Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Pledges $10 Billion For Hotcoldwetdry

Warmists in the Credentialed Media are super excited about this. You can find articles all over the place, including Vox, ARS Technica, NY Post, NY Times, CNN, and so many others. Here’s CNBC, which gets right to the meat

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos pledges $10 billion to launch Earth Fund for combating climate change

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos on Monday announced the launch of a new Earth Fund that the e-commerce chief plans to use to combat the effects of climate change.

He said in an Instagram post that he’s pledging $10 billion to start the fund, which will be called the Bezos Earth Fund, and will issue grants to scientists, activists and other organizations in their efforts to “preserve and protect the natural world.”

“We can save Earth,” Bezos wrote in his post. “It’s going to take collective action from big companies, small companies, nation states, global organizations, and individuals.”

“Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet,” he added. “I want to work alongside others both to amplify known ways and to explore new ways of fighting the devastating impact of climate change on this planet we all share.”

Hmm, so, this fund isn’t really doing anything but funding activists and “scientists” who’ll lobby government to force their beliefs on Everyone Else? Seriously, what is Bezos doing in his own life to reduce his carbon footprint? How about the vast amounts of fossil fuels and energy used by the Bezos owned Washington Post (which also has the story) to gather, create, and disseminate the news? Will he be reducing that carbon footprint?

And what of Amazon? It has a pretty big footprint with all those goods being delivered in fossil fueled vehicles, right? Will the whiny employees who were protesting be satisfied?

Amazon Employees for Climate Justice said Monday that while they support Bezos’s move, it’s still concerned about the company’s support of the oil and gas industry.

“We applaud Jeff Bezos’ philanthropy, but one hand cannot give what the other is taking away,” the group said in a statement. “The people of Earth need to know: When is Amazon going to stop helping oil & gas companies ravage Earth with still more oil and gas wells?”

Guess not. Of course, without fossil fuels, Amazon ceases to be able to operate and all those employees lose their jobs.

Anyhow, this whole climate fund from Bezos looks like a typical Warmist con-job.

Older Warmists Decide To Just Live Their Lives Because It’s Just Too Late To Fight ‘Climate Change’

They aren’t worried about their own lives, because they won’t be around when “the planet descends into a “Mad Max” dystopia”

It’s Too Late For Us To Fight Climate Change. Instead, Here’s How We’ll Spend Our Lives.

Last year was when the endless bush fires in Australia convinced me and my wife, Susan, that climate change was unstoppable. It’s also when we realized that we likely will avoid seeing the worst of the climate emergency.

At 64 and 74 years of age, my wife and I believe there’s a good chance that we’ll be gone before coastal cities are flooded, the ice caps have melted, and the planet descends into a “Mad Max” dystopia. We would like to think that this isn’t what the future has in store, but the intransigence of almost all governments to actually slow carbon emissions leaves little doubt that things are unlikely to turn around.

Why is it always governments that have to do this? Imagine if every Warmist gave up their own use of fossil fuels and did everything possible to make their own lives carbon neutral: they should lead the way!

One of the things that age gives you is a sense of history, a feeling that you’ve seen patterns repeat and that you can see where things are heading in the near future. Over and over again, we’ve seen corporations and governments ignore the people they should protect in order to line their own pockets. What has changed now is that they’re sacrificing an entire planet instead of a town or a country. I would like to believe that the younger people marching with Greta Thunberg could change that, but honestly I can’t see it happening.

These are the same types of people who constantly vote for left leaning politicians, who are always for increasing the size of government, making it less responsive to citizens and more dictatorial.

My wife and I are at the age when we’re preparing for retirement as much as possible. Instead of just staying in our home in Vancouver, we’re thinking about where we can move that will insulate us from the climate emergencies that are surely coming. We’d like to move to a place in the country, and grow tomatoes and grapes, and surround ourselves with the things that will make us safe and comfortable while the world burns around us. We’ll grow old gracefully, and will leave it to someone else to try and avoid disaster. At this point we’ve decided that as long as they can postpone the collapse until we’re dead, we’ll be OK.

