Immigration Agents Are Using Air Passenger Data for Deportation Effort

The Trump administration is providing the names of all travelers passing through U.S. airports to immigration officials in search of people with deportation orders, a substantial expansion of government efforts to draw on data to hunt down immigrants it wants to expel.

Under the previously undisclosed program, the Transportation Security Administration provides a list multiple times a week to Immigration and Customs Enforcement of travelers who will be coming through airports. ICE can then match the list against its own database of people subject to deportation and send agents to the airport to detain those people.

It’s unclear how many arrests have been made as a result of the collaboration. But documents obtained by The New York Times show that it led to the arrest of Any Lucía López Belloza, the college student picked up at Boston Logan Airport on Nov. 20 and deported to Honduras two days later. A former ICE official said 75 percent of instances in that official’s region where names were flagged by the program yielded arrests.

ICE has historically avoided interfering with domestic travel. But the partnership between airport security and the immigration agency, which began quietly in March, is the latest way the Trump administration is increasing cooperation and information sharing between federal agencies in service of the president’s goal of carrying out the largest deportation campaign in U.S. history.

“The message to those in the country illegally is clear: The only reason you should be flying is to self-deport home,” said Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security.

The Trump admin should be telling everyone about it, and, I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole thing was leaked to the Times so that illegals will see it and only fly to leave the country. The harder you make it for illegals the fewer come and the more leave.

Airline passengers have long been subject to some federal scrutiny. Airlines typically provide passenger information to T.S.A. after a flight is reserved. That information is compared against national security databases, including the Terrorist Screening Dataset, which includes the names of individuals on a watch list of known or suspected terrorists.

In fact, TSA regularly flags people with warrants and reports them to law enforcement in the airport who detain until law enforcement from outside the airport come to take them away. Oh, well. Maybe illegals should consider just leaving.

“If you have more officers conducting arrests at airports, it puts more strain on the system, delays and complications may annoy and frighten some travelers, and those who are unsure about their status will move away from air travel,” said Claire Trickler-McNulty, a senior ICE official during the Biden administration. “It will continue to reduce the space where people feel safe going about their business.”

Illegals should never feel safe.

What Climate Change Means for White Christmases

Yeah, I live in North Carolina, so, it almost never happens. The last time on “record” was 2010, but, really, it started snowing in the wee hours of the 26th, because I remember leaving the parents house at 4pm on Christmas day, and it was still not snowing in Raleigh when I got home just after midnight.

Many people have memories of watching the snow fall on Christmas Day—but data shows that, across the country, a white Christmas occurs less frequently than you might think.

The National Weather Service will only deem it a white Christmas if there is an inch or more of snow cover on the ground Christmas morning—when volunteer observers report the snowfall. Data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows that from 2003 through 2024, the average Christmas morning snow cover blanketed just 36% of the contiguous U.S. states. (That’s because some regions, like the Texas Gulf Coast or stretches of the West Coast, rarely see snow in December.) In fact, according to the Weather Channel, there’s few places beyond the Mountain West, northern New England, and the far northern tier states like Michigan and Minnesota, and northern New England where the odds of a white Christmas are higher than 50%. But while many people across the country might lament the white Christmases of their youth, the truth is that many places typically don’t see snow in late December—people just think they did.

“People tend to remember that one snowy Christmas, and they forget that it was surrounded by five Christmases that weren’t,” says David Robinson, New Jersey State climatologist and Rutgers University professor whose research focuses on snow cover.

The thing is, the data really doesn’t go all that far back to determine if there has been a lessening of the chance of having a white Christmas in the areas that have a decent chance of having snow on the ground at Christmas. Most measured data put together only goes back to the early 1980s. Really, it’s a Holocene warm period, things get warmer. No need to drag witchcraft into it. But, they have to

That doesn’t mean that winter weather hasn’t changed over the years. Climate change is causing temperatures to rise across the country—and it’s impacting precipitation patterns.

“Decembers have warmed three to five degrees across the country in the last 75 years,” says Robinson.

Horseshit. Complete horsheshit. I’m not even using the normal GIF for this, this is a complete pantload. The 6 month old just fill the diapers, and it now stinks. And there is zero chance they can actually show that 3-5 degrees in actual measured data.

