Climate Anxiety Is Overwhelming And Terrifying Or Something

This is the most 1st World Problems of 1st World Problems. People who generally have good lives, aren’t really worried about where their food, shelter, and clothes are coming from, are able to travel around thanks to fossil fuels, have fits when they can’t get social media on their smartphones, and have easy access to health care, clean water, and good food, so they have to invent something to cause strife in their lives

‘Overwhelming and terrifying’: the rise of climate anxiety

Over the past few weeks Clover Hogan has found herself crying during the day and waking up at night gripped by panic. The 20-year-old, who now lives in London, grew up in Queensland, Australia, cheekbyjowl with the country’s wildlife, fishing frogs out of the toilet and dodging snakes hanging from the ceiling.

The bushfires ravaging her homeland over the past few weeks have taken their toll. “I’ve found myself bursting into tears … just seeing the absolutely harrowing images of what’s happening in Australia – it is overwhelming and terrifying.”

Hogan said her lowest point came when she heard about the death of half a billion animals incinerated as the fires swept through the bush. “That was the moment where I felt my heart cleave into two pieces. I felt absolutely distraught.”

The physical impact of the climate crisis is impossible to ignore, but experts are becoming increasingly concerned about another, less obvious consequence of the escalating emergency – the strain it is putting on people’s mental wellbeing, especially the young.

If she wants to be upset, perhaps she could be mad at all the people who set the fires, intentionally or unintentionally, because a tiny increase in the global temperature had nothing to do with it. And maybe she could be mad at the environweenies who refuse to allow things like fire breaks, clearing the underbrush, and controlled burns.

Psychologists warn that the impact can be debilitating for the growing number of people overwhelmed by the scientific reality of ecological breakdown and for those who have lived through traumatic climate events, often on the climate frontline in the global south..

People freaking over a scam, and then making themselves more freaked out as they are told more about the scam by hysterics.

When Kennedy-Williams began focusing on young people he assumed most would be older teenagers or at least have started secondary school. But he soon discovered worrying levels of environment-related stress and anxiety in much younger children.

“What I was most surprised by is how young the awareness and anxiety starts. My own daughter was just six when she came to me and said: ‘Daddy, are we winning the war against climate change?’ and I was just flummoxed by that question in the moment. It really showed me the importance as a parent of being prepared for the conversation, so we can respond in a helpful way.”

Things that didn’t happen.

Until two years ago Dr Patrick Kennedy-Williams, a clinical psychologist from Oxford, had spent his career treating common mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression and trauma. Then something new started to happen. Climate scientists and researchers working in Oxford began to approach him asking for help. (snip)

A key moment for Kennedy-Williams came with the realisation that tackling “climate anxiety” and tackling the climate crisis were intrinsically linked.

“The positive thing from our perspective as psychologists is that we soon realised the cure to climate anxiety is the same as the cure for climate change – action. It is about getting out and doing something that helps.

Surprise! Climalunatics can solve their climalunacy by forcing Other People to pay taxes and have their lives controlled by Government.

NYT Dumps Cold Water On One Trillion Trees Initiative Because Trump’s In Favor Of It

This is Trump Derangement Syndrome at its finest: Trump is in favor of something, so Democrats are Against It. Kinda like, if you’ll remember, how George W. Bush came out with his amnesty plan after winning the 2004 election, and Democrats had a kneejerk reaction to be against it, even though it was what they wanted. Here’s Margaret Renkl

What’s Better Than Planting a Trillion Trees?

After what seemed like 100 years of impeachments hearings, anything uttered on Capitol Hill now sounds to my ear like the voice of Charlie Brown’s teacher. Nevertheless, a few words from President Trump’s State of the Union address managed to break through the wah-wahs last week: “To protect the environment, days ago, I announced the United States will join the One Trillion Trees Initiative, an ambitious effort to bring together government and the private sector to plant new trees in America and around the world,” he said.

Could it really be true?

You will forgive me for thinking there’s no way it could be true. The whole point of the World Economic Forum’s One Trillion Trees initiative is to reduce carbon in the environment and slow the rate of climate change by growing and preserving a trillion trees, worldwide, by 2050. But instead of addressing climate change, the Trump administration has rolled back or weakened 95 environmental protections already on the books.