Sounds like they are rather well off, having made money off the backs of the proletariat.

We’ll choose a home in a place that will stay reasonably cool and that should avoid tsunamis and tornados….

OK, I’m stopping here. Blaming tsunamis on anthropogenic climate change is the ultimate in cult thinking.

Another Reason To Get Out And Vote GOP: Democrats New Way Forward Bill

This is the kind of full legislation that is usually held back till after an election. The overview would be available to whip up the Democrats to get out and vote, but, with the full thing, it’s so bad that even moderate Democrats surely have to say “whoa, hold on there, Sparky”

Kobach: The New Way Forward Bill Isn’t Just Bad Policy; It’s Insanity

The open-borders Democrats in Congress continue to outdo themselves. One would think that it would be impossible to come up with anything more idiotic than their proposals to give free health care to illegal aliens and to abolish ICE. But they have done it again.

The New Way Forward Bill, introduced relatively quietly by Representative Jesús Garcia (D-Ill.) and other Democrats in December 2019, is even worse than these ideas. And it’s gaining steam. Introduced with the support of the most radical progressives in the House including, of course, “the Squad,” more Democrats have signed on since. It’s now up to 44 co-sponsors. It also has the support of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

So, what’s in the bill that’s so bad?  One of the worst parts has already gotten some attention from conservative critics such as Tucker Carlson. It prohibits the deportation of aliens for criminal activity carrying a minimum sentence of less than five years. It similarly removes the automatic deportation of those aliens who commit crimes of moral turpitude.

Even worse, it invites back into the country those deported criminal aliens who meet these relaxed standards. So already-deported criminals who have committed crimes such as auto theft, gun offenses, child abuse, rape, and even manslaughter would be permitted to come back into the United States. As long as the criminal alien’s deportation occurred after April 1996, he can return.

The bill considers the United States to be the home of these illegal alien criminals, and the U.S. taxpayers will pick up the tab for the illegals to come back. Seriously, even Obama didn’t want these people, and deported them constantly.

The New Way Forward Bill also prohibits state and local police from providing any assistance transferring illegal aliens in their custody to ICE. Without this help, ICE is nearly powerless to go after criminal aliens. Contrary to popular misconception, ICE does not have legions of officers patrolling the country looking for criminal aliens on their own. Rather ICE relies heavily on state and local police to make those arrests for them when those local police are carrying out their normal law enforcement activities against criminals.

It would turn the entire nation into a sanctuary jurisdiction

In short, the enforcement of immigration laws would grind to a halt. Sanctuary cities would become the new norm. Thousands of alien criminals would be given free flights back into the United States. And many Americans would lose their lives as a result of the crimes that ensued. Their federal government, which was supposed to protect them, would have knowingly put them in danger.

Now, imagine the Democrats keeping the House this election cycle, and regaining the Senate and White House. Is this the type of legislation you want passed? How about all you #NeverTrumpers? Is your Trump Derangement Syndrome so strong you want something like this passed and to become law?

Young Adults Support Comrade Bernie Because They Want “Free” Stuff They Haven’t Earned

Of course, these young people tend to not actually show up on election day, but, they want their “free” sh*t

Young adults support Bernie Sanders because they want to benefit from ‘boomer socialism’ that older Americans already enjoy

Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is solidifying his standing as the frontrunner of the Democratic presidential race after a victory in the New Hampshire primary and a strong finish in the Iowa caucuses. The self-proclaimed democratic socialist seeks to enact universal healthcare in the US, wipe out student debt, and fight climate change.

Combined with promises to take on the political and financial elite, the ambitious proposals are helping generate a wave of enthusiasm among younger voters that’s propelling his unabashedly progressive campaign, similar to 2016.