That’s due to a mix of climate change and climate variability, the natural fluctuations in climate patterns in a given region. The northeast, upper Midwest and New York and New Jersey are some of the areas where this trend is strongest, says Globe. Climate change is also causing shorter, warmer winters. But that doesn’t mean that a white Christmas will become a thing of the past. Some areas that often see snow might see more intense storms due to climate change, as a warmer atmosphere is able to hold more moisture.

Warmer gets you more snow, too, because it is a cult.

Good News: Over 80% Of Somalis In Minnesota On Welfare

Minnesota: ‘Nearly Every’ Somali Household with Children Is on Welfare

More than 8-in-10 households headed by Somali refugees in the state of Minnesota are on one or more forms of American taxpayer-funded welfare, new data published by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reveals.

The data, based on 10 years of data from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS), shows drastic disparities between native-born American households and Somali-born households in Minnesota, where nearly 80,000 residents have Somali ancestry compared to zero who had Somali ancestry in 1990.

In particular, the data shows that 81 percent of Minnesota households headed by Somali refugees are on one or more forms of welfare, including 27 percent who are on cash welfare, 54 percent who are on food stamps, and 73 percent who are on Medicaid.

Compare this massive welfare use to native-born Americans residing in Minnesota, only 21 percent of whom are on one or more forms of welfare, including just 6 percent who are on cash welfare, 7 percent who are on food stamps, and 18 percent who are on Medicaid.

Welfare use goes even higher for Somali households where children are in the home, the ACS data finds.

For example, 89 percent of Somali-headed households with children in Minnesota are on one or more forms of welfare, as 86 percent are on Medicaid. About 62 percent of Somali households with children in the state are on food stamps, while 23 percent take cash welfare.

So, American taxpaying workers are paying for Somalis to live off the government while they refuse to assimilate and demand that America change to accommodate their extremist religious views. The others not on welfare suddenly turn nothing into $30 million, like Ilhan Omar, or steal money meant to feed children.

Somali refugees in Minnesota also tend to be vastly less educated than their Minnesotan counterparts.

While only 5 percent of native-born Americans in Minnesota do not have a high school diploma, almost 40 percent of Somali refugees say the same, including more than 28 percent who have lived in Minnesota for more than 10 years.

They’re just living their Somali lives, without all the pirates and paramilitaries in the streets.

A proposed mining road in Northwest Alaska sparks debate amid climate change impacts

electric vehicleIn Northwest Alaska, a proposed mining road has become a flashpoint in a region already stressed by climate change.

The 211-mile Ambler Access Road would cut through Gates of the Arctic National Park and cross 11 major rivers and thousands of streams relied on for salmon and caribou.

The Trump administration approved the project this fall, setting off concerns over how the Inupiaq subsistence way of life can survive amid rapid environmental change. Many fear the road could push the ecosystem past a breaking point yet also recognize the need for jobs.

The Ambler Mining District holds one of the largest undeveloped sources of copper, zinc, lead, silver and gold in North America.

Demand for minerals used in renewable energy is expected to grow, though most copper mined in the U.S. currently goes to construction — not green technologies.

Do you or do you not want the materials to make “green” stuff?

The Ambler road would cross a vast, largely undisturbed region. Building it would require nearly 50 bridges, thousands of culverts and more than 100 truck trips a day during peak operations.

Federal biologists warn naturally occurring asbestos could be kicked up by passing trucks and settle onto waterways and vegetation that caribou rely on. The Bureau of Land Management designated some 1.2 million acres of nearby salmon spawning and caribou calving habitat as “critical environmental concern.”

Mining would draw large volumes of water from lakes and rivers, disturb permafrost and rely on a tailings facility to hold toxic slurry. With record rainfall becoming more common, downstream communities fear contamination of drinking water and traditional foods.

So, what I’m reading is that making “green” stuff is bad for the environment.

