saturday and said they hoped to avoid future disruptions.

“I was very upset and disheartened,” L.A. County Supervisor Hilda Solis said of the disruption to the vaccination efforts.

Solis said authorities will set up space for protesters in the future who can share their viewpoints but “won’t disrupt” the traffic flow.

”I understand people have 1st Amendment rights. … But when you become disruptive and actually create more problems through congestion, traffic jams or hostility in a manner that is not conducive, then I would want to have our public safety officials involved and to be there to protect all that are involved,” Solis said.

Now, first off, I think these people are loonies and annoying, and it creates a huge pain in the ass for Other People when they created problems with people getting the vaccine in LA. I think most of us, left, right, and (so-called) center can agree on that, right? And it does go to the question “should people be able to causes problems like that when engaged in their 1st Amendment Rights?” It does say “protest peaceably. Is blocking all those people and forcing the vaccine distribution center to shut down protesting peaceably? That’s a bigger debate, is it not?

But, what is not debatable is that Los Angeles tolerated the hell out of Black Lives Matter and Antifa blocking the streets and causing problems multiple times, did it not? Here’s BLM in May, blocking the 101 in LA, causing people problems, assaulting people, and destroying police cars. Here’s BLM walking onto the 110 in LA during rush hour in June, blocking traffic. The cops didn’t force them off the streets and into free speech zones in either cases. The notion never came up. And those were just two of the incidents in the LA area. Nor did free speech zones come up anywhere else in the country where BLM was running, literally, riot.

Why is it that the loony anti-vaxxers are being treated differently, especially when there was not assault, no arson, no looting, not destroying police cars?

NY Times: You Know That Big Nor’Easter Was Caused By ‘Climate Change’, Right?

Said Nor’easter rather fizzled in many places, such as the New Jersey Shore and New York City. It wasn’t quite as bad as originally forecast. The NY Times is on it

Heavy Snowfall in Northeast Disrupts Travel and Vaccine Rollout

A powerful winter storm pummeled much of the Northeastern United States on Monday, canceling flights, shutting down parts of the nation’s largest subway and disrupting travel for millions of people along the I-95 corridor.

By Monday night at least one person had died because of the storm, the police said.

In New York City, more than 16 inches of snow had fallen in Central Park by 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, and another few inches were expected overnight.

Earlier forecasts had predicted up to two feet of snow, which would have made the storm one of the biggest in the city’s history. But by late afternoon, most of the heavy snowfall bands that had been blanketing the city with one to two inches of snow an hour had moved north.

Let’s head to the end of the piece, shall we?

Such storms have always been a part of winter in the Northeast. But there is evidence that a warming world is influencing the severity of winter storms even as it is making winters somewhat milder over all.

Judah Cohen, director of seasonal forecasting at Atmospheric and Environmental Research, pointed to the Arctic, which is warming much faster than the rest of the planet, and the phenomena of the disrupted polar vortex, which can be triggered by blasts of sudden warming in the stratosphere.

Together, the two kinds of warming are a potent combination, he said: “The general warming of the Arctic, that’s kind of like the gasoline. When you get the polar vortex, that’s the match.”

We can fix this with a tax, you know. Meanwhile, here’s the Weather Channel (which always seems a bit surprised that weather happens)

Despite climate change, snowfall appears to be increasing along the Northeast Urban Corridor over time.

According to a February 2020 report from Climate Central, three of the top five cities that exhibited the largest gains in snowfall since 1970 – Atlantic City, New Jersey; New York City and Newark, New Jersey – were near the Northeast seaboard.

These I-95 corridor snowfall increases over the decades were most prevalent in winter and spring, rather than fall.

This may be due to a combination of factors, including warmer ocean water able to supply more moisture to winter storms, and more frequent blocking patterns in the upper atmosphere, such as the Greenland block, which ushers in cold air and can lead to slow-moving snowstorms in the East.

The other factor is you driving to get a burger in your fossil fueled vehicle.