Business Insider recently reviewed exit polls from the New Hampshire primary on February 11, and they indicated that Sanders drew nearly half of voters ages 18 to 29, more than the other four major Democrats on the ballot combined.

But conspicuously missing from his nascent coalition of voters was older Americans, long a force at the voting booth. Exit polls from New Hampshire indicated that Sanders drew only 15% of voters over age 65. (snip)

Part of the reason is the unpopularity of socialism, particularly among voters born before 1975, according to Gallup. The same poll indicated that favorable views of socialism among young adults is still relatively high while those for capitalism steadily dropped over the past decade — 49% and 51%, respectively.

Older people know what real Socialism causes. They’ve seen it in action. Soviet Union, Cuba, Vietnam, China, and others. If you don’t know the problems, there is no point in explaining them.

Young adults are pressing to widen the reach of government benefits to include them. A key reason is that the traditional stepping stones toward a life of prosperity are no longer easy to secure. Higher education, affordable housing, and quality healthcare are out of reach for many.

As Thompson put it, Sanders seeks to expand the “existing social contract” that older people already enjoy to include a new generation of Americans.

So, they want things they haven’t earned. Social Security and Medicare? People have been paying, forcibly, into that pool their entire lives. Mortgage deduction? Buy a house and you will get it. These young folks have been brainwashed into believing that Other People owe them something simply for existing. They do not want to work for it. The benefits that boomers enjoy now come after about fifty or sixty years of being in the work force, paying taxes on incomes for fifty or sixty years, and contributing mightily to charities, organizations, and colleges, not to mention state, city, county, hospital and college districts. The young kids will get the same. They just aren’t willing to wait. Free money for all!

Sadly, as usual, that article is behind a paywall. But, you get the point.

Good News: Mayor Of Stab-Happy City Pledges To Make London Carbon Neutral

As we all know, the incredible city of London has been invaded by Islamists who love stabbing people, have created no-go zones and their own Sharia police, and basically made parts of London into 3rd world nations. So, what is the mayor to do?

Sadiq Khan sets up £50m fund to reduce emissions in London

London mayor Sadiq Khan is to spend £50m on a Green New Deal for London as part of a pledge to make the UK capital carbon neutral by 2030. (that’s roughly $6.5 million U.S., which, doesn’t seem a lot for government, but, remember, this is just London)

The mayor, who faces the electorate in May, said the announcement highlights his commitment to tackling the climate crisis and improving London’s dangerous levels of air pollution.

“I’m unapologetic at how ambitious my plans are for a Green New Deal for London because we can’t afford not to be ambitious when it comes to saving our planet,” Khan told the Guardian. (snip)

The mayor has introduced an ultra-low emissions zone (Ulez) in central London which is due to expand to the north and south circulars in 2021. However, other cities – including Manchester and Birmingham – have announced ambitious plans to improve air quality and encourage cycling, and Khan has been criticised for not moving quickly enough.

But the mayor insisted he was determined to make London a leading green city.

“These issues are personal to me. I don’t want my children to grow up in a world where our very way of life is threatened by the climate crisis. And as someone who suffers from adult onset asthma, I understand the price we pay for failing to clean up our toxic air.”

But, he’s good with them being stabbed, I guess.

Say, What’s The Worst Case Scenario For Climate Doom In 2050?

Another day, another prognostication of climate doom. This one is meant to sell a book by Christiana Figueres, who’s a massive Warmist and served as the Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Even Warmists like Michael Mann avoid these doomy prognostications, but, they are in the minority

‘The only uncertainty is how long we’ll last’: a worst case scenario for the climate in 2050

It is 2050. Beyond the emissions reductions registered in 2015, no further efforts were made to control emissions. We are heading for a world that will be more than 3C warmer by 2100

The first thing that hits you is the air. In many places around the world, the air is hot, heavy and, depending on the day, clogged with particulate pollution. Your eyes often water. Your cough never seems to disappear. You think about some countries in Asia, where, out of consideration, sick people used to wear white masks to protect others from airborne infection. Now you often wear a mask to protect yourself from air pollution. You can no longer simply walk out your front door and breathe fresh air: there might not be any. Instead, before opening doors or windows in the morning, you check your phone to see what the air quality will be.