Unsurprising: 4 Republicans Vote To Extend Ocare Subsidies In Senate

4 GOP senators break ranks to vote for Democratic extension of ObamaCare subsidies

Four Republican senators, including two vulnerable incumbents who are up for reelection next year, broke ranks Thursday and voted for a three-year extension of enhanced health insurance premium subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) all voted for the Democratic proposal, which was introduced by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.).

They joined all forty-seven Democrats in voting to advance the measure, which failed to reach the 60-vote threshold necessary to move forward. The motion to proceed to the measure failed 51 to 47. The vast majority of Republican senators voted against the measure.

No one should be surprised by Collins and Murkowski, they always do this. Hawley and Sullivan are disappointing.

Collins on Monday introduced a bill with Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) to extend the enhanced health insurance premium subsidies under the ACA for two years while limiting their availability to households earning less than $200,000 a year. They also proposed requiring lower-income Americans who participate on the ObamaCare marketplace to pay at least $25 monthly premiums.

$200K? Really? That’s insane. How about a year extension with a requirement for utter and complete reform. Ocare is not going away. The time to kill it was before it went into effect. It’s time it was completely overhauled. It started with absurd deductibles that made it almost unusable, then the premiums kept going up at least 10% ever year. The COVID era subsidies merely hid several years of big rises. Democrats do not want reform, because, while the original intention was to put health insurers out of business, it quickly morphed into Democrats making sure those same hated insurance companies got lots of taxpayer money, which then gets funneled back to Democrat election coffers.

Blame Republicans for our health insurance mess

A recent survey found that 76 percent of people who get their insurance through the ACA and want the subsidies extended would blame President Donald Trump or Republicans in Congress if they are not. The broader public, the vast majority of whom would also like to see the aid extended, agrees; 48 percent of voters blame the GOP, while 32 percent pin it on the Democrats, per a new Morning Consult poll.

And, because Republicans are bad at messaging and too many are squishy, and the vast majority of the media are Democrats, they get this result.

This is wholly a problem created by Democrats, but, elected Republicans and the GOPe are idiots.

Cult Now Trying To Hijack The Affordability Debate

Affordability As One Possible Response To Climate Change

Reasons for the lack of new affordable housing seem nearly limitless. Depending on whom you talk to, factors can include inflation, NIMBYism, governmental red tape, labor shortages, material costs and others. All contribute to the ongoing crisis of a shortage of 7.1 million affordable and available rental homes, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC). The NLIHC estimates just 35 affordable and available homes exist in the U.S. for every 100 extremely low-income renter households.

Well, let’s see: COVID causing housing prices to skyrocket, as so many blew out of higher priced big cities and moved elsewhere, like the South. Biden letting in Lord knows how many millions of illegals, fake asylum seekers, refugees, and TPS recipients, putting a strain on housing. Democrats constantly pushing “affordable” housing, so we get more townhomes and apartments, rather than houses. Owners jacking up the cost of rent due to COVID even though their own costs barely rose. The cost of building going up because of government mandates on things, such as AC and heating.

But some developers and architects believe if new affordable housing cannot be built in sufficient volume, there exists a next best idea: Creating more old affordable housing by renovating and preserving already existing structures.

OK, that sounds like a great idea. There are tons of buildings, commercial and lving, they can do that with that. Of course, government gets in the way. How’s that whole permitting thing going in the Los Angeles area?

BTW, most of the permits are from the feds. None from local, county, state (why are the feds even involved?)

The added benefit of doing so is it is a more sustainable solution than building anew. Renovating old housing avoids the environmental tradeoffs of new construction, including carbon emissions and demolition waste. Renovating existing buildings to provide housing helps trim waste, lower energy usage and fortify those communities most susceptible to the impact of climate change.

The vast majority of the article has little to do with environmental concerns nor the green scam, yet, you look at the headline and see that the cult requires it’s blood sacrifice in every article.

Cool: DHS To Buy 737’s To Deport Illegals

DHS inks contract to create its own fleet of 737 jets for deportations

The Department of Homeland Security recently signed a contract worth nearly $140 million to purchase six Boeing 737 planes for deportations — a move that will allow the agency to operate its own fleet after receiving a massive funding increase from Congress.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the arm of DHS that carries out deportation flights, has long relied on charter planes, but two officials familiar with the contract and records reviewed by The Washington Post indicate ICE has broader plans.