Finally, if you feel like watching a 2 minute video, “CBS News meteorologist and climate specialist Jeff Berardelli joins “CBS This Morning” for a forecast of the major winter storm hitting the East Coast, as well as the impact climate change is having on storms like this.”

Washington Post Is Suddenly Super Enthused By Potential Bipartisanship From China Joe

Interesting. The Washington Post spent over four years telling Democrats to #Resist and not work with President Trump. Remember, on day 1, January 20, 2017, the WP published a piece on the campaign to impeach Trump beginning. Eugene Robinson had a piece on November 14, 2016, hoping Trump fails. There was very little positive from the WP, and they even changed their tag line to “Democracy dies in darkness” for Trump. Think they’ll investigate Biden as hard? Snicker

President Biden is right to give bipartisanship a chance. Republicans must follow.

double standardsSEEKING A bipartisan deal on a big covid-19 aid bill, President Biden met Monday with a group of 10 Republican senators led by Maine Sen. Susan Collins. Many in his party are skeptical. The 10 Republicans had offered a counterproposal to Mr. Biden’s $1.9 trillion plan that is less than a third the size, leading progressive commentators to accuse them of bad faith. Coronavirus aid is too important for the president to get caught in a holding pattern the way President Barack Obama did as he tried to negotiate a bipartisan health-care reform bill in his first term.

Um, Joe wasn’t seeking a bipartisan deal, the GOP group of 10 were.

Yet Mr. Biden has a window in which to explore bipartisan options before extended unemployment benefits expire in March. The Republicans did not say that their counterproposal is a final offer. If negotiations lead nowhere, he can always try to pass a large covid-19 relief bill on party lines using the Senate reconciliation process. Ms. Collins was right to bring a GOP proposal forward, and Mr. Biden was right to hear out the senators.

The question now becomes “does Joe negotiate at all?” What will the WP Editorial Board say when Biden and his allies in Congress blow the GOP off and just and try to pass their porkapalooza laden COVID bill?

It would be better for the country if the GOP senators and Mr. Biden both agreed to deviate from their initial proposals. The senators’ plan is too small, particularly given alarming unemployment figures and the risk that new coronavirus strains could force new lockdowns. It lacks aid for state and local governments, a necessity that Republicans have already delayed for too long, risking harsh state and local staffing cuts in the midst of a pandemic and an economic crisis. It also proposes only a three-month jobless benefits extension, which would likely force Congress to write yet another bill just as they finish passing this one.

In other words, it would be good if the GOP gives up everything and get nothing in return. Bipartisanship in the Age Of Dementia Joe.

Mr. Biden’s plan is more ambitious. But, in search of delivering on a bad Democratic campaign promise, it would also be wasteful. The Biden proposal contemplates $1,400 direct payments to most Americans — even those far too high on the income scale to need the help. Some families making as much as $300,000 a year might get some government aid. These direct payments make up a quarter of Mr. Biden’s plan, and nearly half of that spending could be removed with little economic impact. Republicans would improve the coronavirus relief package if they forced Democrats to target aid checks to those who really need the cash.

Huh. They actually make a bit of sense. However, what happened to the $2,000 checks Joe promised during the campaign and during the Georgia revote? You can bet the WPEB would be blasting Trump if he had made that promise and won.

Over the weekend, the Biden camp suggested that the president does not need to find bipartisanship in Congress in order to unite the rest of the country. But he is right to try to do both. Doing so shows his commitment to unity is not just rhetorical, and he will need buy-in from at least a few Republicans on Capitol Hill in order to pursue other elements of his agenda. With congressional Republicans engaged in their own identity crisis, Mr. Biden should embrace every opportunity to work with GOP lawmakers willing to distinguish themselves from the elements in their party focused on obstruction, voter suppression and lies about the election. At the same time, negotiations need not be open-ended, and the Republicans too must demonstrate good faith. Simply coming up with a starting offer is not proof of constructive bipartisanship.