After a few paragraphs bashing Trump for killing off silly ‘climate change’ and Too Big Government rules, Margaret talks about Trump being potentially converted, and

Nothing would give me greater joy than a conversion story in which the Republican Party recognizes and addresses the climate calamity that is already here, but redemption is hardly at hand. More likely: The president has concluded that planting trees will allow him to continue his wrecking-ball policies while simultaneously posing as an environmentalist. Call it an arboreal cap-and-trade arrangement in which there are no caps and virtually no trades — the continued pillaging and polluting of the environment in exchange for planting a trillion trees.

Anyhow, she bashes Trump some more, and even says that planting trees is not the solution, protecting forests is the solution! You know, after Warmists have clamored for decades about planting trees, how all the carbon offsets companies promise to plant trees, now planting trees is not the solution. Because Trump.

Trump Reaches Out To African Americans As Black Wages Rise

Did anyone watch the Oscars? Yeah, me neither. The apparently ramped up the Wokeness, yammering about climate change, #metoo, bashed Trump, praised Marx, lectured America, the normal stuff. They spent time talking about why blacks weren’t represented well in Hollywood and the awards. Interestingly, they didn’t talk about this

NYT: Black Workers’ Wages ‘Are Finally Rising’ After ‘Decade of Stagnation’

The New York Times reported Friday morning that African American workers are seeing their wages rise for the first time after a “decade of stagnation,” further evidence of the strength of the U.S. economy.

The Times report came as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the economy created 225,000 new jobs in January, smashing expectations. Unemployment ticked upward to 3.6% — but that was due to more workers entering the labor force, generating the highest labor force participation rate thus far in the recovery from the Great Recession. Average hourly wage gains also rose slightly year-on-year, to 3.1%.

Black unemployment is near all-time lows, and now wages are climbing, the Times reported Friday:

President Trump frequently celebrates the experience of black workers, noting correctly that the group’s unemployment rate is at its lowest on record.

Their wages are also going up — a New York Times analysis of government data found that wage growth for black workers has accelerated recently after lagging for much of the decade-long economic expansion.

The Times notes that black workers still face challenges, such as the rising cost of living in urban areas. It adds: “Not only did the gains take a decade of steady job growth to materialize, but they could evaporate at the first sign of economic weakness, as they did after previous expansions.” Read the full article here.

So, after lagging all those years under Obama, the super evil raaaaacist Trump has helped create the atmosphere to see black wages rise and black unemployment be at historic lows? Huh. Which is why Trump is doing this

President Trump is increasingly highlighting his pitch to African American voters as the 2020 presidential election campaign heats up, trying to sway a key portion of the electorate in his favor despite a history of divisive rhetoric on race.

Trump’s effort was on prime-time display last week, with his campaign’s unveiling of a new Super Bowl advertisement on criminal justice reform followed by a State of the Union address and speech in Charlotte, N.C., peppered with appeals to black voters.

Trump isn’t going to win more of the black vote than his Democratic opponent, but Republican strategists say a targeting strategy that peels away even a few percentage points could have a meaningful impact for the president’s reelection.

“No one expects that Trump is going to win the African American vote,” said Republican strategist Doug Heye. But he noted that if Trump increased his vote total among African Americans by 2 or 3 percentage points, it could make the election “harder for Democrats.”

All he has to do is peel a few percentage points in the states he must win to have enough Electoral College points. Further, if he can get other blacks to start wondering “what have Democrats ever really done for me?”, he can get them to not vote for Democrats, even if they aren’t voting Trump. This could also make a big difference in down ballot races, including in states that do not vote Trump.

It’s nice to see the kiddies so brainwashed. But, hey, if they really Care

Video found via the Irish Times, which states that the video was made due to polluted beaches. OK, then help clean the beaches, rather than attempting to institute taxes and Government.

Trump’s Continuous Winning Causes Democrats To Sound The Alarm

It’s not like Democrats weren’t warned against doing things like impeachment theater which lead to helping re-elect Trump, but, you know they won’t stop doing the same things

Trump’s resilience causes Democrats to sound the alarm

Anxiety is coursing through the Democratic Party as President Trump emerges from his impeachment proceedings as a potent threat for reelection, with party leaders and activists uncertain about how to beat the incumbent and worried about a nominating race that remains crowded and is growing more acrimonious.