Fewer people work outdoors and even indoors the air can taste slightly acidic, sometimes making you feel nauseated. The last coal furnaces closed 10 years ago, but that hasn’t made much difference in air quality around the world because you are still breathing dangerous exhaust fumes from millions of cars and buses everywhere. Our world is getting hotter. Over the next two decades, projections tell us that temperatures in some areas of the globe will rise even higher, an irreversible development now utterly beyond our control. Oceans, forests, plants, trees and soil had for many years absorbed half the carbon dioxide we spewed out. Now there are few forests left, most of them either logged or consumed by wildfire, and the permafrost is belching greenhouse gases into an already overburdened atmosphere. The increasing heat of the Earth is suffocating us and in five to 10 years, vast swaths of the planet will be increasingly inhospitable to humans. We don’t know how hospitable the arid regions of Australia, South Africa and the western United States will be by 2100. No one knows what the future holds for their children and grandchildren: tipping point after tipping point is being reached, casting doubt on the form of future civilisation. Some say that humans will be cast to the winds again, gathering in small tribes, hunkered down and living on whatever patch of land might sustain them.

More moisture in the air and higher sea surface temperatures have caused a surge in extreme hurricanes and tropical storms. Recently, coastal cities in Bangladesh, Mexico, the United States and elsewhere have suffered brutal infrastructure destruction and extreme flooding, killing many thousands and displacing millions. This happens with increasing frequency now. Every day, because of rising water levels, some part of the world must evacuate to higher ground. Every day, the news shows images of mothers with babies strapped to their backs, wading through floodwaters and homes ripped apart by vicious currents that resemble mountain rivers. News stories tell of people living in houses with water up to their ankles because they have nowhere else to go, their children coughing and wheezing because of the mould growing in their beds, insurance companies declaring bankruptcy, leaving survivors without resources to rebuild their lives. Contaminated water supplies, sea salt intrusions and agricultural runoff are the order of the day. Because multiple disasters are often happening simultaneously, it can take weeks or even months for basic food and water relief to reach areas pummelled by extreme floods. Diseases such as malaria, dengue, cholera, respiratory illnesses and malnutrition are rampant.

Is that enough doom for you? Because this “edited extract” from the book The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis continues on for many more paragraphs. And then there’s the link to the best case scenario, in which Government has banned all uses of fossil fuels, including natural gas, and banned all fossil fueled private vehicles. She fails to touch on if this means fossil fueled airplanes and ships. Those are probably only for the elites, of course. Everyone rides a bike. Unless you can afford an all electric vehicle, which is apparently powered by unicorn farts.

No mention of the massive taxes and fees required to make this “utopia” happen, nor the massive spike in the cost of living, nor that government would have to run our lives.

Obama’s Still Helping Democrats Not Get Elected

There’s no doubt, no debate, that Barack Obama was one of the best campaigners ever. This unknown guy who did nothing got himself elected to the Illinois general assembly, then, after doing nothing, elected to the U.S. Senate, then, after doing nothing, elected president. Twice. Of course, that campaigning ability didn’t apply to other Democrats, since the Democrats lost well over 1,100 seats nationwide, including ones Obama campaigned for. He lost the House in 2010 in historic fashion. Then lost the Senate. Quite a few Democrats wanted nothing to do with Obama for the 2012, 2014, and 2016 election seasons, telling him to stay away. Hillary Clinton, who served as his Secretary of State, lost in 2016. And now

Candidates in Obama’s orbit fail to capitalize on personal ties

Former President Obama may be the most popular Democrat, but the candidates in his orbit have all but fizzled in their quest for the White House.