Well, now, that last bit is all about the GOP having to reach across the aisle and make concessions, not about Joe having to do the same.

Climate Cult Wants Farmers To Go Back To 1499 Or Something

There are certainly some practices of modern farming that need to change, like the overuse of pesticides and fertilizers, but, the Cult of Climastrology wants to move the whole operation back to “simpler methods”

Farming needs to go back to old fashioned methods to help the environment, says PM’s father as he takes on new climate change role

Farming needs to go back to old-fashioned methods to help the environment, the Prime Minister’s father has said, as he takes on a new climate change role.

Stanley Johnson is today announcing that he is the new International Ambassador for the Conservative Environment Network (CEN).

The author has long been a campaigner on green issues, and is a passionate advocate of “rewilding”, recently visiting some reintroduced bears in Italy.

He is expected to lobby for wilder farming at the major climate change conference COP26, scheduled to take place in Glasgow this summer.

Mr Johnson, a passionate rewilder, told The Telegraph about his vision of farming, explaining: “It’s not rewilding as such but going back to methods of farming which are very much the way things were. Rain fed agriculture, grass fed agriculture, even not ploughing up. You may gain more in carbon terms from doing that than from planting a load of trees.

Yes, this is when crop yields were smaller, bugs were all over crops, and they sprayed manure on it. This is fine for your backyard garden, not so much when raising food for lots and lots of people. It may work well for the Amish and similar groups: good luck with food at your grocery story.

“There is an absolute need for a change in the farming system in Britain and as we come out of the EU that’s an amazing way to do that. I have just agreed to be the international ambassador for the Conservative Environmental Network. We are going to be focusing on the Climate Change Conference. It’s an honourary assignment of course I’m not going to ask to be paid at my age!”

This guy is the son of Boris Johnson, and, he’s entitled to his opinion. And welcome to do this on his own farm. But, the thing is, the Climate Cult always wants to force everyone else to comply with their beliefs, and want government to force people to comply.

Heck, it’s been said that modern farming is more environmentally conscience than old school farming. It’s certainly less manpower intensive. Will all these Warmists go work on farms? Oh, right, that’s what the want illegal immigrants to do.

USA Today: You Darned Christians Are Too Threatening To Keep Around

Now, just imagine the USA Today allowing an opinion piece like this about Muslims. Can’t do it, can you?

Christian nationalism is a threat, and not just from Capitol attackers invoking Jesus
Christian nationalists inside our government are working quietly to take America for Jesus. They are the more resilient danger to religious pluralism.

After a portion of the mob entered the Senate chamber on Jan. 6, a handful of men mounted the podium. One of them lifted his hands and cried out, “Jesus Christ, we invoke your name. Amen.” Then Jacob Chansley, sometimes called the “QAnon Shaman,” took his bullhorn and announced gratitude to God for being able to “send a message to all the tyrants, the communists, and the globalists that this is our nation, not theirs.”Bare-chested to expose his white supremacist tattoos, he had paused briefly to remove his Viking-inspired horned headdress and cap — presumably to assume a properly humble posture as he claimed the United States for himself and his fellow-believers.

The violence was roundly condemned, if a bit mealy-mouthed in certain quarters. People spoke of the criminal threat against members of Congress, staffers and police. They lamented the violation of sacred civic space and democratic norms (the few we have left). Many were especially dismayed to find police, veterans and elected officials among the rioters — individuals who had taken oaths to serve and protect the nation.

It is easy to protest when white Christian nationalism turns violent. Within the chorus of critics, however, are a substantial number of Christians who plan to take the country for Jesus another way. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, a leader of the misinformation campaign that led people to believe (falsely) that the presidential election was stolen, is among them.

That keeps going on and on and on, heaping scorn and abuse on Christians, attempting to elevate their Constitutionally allowed beliefs to the level of threats that need to be shut down, no matter if you are simply a person who just goes to church every Sunday. Why? Because belief in religion, more specifically Christianity, interferes with the Progressives ability to have everyone worship the State. They’ve been going after Christianity since the 70’s, and, since they couldn’t destroy it then, then infiltrated it to get it to change from the inside. This is how we get gay marriage in churches, teaching people to give up their freedom to Government, and a Pope who spends more time on Social Justice than opposing abortion on demand.