While Democrats see Trump as a corrosive figure and a threat to the nation, they also see the president and his well-funded campaign tailoring a reelection bid around the strong economy and visceral appeals to his ardent supporters.

Trump’s robust political standing came into view this past week, as he claimed vindication from his acquittal in his Senate trial despite damaging House testimony about his conduct with Ukraine — and set off on a path of retribution by ousting some officials who were witnesses. At the same time, his Gallup approval rating ticked up to 49 percent, its highest point yet.

The developments have generated convulsions of angst among Democrats, who watched their first-in-the-nation Iowa presidential caucuses conclude in a chaotic fiasco and deliver an inconclusive result. Many in the party are now sounding the alarm that denying Trump a second term could be far more difficult than they had calculated.

All Democrats had to do was not be nuts, but, these are Democrats, and their unhinged behavior, combined with the Modern Socialism pushed by the party and the members running for president, all the pronouncements of massive big government, new taxes, government in charge of our individual health care, taking away our 2nd Amendment rights, etc and so forth, just help re-elect The Donald.

“We have a president who isn’t merely unconventional or challenging institutions and elites, or coloring outside the lines. He’s unmoored,” Sen. Christopher A. Coons (D-Del.) said. Yet, Coons added, he is “very aware” that Trump could win reelection “with these economic numbers at his back, all as millions of Americans grow numb to his behavior.”

At the end of the day, his behavior is secondary to him getting Conservative Things Done. He’s at least honest in his behavior, unlike most politicians, who we all know are shady and we wouldn’t let them near our silverware.

“We spend too much time chasing whatever foolishness Trump throws out there, and he’s masterful at it,” said Cornell Belcher, a veteran Democratic pollster. “This has got to be an election fundamentally about Democrats’ vision for bringing the country together and solving the big problems that confront us. And if a Democrat can do that, a Democrat can have a good chance of cobbling back together and even expanding the Obama coalition — and that will beat Trump.”

Yet, they won’t stop chasing Trump, and won’t stop offering lunatic policies. Oh, and most are throwing Obama in a ditch when it comes to Obamacare. Democrats are essentially going to be running on government run health care and Trump Derangement Syndrome, while Trump and the GOP will be running on a fantastic economy and stopping the march of government controlling citizen’s lives.

Climate Cultists Want The Next President To Force Financial Sector To Take Hotcoldwetdry Seriously

Remember, these are the same people who keep calling Donald Trump a Fascist and an authoritarian, who get upset when Trump uses the power of the Executive Office to do away with regulations, yet, want to use the same office to ram climate change policy down Everyone Else’s throat

The next president can force the financial sector to take climate change seriously

A growing chorus of voices is warning that the financial system — big banks, insurers, and other asset managers — is highly vulnerable to climate change. As Mark Carney, head of the Bank of England, explained in a 2018 speech, climate change threatens financial stability in three ways.

First, there are the rising physical risks of climate change. A Rhodium Group report last year labeled those risks — to “property and infrastructure, agricultural production, energy costs, labor productivity, and rates of mortality and crime in the US” — “clear, present, and underpriced.” Second, there are liability risks, as people who suffer from climate effects seek to hold business and institutions accountable. And third, there are the risks posed by a rapid transition to clean energy, if investment capital flees fossil fuel assets all at once and produces what Carney calls a “climate Minsky moment.”

Any combination of those risks could tip the US into a recession, potentially one that makes the 2008 recession look mild.

Interesting. Everything the Cult of Climastrology pushes could cause essentially a depression.

Or does it? A new paper from the Great Democracy Initiative — a reform-oriented think tank housed at the Roosevelt Institute — argues that Dodd-Frank, the financial reform legislation passed in 2010, already contains the authority necessary to jolt financial institutions into action.

It argues, in other words, that the next president doesn’t need Congress to get the financial sector on the right path. (snip)

With these risks in mind, lawmakers created the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC). Its mandate directly addresses the two risks cite above.

The FSOC has the authority to designate non-banks as “systemically important financial institutions” (SIFIs), exposing them to examination and regulation by the Federal Reserve. And it was charged with developing ideas and proposals to mitigate systemic risks in the sector.

Funny how Warmists want more and more Bigger Government, eh?