There’s Joe Biden, Obama’s vice president, and his friend, former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. Both Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro served in his administration.

At one point or another in the 2020 campaign, all have touted their relationship with the former president in speeches, campaign videos and town hall appearances.

And it hasn’t made much difference.

“You can talk a lot about Obama, but you’re still not Obama,” said Democratic strategist Eddie Vale. “He was a fantastic candidate, campaigner and orator. No matter how much you interacted with him or praise him now, that still doesn’t give you his innate talents.”

Interesting. Obama doesn’t even have to endorse them and they still flounder. Because, let’s face it, Joe and Liz are pretty much done, unless the others really flame out.

Early on, a number of senior Obama aides said former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) was reminiscent of their former boss, inspiring a large movement of support for the Texas Democrat.

“I have never seen a Senate candidate—including Obama in 2004—inspire the sort of enthusiasm that Beto did in his race,” Dan Pfeiffer, Obama’s former senior adviser, wrote about O’Rourke’s Senate bid in 2018. “Not only should Beto run, there is a strong case to make that if he were to do so, he would be one of the strongest candidates in the field.”

That didn’t work well, eh? Twice for Beto. The Senate run and then for president. Perhaps that is why Obama is not planning on endorsing anyone, because that tends not to work out very well. Sure, he’s had some wins, but, when it counts? Not so much.

Meanwhile, Trump is just erasing Obama’s legacy, killing off his executive orders and such.

#ClimateBrawl: GenZ Warmists Upset Over St. Greta’s Fame

Watermelon on watermelon fighting

Gen-Z climate activists call out Greta Thunberg’s celebrity status: ‘It’s really dangerous to deify individuals’

Greta Thunberg is a leading climate change activist, organizing and energizing people around the world. But other Gen-Z environmentalists are bringing attention to the fact that the 17-year-old Swedish teen, who became an internationally recognized figure after sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States, isn’t the only voice in the movement that needs to be heard.

“It’s a weird thing because I think the U.S. in general plays such a huge role in the kind of mainstream of what people see across the globe,” Tokata Iron Eyes, a 16-year-old Indigenous youth leader from South Dakota, tells MAKERS following her appearance at the 2020 MAKERS Conference. The media, she points out, has “not been covering all of the activists of color and all of the activists coming from low income communities who have been doing this for way longer.” However, the teen makes clear, that’s not “to discredit any of Greta’s work. It’s just to say that we are not covering what we should be.”

Iron Eyes, who at 12-years-old was protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline and became the subject of a viral video, went on to explain how the attention paid to specific activists often drowns out the voices of marginalized communities. “Even when I was working with Greta, in local news and stuff they would always get my name wrong or they just wouldn’t put my name in any of the media at all,” she says.

Wanjiku “Wawa” Gatheru, another young activist of color who joined Iron Eyes on the 2020 MAKERS Conference stage, adds “it’s really dangerous to deify individuals” when it comes to this issue in particular. “Climate change, environmental degradation, the environment, this is the most inclusive thing that there is. It’s everything brought together. So I think it’s important to say, ‘OK, we can find hope and feel empowered by other folks but deifying them isn’t what we should be doing,’” Gatheru says. “We should be seeing ourselves in their fight and begin to say, if they can do it, I can do it. And this is a community fight, community resilience. And that’s more important than just lifting up one person.”

Gotta love how they went down the raaaaacism route, eh?

Of course, in the age of social media, what they’re really looking for is popularity and validation, for likes. They really do not offer much in the way of concrete policy recommendations, just a lot of “why aren’t you listening to me’s” and “we’re all doomed, why don’t you adults do something!!!!” Would you listen to children attempting to give you advice on investing, on running a business, on theoretical physics? Perhaps if they were a wiz kid who graduated grad school with the proper degree.  Would you listen to a kid on investing if they continuously lost money? Would you listen to a kid screeching about climate doom when they aren’t practicing what they preach?