But, it’s not moving fast enough, so, it’s back to attempting to destroy organized religion (no, not Islam, they are Useful Idiots for Progressives at this time), so, the Mostly Peaceful Capitol Protest is a good excuse, along with Republicans who are devout. 1st Amendment? When do the Progressives really care about the Constitution if it interferes?

The idea to start is to make them Enemies Of The State

Surprise: Fighting Climate Crisis (scam) Means Big Changes To America

Climate cultist Seth Borenstein, who’s been a leading pusher of the climate crisis scam in the Credentialed Media for a long time, tries to put a positive spin on having to change everything about America

Fighting climate change in America means changes to America

Climate isn’t the only thing changing.

What comes next in the nation’s struggle to combat global warming will probably transform how Americans drive, where they get their power and other bits of day-to-day life, both quietly and obviously, experts say. So far the greening of America has been subtle, driven by market forces, technology and voluntary actions.

The Biden administration is about to change that. (snip)

“You will no longer be going to a gas station, but you will need to charge your vehicle whether at home or on the road,” said Kate Larsen, director of international climate policy research at the Rhodium Group. “It may be a whole new way of thinking about transportation for the average person.”

But it will still be your car, which is why most of the big climate action over the next 10 years won’t be too noticeable, said Princeton University ecologist Stephen Pacala.

“The single biggest difference is that because wind and solar is distributed you will see a lot more of it on the landscape,” said Pacala, who leads a decarbonizing America study by the National Academy of Sciences that comes out next week.

So, they’re pretty much going to force you out of your fossil fueled vehicle, but, it won’t matter where the charging stations are, because even 10 years from now most EVs will be too expensive to purchase except tiny ones. What are families going to do? And, because of the short ranges and long time to charge, long trips will be out for most people. And, rather than a beautiful landscape you’ll see it spoiled by wind turbines and solar panels.

Other recent detailed scientific studies show that because of dropping wind, solar and battery prices, Biden’s net-zero carbon goal can be accomplished far cheaper than feared in the past and with health benefits “many, many times” outweighing the costs, said Pacala, who was part of one study at Princeton. Those studies agree on what needs to be done for decarbonization, and what Biden has come out with ”is doing the things that everyone now is concluding that we should do,” Pacala said.

These are the type of shifts that don’t cost much — about $1 day per person — and won’t require people to abandon their current cars and furnaces, but replace them with cleaner electric vehicles and heat pumps when it comes time for a new one, said Margaret Torn, a senior science at the Department’s of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, who co-authored a peer-reviewed study Wednesday.

The article doesn’t really say what those other shifts really are, but, hey, it’s just about a $1 a day! And then all the increased costs that get shifted from businesses to consumers. And, let’s be honest, if these climate cult grifters are saying a $1 a day, it’s probably more like $10-100 a day. If it was so cheap they’d change their own lives, right?

Biden’s executive orders featured plans for an all-electric federal fleet of vehicles, conserving 30% of the country’s land and waters, doubling the nation’s offshore wind energy and funding to help communities become more resilient to climate disasters. Republicans and fossil fuel interests objected, calling the actions job-killers.

Um, they were and are job killers.

All this work on power and vehicles, that’s easy compared with decarbonizing agriculture with high methane emissions from livestock and high-heat industrial processes such as steel-making, Breakthrough’s Hausfather said.

“There’s no silver bullet for agriculture,” Hausfather said. “There’s no solar panels for cows so to speak, apart from meat alternatives, but even there you have challenges around consumer acceptance.”

So, next up to destroy is agriculture. How happy will people be when their food costs skyrocket and products are limited? Will people be happy when the federal government is dictating every aspect of their lives?