Tricia McLaughlin, a DHS spokeswoman, said in a statement in response to an inquiry from The Post that the planes would save money “by allowing ICE to operate more effectively, including by using more efficient flight patterns.”

McLaughlin said the effort would save $279 million in taxpayer dollars. She did not offer specifics.

“We are delighted to see The Washington Post is highlighting the Trump administration’s cost-effective and innovative ways of delivering on the American people’s mandate for mass deportations of criminal illegal aliens,” she said in a statement.

None of the wacko activists, unhinged judges, or elected Democrats will be able to pressure the charter companies with this. ICE can simply load up the planes and ship them off to their home countries. Or other places. And it creates jobs for aircraft mechanics! That’s great!

Another former DHS official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly about their former employer, said that the likely rationale for the agency is to increase capacity to do both removals from the United States and move people from one facility to another within the country. The official said previous administrations considered similar ideas but concluded it was too expensive because of costs or the logistical complications of maintaining a fleet of aircraft and flight crew.

It took five Washington Post writers to tell us this. I think we can all figure out it makes things easier and quicker.

Noem to Face Questions From House Panel Amid Immigration Crackdown

Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, is set to appear before Congress on Thursday for a hearing that is likely to draw sharp questions about the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement tactics and efforts to upend legal paths for migrants to live in the United States.

The hearing, held by the House Homeland Security Committee, typically takes place annually and focuses on “worldwide threats” to the United States. Ms. Noem will face a panel of lawmakers as the federal government is escalating its immigration efforts and seeking to ramp up deportations.

In other words, Democrats are going to caterwaul and bloviate about DHS following laws as passed by duly elected Congresses to capture and deport people in violation of immigration laws. There will be barely any questions from Democrats as they have a freakout over illegal aliens.

NY Times Reader Wonders How He Can Get His Climate Cult Wife To Stop Nagging People

How Can I Stop My Wife From Badgering Our Friends About Climate Change?

My wife has become an eco-warrior. She has strong feelings about the environment and other people’s carbon footprints. She challenges our friends repeatedly about their lifestyle choices. I agree with her in principle, but I can’t support her moral outrage. It’s become clear to me that her behavior is off-putting to many people we see. And it’s uncomfortable for me and for them when she raises the same issues repeatedly. She seems to care more about the climate crisis than our relationships. I try to see this issue through my wife’s eyes, so I understand her need to speak up. But it’s so uncomfortable. Help!

Hmm, their lifestyle choices? I’d love some detail about her own choices. I’m betting that the pool of friends has shrunk, that most are always busy, have something going on, so, they do not have time to meet up anymore. Let’s see what the NY Times has to say in response

I am going to assume that you have raised this issue with your wife privately and have not made much headway. (It would be odd to keep quiet about your growing discomfort, and that of your friends, only to broach the subject with me.) Still, I have a suggestion that may be persuasive to your wife: Offer her an alternative that increases the chances of changing people’s behavior.

She probably knows already — but may need to be reminded — that there are few turnoffs more potent than being bullied by moral crusaders. I wouldn’t start there, of course! I would begin by praising her, rightfully, for her commitment to an important issue that receives little practical attention — among my friends and neighbors, anyway. We believe in human-caused climate change, but we are not altering our transportation, diets or energy habits to reduce our carbon footprints.

Damn, I’ve been noting that about the Warmists for 20 years

So, after expressing your solidarity, turn to her presentation. Tell her you’ve seen friends pull back from her when she becomes strident. Remind her that she isn’t likely to shame people into making lasting changes in their behavior. And ask her to consider posing her important question more gently: How can we call something a crisis and still not take steps to ameliorate it? A soft conversation here — with talking and listening on every side — is more likely to change people’s habits than an angry attack is.

Yeah, that doesn’t really help, not with utter zealots, true cult members. He needs to have a clear conversation with her, which won’t go well. A conversation that is probably worse than a spouse trying to set boundaries within a marriage (something like this). How do you get a person dial down their cult? How many Dems are out on social media saying they cut Trump voting family members out of their lives, won’t go to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner with them? How do you overcome that?
